I m not sure if you aided her in the baking of those cookies, but they certainly didn t last long. I sat silently as I watched her go back and forth between baking and scrubbing. I don t know if she d ever admit it, but she is more like you than most give credit for. Her mannerisms and humour are very similar. Later in the day, her sister came for a visit. The kids were excited to see their auntie. I love watching your daughters laugh as they reminisce over childhood memories. I don t like to tattle, but they weren t always angels..but I guess you know that now. As I visualize you sitting at the kitchen table, I come to believe that you always knew. Throughout the visit, the apron was still kept on. Whenever they tell stories about you, we are all drawn into the kitchen to listen. Much laughter is at your expense, but I know you don t mind, because mixed in with the laughter, you can still feel the love you brought into our home on so many visits. She s still trying to perfect your biscuits, and has almost perfected your recipe for cinnamon buns. I remember when your granddaughter was little, and couldn t pronounce the word cinnamon, so she called your cinnamon buns, Nuns farts, because they smelled so heavenly as you pulled them out of the oven. We still call them that. I remember us sitting at the table, spreading butter icing over the top and seeing your grand children s faces smeared with icing and cinnamon. One of my most favourite memories of you is the time that you were sitting at the table in your apron. We were telling you, again, how heavenly those buns were and your granddaughter asked you if you could still visit when you go to Heaven. You told her you would visit as often as she wanted. When she asked you how, when we would still be here and you would be there, you put down your butter knife and placed one hand on top of her head and the other over her chest and said, I ll always visit between here and there. It s been three years now, but surprisingly, we no longer mourn. I guess we don t miss you as much as I thought we would. Perhaps it s because you still visit so often thanks for visiting us today.
