No prerequisites. Kratka členitev vsebin s tremi sklopi: teoretski, zgodovinski in literarno-slogovni: (a) invencija retorike, pisava in slovnica; etimologija in definicije, rabe in taksonomije; (b) druţbene in zgodovinske okoliščine nastanka retorike, zgodovinske etape razvoja retorike: antična, rimska, srednjeveška, renesančna in sodobna. Poudarek je na razvoj retorike v stari Grčiji in Rimu (sofisti, Platon, Aristotel, rimska retorika), (c) pregled nekaterih pogostejših retoričnih pojmov oziroma figur v konkretnem literarnem kontekstu. Contents (Syllabus outline): The subject»antique Rhetoric and Literature«follows and focuses on getting to know philosophers, rhetoricists and writers from the old Greek and Latin period. In that sense it stems from a definition of rhetoric as the art of beautiful and persuasive speaking or writing as a basis for literary creation, which enables the later analysis, understanding and hermeneutics of the text. Development of rhetoric, always defined as a skill as well, is not bound only to philosophy. All literary sorts use it's tools, this is why in a broader sense the rhetoric is a study of efficient communication in literature and in that way it enriches understanding of literary works. As a constituent part of criticism the rhetoric analysis represents an important link between studying literature and other discursive and media forms of presentation. A brief content's division into three parts: theoretical, historical, and literary-stylistic: (a) the rhetoric invention, writing and grammar; etymology and definition, usage and taxsonomies; (b) social and historic circumstances of the beginning of rhetoric, historic phases of the rhetoric's development: antique, roman, middle-ages, renaissance and contemporary. Development of rhetoric in antique Greece and Rome is emphasized (Sophists, Plato, Aristotle, Roman rhetoric) (c) overview of some of the most frequent rhetoric concepts ie. figures in particular literary context. 6 Predmet sestavljata dva vsebinska sklopa. 1. 2. Drugi vsebinski sklop obravnava najpomembnejša problemska področja, ki so zaposlovala (slovensko) esejistiko od njenih začetkov dalje. V poštev pridejo: ontološka in statusna vprašanja knjiţevnosti (ustvarjalna svoboda, idejnost, didaktična estetika, univerzalnost literarnega sporočila, spodbude katoliške, liberalne in marksistične kritike, vplivi različnih knjiţevnih programov in estetik ter kulturnih politik na literarni sistem itd.), esejistična refleksija domačih in tujih literarnih praks (esejiziranje o sprotni knjiţevni produkciji, prevrednotenja v literarnem sistemu itd.), teme, povezane z jezikom in narodom (jezik in narod, jezik in literatura, narodna zavest in knjiţevnost, nacionalizem in internacionalizem), etična vprašanja, esejiziranje o različnih nazorskih konceptih in ideoloških paradigmah v prvi polovici 20. stol. Subject consists of two parts. 1. Possible themes: - ontology and literary status questions (creative freedom, ideality, didactic aesthetic, the universality of literary message, stimulation of catholic, liberal and marxist critique, various literary program influences, aesthetics and cultural policies on literary systems, etc.), - essayistic reflection of domestic and foreign literary practices (essayizing on current book production, reevaluating within literary system, etc.), - themes connected with language and nation, language and literature, national consciousness and literature, nationalism and internationalism), - ethical questions, essayizing on different principles concepts and ideological paradigms in the first half of the 20th century. Slovene essayistic will be emphasized but analysis will deal with broader European cultural and spiritual space. This means that learning methods will place domestic theory and practice within European essayistic context. Insight in the above mentioned will teach students that essayistic has regularly followed all of the most important events in cultural, spiritual, political and social spheres in life of Slovenes. Obravnavani so značilni literarni postopki (dokumentarnost, alegoriziranje ipd.) in značilne teme (kritika sodobne druţbe, evrocentrizma in antropocentrizma itd). Subject deals with European literature after 1950 in a way that in forefront are authors and literary works which may be read either as presentation or coment of the social reality in above mentioned period. Various types of social novel are discussed. Major attention is payed to the problems of after war realism, magic realism and historic metafiction; other sorts are also presented ie. drama of absurd, political theatre, engaged poetry. Besides that lectures also deal with the influence of existentialism, structuralism, and so called theories (ideas on narrativness of history, social contructivness of sexes, etc.) on contemporary authors. Specific literary procedures are presented (documentariness, allegorization, etc.) and specific themes (contemporary society critique, eurocentrism and anthropocentrism, etc.).
