Because of its relatively fewer components (propane and butane), it is easy to achieve the correct fuel to air mix ratio that allows the complete combustion of LPG. This gives LPG its clean burning characteristics. Both Propane and Butane are easily liquefied and stored in pressure containers. These properties make the fuel highly portable, and hence, can be easily transported in cylinders or tanks to end-users. LPG is a good substitute for petrol in spark ignition engines. Its clean burning properties, in a properly tuned engine, give reduced exhaust emissions, extended lubrication and spark plug life. The clean burning properties and portability of LPG provide a substitute for traditional fuels such as wood, coal, and other organic matter. This provides a solution to de-forestation and the reduction of particulate matter in the atmosphere (haze), caused by burning the traditional fuels. Q. Why does so happen that sometimes the flame lift from the burner port? A: The right mix of LPG and air is required to give us the best blue coloured flame at our burner port. In case of any imbalance of Air-LPG mixture such things may happen. If air is more in the combustible mixture, the flame will lift off the burner port. We then need to get our burners checked as they may require a little repair or cleaning etc to ensure right combustible mixture at the burner port. In case the pressure is higher than the designed rating, the flame may lift off the port. In case it is advisable to get the pressure regulator checked.
