1 B I R L A I N T E R N A T I O N A L S C H O O L January February Volume 8 Volume 8 From the corner of an Intellectual : Jim Carrey May 24th, 2014 My soul is not contained within the limits of my body. My body is contained within the limitlessness of my soul. Jim Carrey Inside this issue: Independence Day Farewell Party Vocal & Instrumental Music Competition Hindi Skit Competition Hindi Story Telling Competition Scrabble Competition Creative Corner I am here to plant a seed that will inspire you to move forward in life with enthusiastic hearts and a clear sense of wholeness. The question is, will that seed have a chance to take root, or will I be sued by Monsanto and forced to use their seed, which may not be totally Ayurvedic. Life doesn t happen to you, it happens for you. How do I know this? I don t, but I m making sound, and that s the important thing. That s what I m here to do. Sometimes, I think that s one of the only things that are important. Just letting each other know we re here, reminding each other that we are part of a larger self. I used to think Jim Carrey is all that I was You are the vanguard of knowledge and consciousness; a new wave in a vast ocean of possibilities. On the other side of that door, there is a world starving for new leadership, new ideas. Fear is going to be a player in your life, but you get to decide how much. You can spend your whole life imagining ghosts, worrying about your pathway to the future, but all there will ever be is what s happening here, and the decisions we make in this moment, which are based in either love or fear. So many of us choose our path out of fear disguised as practicality. What we really want seems impossibly out of reach and ridiculous to expect, so we never dare to ask the universe for it. I m saying, I m the proof that you can ask the universe for it please! (applause) And if it doesn t happen for you right away, it s only because the universe is so busy fulfilling my order. It s party size! My father could have been a great comedian, but he didn t believe that was possible for him, and so he made a conservative choice. Instead, he got a safe job as an accountant, and when I was 12 years old, he was let go from that safe job and our family had to do whatever we could to survive. I learned many great lessons from my father, not the least of which was that you can fail at what you don t want, so you might as well take a chance on doing what you love. What s yours? How will you serve the world? What do they need that your talent can provide? That s all you have to figure out. As someone who has done what you are about to go do, I can tell you from experience, the effect you have on others is the most valuable currency there is. Everything you gain in life will rot and fall apart, and all that will be left of you is what was in your heart. My choosing to free people from concern got me to the top of a mountain. My soul is not contained within the limits of my body. My body is contained within the limitlessness of my soul one unified field of nothing dancing for no particular reason, except maybe to comfort and entertain itself. You are ready and able to do beautiful things in this world and after you walk through those doors today, you will only ever have two choices: love or fear. Choose love, and don t ever let fear turn you against your playful heart. What you are now is the dream of past and what you become in future is the dream of present.

4 Page 4 Farewell Party Farewell Party is one of most memorable moments in the life of class XII students. 5 Farewell Speeches Page 5 Good Evening Respected Principal Sir, Esteemed Faculty Members and my dear friends! It s an honour to be standing up here today. I know we all think we are immortal. We re supposed to feel that way, we are passing out. But my stay of six years in the school has taught me that life is valuable and it doesn t last forever. What makes something precious is how it ends. I realize it now that here more than ever, and I say it today to all that time is luck, don t waste it making someone else s life, make yours count for something. I am leaving from here today with a wealth of knowledge and I will always try to keep this treasure and the fantastic experience that I have had. I am thankful to all for the skills I have acquired. I feel, being here with you all, each day has made me a more competent person. We all hope for something good, but it s easy to feel hopeful on a beautiful day like today, but there will be dark days ahead for us too and that s when hope is needed the most. My wish for you, is to be hopeful. People need that, and even if we fail, what better way is there to live. As we look around here today, I see the people who helped us, who have prepared us to face the challenge. I know it feels like we are saying goodbye, but we will carry a piece of each other in us somewhere. To remind us of whom, we are and who we are meant to be. I ve had great years with you; I will miss you all very much. Pooja Patel (Class XII A) The world is full of expectations. This doesn t mean that we have to try hard to just stand up to them. What matters is, who is expecting from us because expectations come from love and affection; and this is what it matters to us. When we all grow up and at the end of the day come home from work. The thing every body of us would be doing will be expecting more from ourselves. So here is a gift of a Hitchhiker s guide to expectations. The world will be tough and full of challenges and somewhere in this challenging world, expectations would be acting like the two little red and white angles on our shoulders: some good and some bad. So under the pressure of them, whatever we do, the only thing we should not do is to let go and stop expecting from ourselves. Sometimes, it s not only for the man behind the mirror, but also those behind the curtain who made him become who he is You know, it s time to say good bye! Not only to school, not only to teachers, not only to friends, but also to the child inside you. No more tuck hunt, no more phone cry, no more late night Maggie parties and no more late night fun and on the contrary MC Donald s is not gonna be precious any more. What a pleasure to stand here and express my feelings. All of us were strangers once, but now we are a family and would give anything to stay tight and close. The golden moments which have been written in the books of history of my life are from this very place and this night is gonna be one of it. But within the next two months, all of this will change when we leave this campus and move around in the world outside the world of 48 acres. People will always expect from you, but what mattes is what you expect from yourself and you keep yourself happy because keeping yourself happy is not a priority, but a necessity. We will always find people who will try to mould us in their way, but what is important is to retain your identity and become a carbon copy. We have been taught enough to create our own identity and the time to prove our worth to stand apart from the crowd is just round the corner. With these humble words, this is your Grade 12 signing off, passing on the crown to you young ella s. with hopes that you will get success with flying colours. Abhishek Malav (Class XII B)

9 N E W S L E T T E R C R E A T I V E C O R N E R Page 9 When I was writing a limerick. I was writing a limerick, Someone threw a brick. I saw a man and told him Are you nonsense? He told, I do not have common sense. I asked, Why have you thrown a brick? He replied, Because I am sick. Then I gave him some rupees to buy medicine But he threw the rupees and made a scene. Days and days passed by, When once again, I was going through that same road, I dug up a hole, and what I found Was the same brick which hit me when I was writing that limerick. Antriksh Kabra (VII A) The New Day In such a way, let s start our day, Like the heaven sunrise And the chirping birds or a smile. Why don t we extend our arms to embrace happiness? Let s sing such a divine song to rise, To touch the morning sunlight, And feel the honour of being alive. Let s start afresh forgetting what happened, Let s move ahead what we have dreamt for, Le s wish everybody with the hope of same, Let s start a new era of joy And make this day the most beautiful day forever. Rishav Saraf, Class XII Under the guidance of Honourable Principal BIS Mr. Sanjay Tiwari, & Head Mistress Mrs. Jyoti Tiwari. Editor Ashwani Kumar (TGT,English) Special Thanks to Ms. Vartika Dadhich (H.O.D,English), Mr. Anuj (P.A. to Principal) & Photography Crew.
