Tom is 55, today. As he dresses for his party, tangled threads of disappearing memories spark him into life, unravelling as a tale of friendship, love and guilt. Established in 2009, Theatre Re is a London-based international ensemble creating thought-provoking, tangible and poignant work that examines fragile human conditions and spans the boundaries of mime and theatre. 4 Theatre & Dance Macbeth Thu 10 May, 7pm (live) Macbeth Shakespeare s most intense and terrifying tragedy, directed by Rufus Norris (The Threepenny Opera, London Road), will see Rory Kinnear (Young Marx, Othello) and Anne-Marie Duff (Oil, Suffragette) return to the National Theatre to play Macbeth and Lady Macbeth. Last Resort Thu 24 May, 5.30pm & 7.30pm 2Magpies Theatre present Last Resort Last Resort is an alternative future for Guantanamo Bay. The waterboarding has stopped, the noise has been turned down and the military base has been reclaimed as a holiday destination. You, the audience, are our holidaymakers. You will sit in a deckchair, you will get a rum cocktail on arrival and you will feel the sand between your toes. We will be your tour guides. Join 2Magpies Theatre as they take you through the tropical haze on a unique multi-sensory package holiday. This is an extraordinary rendition and it is allinclusive. Last Resort is a menacing fiction, made entirely of unimaginable fact. Celebrating 20 years of her company and the work of one of the world s leading female choreographers, this piece examines the gendered historical significance of Medusa; the myth, the symbolism and the philosophical idea of reflection. 9 Talks Barry Cryer Thu 31 May, 7.30pm Linda Smith Lecture Barry Cryer We are delighted that the wonderful Barry Cryer has agreed to give the 2018 Linda Smith Lecture. A personal friend of Linda s, Barry has contributed to this country s entertainment industry for over 50 years. He has written for some of our highest rated shows and for many of our most popular comedians. His brilliant wit is still enjoyed by millions in theatres, on television and radio, notably the iconic I m Sorry I Haven t a Clue.
