We would like to welcome all employees of the Bath and North East Somerset Council, their families and friends to the club which arranges front stall seats usually on the first night of each performance, which in most cases now entitles us to a 20% group discount. In addition, there is the usual discount for each member (your membership number must be quoted and discount can only apply to member s own ticket. Without this we regret your booking will be returned). As usual we have 50 seats reserved for each performance and these will be allocated on a first come first served basis. Members Price Non-Members Price Tuesday 6th February 2018 Swan Lake By Saint Petersburg Classic Ballet Music by Tchaikovsky Showcasing the superb technique and artistic heritage from the cradle of Russian ballet the City of St. Petersburg- the company s performances have an air of magic, complemented by a full orchestra and outstanding soloists. The beautiful classic Swan Lake is the romantic story of the Prince and the Swan Princess, a tragic tale of love that triumphs over evil, set to Tchaikovsky s sublime, soaring dramatic score Tuesday 20 th February 2018 My Fair Lady By Bath Operatic and Drama Society Book and lyrics by Alan Jay Lerner. Music by Frederick Loewe Professor Henry Higgins and his friend Colonel Pickering come across Eliza Doolittle, a Cockney flower seller in Covent Garden. When Higgins remarks that he could train her to speak like a lady, Pickering challenges him to do so. Although

3 difficult and frustrating for both Eliza and Higgins at first, the lessons soon begin to work wonders, and produce results that never could have been anticipated. Numerous much-loved songs include Wouldn t It Be Luverly, The Rain in Spain, I Could Have Danced All Night and Get Me to The Church on Time. Members Price Non-Members Price Tuesday 27 th February 2018 The Importance of Being Earnest By Oscar Wilde Starring Gwen Taylor and Susan Penhaligon From the master of comedy, Oscar Wilde, a wonderfully witty, deliciously decadent and classic play. Jack wishes to marry Algernon s cousin, the beautiful Gwendolen, but first he must convince her mother, the fearsome Lady Bracknell, of the respectability of his parents and his past. For Jack, however, this is not as easy as it sounds, having started life abandoned in a handbag at Victoria Station. Prepare to take a turn with Wilde s much-loved Algernon, Jack, Gwendolen and Cecily, as town and country clash in a brilliant and wildly funny story of romance, identity, perambulators and capacious handbags. Monday 5 th March 2018 The Winslow Boy By Terrence Rattigan Starring Tessa Peake-Jones and Aden Gillett Having been expelled from the Royal Navy College for stealing a five-shilling postal order, young cadet Ronnie Winslow s entire family are pulled apart by the repercussions of this charge. Set against the values of 1910 Edwardian London, the Winslow family fight to clear his name or face social ostracism as the case becomes a national scandal. This highly-charged moral drama will have audiences gripped by the heart-tugging decisions facing each member of the Winslow family. Where will their sacrifices leave them and what is really at stake? Monday 12th March 2018 Pressure Written by and starring David Haig Set in June 1944 at a time when one man s decision is about to change the course of history, Pressure is an intense real-life thriller centred on the most important weather forecast in the history of warfare. Scottish meteorologist, Group Captain James Stagg, advises General Eisenhower on when to give the order to send thousands of waiting troops across the Channel for the D-Day landings. The future of Britain and the UK s relationship with the United States is at stake as well as the

4 lives of millions. Monday 19 th March 2018 This House By James Graham Directed by Jeremy Herrin It s Edward Heath has been ousted and the Labour Party under Harold Wilson has formed a minority government. In an era of chaos, both hilarious and shocking, fist fights break out in the parliamentary bars, high-stake tricks and games are played, while sick or dying MPs are carried through the lobby to register their crucial votes as the government hangs by a thread. Cecily, Wilfred and Reginald were once the brightest stars of the opera world and now they are looking forward to performing the quartet from Rigoletto to celebrate Verdi s birthday. Monday 30 th April 2018 Sherlock Holmes: The Final Curtain By Simon Read after Arthur Conan Doyle Starring Robert Powell and Liza Goddard Could this be the final curtain for the world s greatest detective? Sherlock Holmes lives in retirement on the South Coast. He keeps bees, occasionally casts his fly fishing rod, even plays his Stradivarius when the rheumatism allows. All too aware that he s older and slower, he s concerned that he might have lost his touch, paranoid that he is an easy target for his enemies: there have been so many over the years. He never truly believed Moriarty - his arch nemesis- died at the Reichenbach Falls. So, when Mary Watson (wife of his former associate Dr John Watson) tracks him down to tell him she has seen her long-dead son, James, through the window of 221B Baker Street, apparently alive and well, Holmes is determined to solve the mystery and confront his own demons at the same time.
