With some of the best names on the comedy and television circuit including Ricky Tomlinson, The Chuckle Brothers and sporting legend Henry Blofeld, this season is Gravesham s finest to date. Masters of the House is a show packed with songs old and new from West End and Broadway, laced together with amusing anecdotes and other trivia from the world of musical theatre. With an outstanding musical director and all the singers playing one or more principal roles in a West End show, this production contains some of the world s finest theatrical talent. With epic beats, stunning lighting, a stormy score and one of the countries acclaimed composers, Noise Ensemble - the percussion spectacular - finally hits Gravesend. This outstanding theatrical and musical experience is perfect for all the family. The beat of commended composer Ethan Lewis Maltby s majestic score is brought to life by ten talented young virtuoso percussionists who have gained standing ovations worldwide with this show. Ethan, who lives in Canterbury, Kent, said he wanted to create a show that brought percussionists to the front of the stage, he said, I ve been a classical percussionist for as long as I remember and I was always at the back of the stage, I wanted to put these players in the spotlight. Noise Ensemble is entertainment for everyone, with audiences ranging from six to 86 - all of whom enjoy this vibrant, energetic show. Ethan who has written music for theatre, cinema and TV, created the soundtrack to Noise Ensemble combining music, theatre and drums. He regards it as one of his proudest achievements. Another was hearing a specially written composition performed by the cast at the 2008 FA Cup Final. The worldwide success of the show could be because it has no dialogue in it. Blowers, who will be coming live to Woodville Halls on Wednesday 20 May with his show The Loves and Laughs of Henry Blofeld, said the town holds a very fond place in his heart. He said: The first two days cricket reporting I ever did was for The Times at the Bat and Ball cricket ground in Gravesend, it was in May It was a lovely ground, I remember it very well. It was the first time I ever wrote about cricket. It was a lovely day, very funny and I ve always had a place in my heart for Gravesend ever since. Blowers, a top cricketer, sports journalist and commentator shares a lifetime of stories with his audience during the two hour show, as well as talking about some of the famous faces he has met along the way. But Henry insists the show is not about cricket, it s a show of laughter. He said: It s a very good show and really quite funny, even if I do say so myself. I talk about my strange life on a month to month basis and share one or two stories from the commentary. Gravesham Has Talent, the borough s very own variety show, is packed with dancing, singing, rapping and much more. 16 finalists, one winner you decide. The evening, hosted by local funnyman Tom Swift, gives the 16 finalists the opportunity to perform in front of a panel of judges one of which is a top celebrity who is still to be announced. The countrywide tour, which has been described as an incredible experience and out of this world, is two hours of atmospheric spiritual surprise. Tony said: I try and get my head in a different space. I receive feelings and interpret them into words. Ricky, one of Britain s best known actors, is looking forward to bringing his all new laughter show to the theatre on Friday 12 June. Audiences can expect two hours of side splitting comedy in this one night only performance, as Ricky hosts his long awaited tour as the BBC Royle Family character Jim Royle. It s pure entertainment and uplifting Ricky said. I m really enjoying the tour it s a bloody good laugh. There s some smashing stories about some of the famous people I have met, like Michael Jackson and Robert De Niro, and there s plenty of good comedy. All the anecdotes and stories are true - I have been very lucky and have worked with many great people all over the world. Nothing in the show is rehearsed. It s a really good night out. The laughs are guaranteed to keep on coming as the evening is rounded up with Ricky s very own routine. At the end of the show Ricky meets the audience, signs autographs and has pictures taken with anyone who would like one. I spend as much time with the audience after the show than during it. It s lovely to see everyone. I enjoy meeting and talking to them. It s definitely a perk of the job. Accompanying Ricky in the show will be one of Coronation Street and Emmerdale s finest actors Tony Barton, Eddie Archer of The Comedians and the comedy show band, Black Onyx of Rock with Laughter. They all bring laughter to the show. Anyone who enjoys a laugh and TV will enjoy it. We all have a laugh and that s what it s all about. Ricky, who was once heavily involved with Trade Union Politics and is still classed as a threat to national security, even talks about life before his television career. Ricky s acting credits include a stint in Brookside, Cracker, several films and of course The Royal Family of which he made a few quid out of. I enjoy filming The Royle Family but it can take so long because we are all laughing so much. We ve just filmed a special for Comic Relief, it took us 12 hours because we were

13 Exclusive interview having such a laugh. But the work I am most proud of is Nasty Neighbours, I won an award for it and it was filmed on a shoe string. It was the best piece of work I have ever done. Ricky has several projects coming up this year including a number of documentaries. BAFTA nominee and double British Comedy award winner Dave Spikey is live at Woodville Halls on Friday 20 November with his Best Medicine tour. Dave, who is best known for being star and co-writer of the hit show Phoenix Nights, uses scientific evidence to endorse some wise words and make a small contribution to improve the health of the nation. Exclusive For Autumn Dave said: When I was growing up, my dad (a man of many sayings) used to say to me laughter is the best medicine. Dave Spikey has recently starred as team captain in four series of Channel 4 s 8 out of 10 cats, hosted classic game show Bullseye, appeared on the legendary Parkinson and the Royal Variety Performance, and won Celebrity Mastermind. He also found time to write and co-star with Johnny Vegas in ITV s critically acclaimed sitcom Dead Man Weds, and write and co-star in BBC1 s comedy drama Magnolia.
