The Junior Apprentice 2017 Candidates 9 members of the junior school have been appointed as Mrs Branagan s apprentices for the next few weeks. They will be involved in a variety of tasks, after which at least 1 candidate will be fired. The following are the 11 students who have been shortlisted for the competition
Name: Daniel Mark Vance Age: 12 I am good at many things to do with business such as creativity as I can produce good ideas, I am also quite good at selling items. I want to be in the junior apprentice because I have great skills in creativity and I want to put it to use and this competition looks really good and fun and I want to have a go at the business part of a career.
Hugo Lavery 8 4 Our Lady And Saint Patricks College Knock I think I am a good candidate to win Young Apprentice this year because I feel that I have a number of unique interests and talents that make me a strong contender. I am good at problem solving and like to come up with original ideas. This includes thinking of various designs and then making and creating an invention, which I have often done in my own time. I am also good at leading a team and like to get others interested and participate in group discussions. This helps to plan and develop an idea further, by thinking of the various problems to solve and to agree on the final product.
NAME: Dominic McQuillan Age: 12 I should win because I am known for my creativity and leadership skills which are both key things necessary in business. I work well with others and can easily adapt to any situation
Junior Apprentice Name: Seamus Carroll Date of Birth: 23 February 2005 Work Experience: I help my mum and dad at all the trade shows we go to. I ve been to New York, Harrogate, Birmingham. Glasgow, London and Dublin with them. I help my mum and dad at St George s Market most weekends Skills: Bi lingual I speak both English and Irish fluently and a bit of Spanish Good at haggling with experience from travel Hobbies: Swimming, water polo and football. Strengths and Qualities: I am a confident person. I m a good team player. I am a good negotiator and naturally funny. Me, my mum and dad travel quite a lot and when I was only one and a half years old my parents brought me to India. India is quite a poor country and when there are tourists in town they stop at nothing to sell stuff to you. Being only young I didn t really notice but we went back to India a few more times but the most memorable and most educational was when I was seven. Because I was older I took notice of the poverty and the pushy sellers. There were a lot of scams in India at the time and my mum and dad taught me how to haggle and talk my way out of a sticky situation. The poverty also taught me to be careful who I give my money to because sometimes like in Ireland it could go towards drugs or drink instead of going towards the people that need them most. All these experiences make me who I am today.
Name: Caitlyn Murphy Age: 12 Why I think that I should win: I am very ambitious and I love new challenges, trying and experiencing new things and also working with others or as an individual. I also like taking part in competitions. I keep a high expectation of myself. However I know my limits and when I can or struggle to do something.
Student profile Name: Conor Hardon Age: 11 Tutor group: 86 Why I should win: I should win because I have other experiences of this sort of thing in p7. I had an idea for a smoothie business and we almost won the competition. Also my dad owns a jewellery business in queens arcade called Lauren and May jewellery and I have worked there.
Jay Nagendiran I would like to participate and have fun in the junior apprentice as well as learning new business strategies and new things about what businesses do. I am exceptionally good at IT so I would help very much on the computer. I am also tremendously good at being organised and sorted. I hope these skills will help me not to get fired. I hope I have fun and learn a lot!
My name is Charlie McMahon Murray I am 12 years old and in 8.4. I have entered the Junior Apprentice for one reason and one reason only...to win! I believe I should win because I have a great business mind, I am an extremely hard worker, I work well leading a group with other students but can sit back, listen to all the opinions and get the best out of everyone in my team. I feel I can win the process and become Lord Sugar s new business partner.

Task 1- chocolate bar The junior apprentices were split into 2 teams and asked to come up with a name, logo, slogan, packaging, flavour and price for a new chocolate bar. Team Infinity was led by project manager Jay Nagendiran, with Conor Hardon, Daniel Vance, Charlie McMahon Murray and Dominic McQuillan. Team Platinum Evolution was led by project manager Hugo Lavery, with Seamus Carroll, Caitlyn Murphy and Patrick Harkin. Team Infinity came up with the idea of choc a blok, with a digestive biscuit base and marshmallow. They carried out market research with family in relation to the idea and made a logo including a monkey, as they thought this would attract children. Team Platinum Evolution came up with the idea of snap and share. Their chocolate was Belgian and included cola millions. They delivered an excellent pitch, led by Patrick Harkin, who was fabulous in this role. They created a snap chat competition with this and a website, which was totally unexpected and showed a great level of detail went into this work. After much deliberation, it was revealed that Platinum Evolution had won this task, based on the effort they put in, their multi coloured logo and catchy slogan. Both teams performed extremely well and even made the chocolate bars, which was not even a requirement of the task. Well done everyone. Unfortunately only 1 team could win. Tomorrow the board room will begin! At least 1 candidate will be fired. Who will be the first to leave the OLSPCK Junior Apprentice????
