3 Hi Welcome to your new timetable from May to December This summer will see the completion of the major Liverpool Lime Street improvement works that have been ongoing since spring last year. This will allow more services, longer trains and improved facilities at the station. Network Rail will be working on further improvements between 2nd June and 29th July, meaning that the station will be temporarily closed and our services will start and terminate at Liverpool South Parkway during this time. Onward rail travel will be provided by Merseyrail to take passengers from Liverpool South Parkway into the city centre. For all the latest information on the project, keep an eye on keepliverpoolmoving.com We re continuing to invest to provide the best possible customer service, and this summer we ll be launching m-tickets, allowing you to download your ticket straight to your mobile or tablet via our app. You ll even be able to use this to get through the barriers at our larger stations. 4 Travel assistance Every day we help people book tickets and we also provide a free service for our older and disabled passengers to get on and off trains and get around our stations. All our trains have wheelchair spaces and universal toilets with baby changing facilities. Car parking Find great value parking at many of our stations, you ll pay less after 1000 Monday to Friday and all day weekends and Bank Holidays with our Off Peak prices. More details at: nationalrail.co.uk/stations. Cycles on our route There are two cycle spaces available on each train, these can be reserved free of charge. Book in advance via the website to guarantee travel - eastmidlandstrains.co.uk/cycles - or call Folding bikes can be taken onto all trains without a reservation, as long as they can be safely kept in the luggage racks. A whopping 88 of our 90 stations offer free cycle storage and we have secure, state-of-the-art cycle hubs at Sheffield, Nottingham and Loughborough. Some stations have integrated changing facilities and even a local cycle shop for all your cycling needs, including repairs. 4

5 Ticket information and penalty fares A Penalty Fare is a charge given to anyone travelling without a valid ticket. It s easy to avoid them by making sure you buy your tickets before you board the train. If the ticket office is closed or the ticket machines are out of order, speak to a member of staff on the train and buy a ticket. Our ticket offices and ticket machines accept cash and most major credit and debit cards. Sometimes the ticket you require may not be available from the ticket machines. If so, speak to a member of staff at the station or on train and buy your ticket on board. If you re at a station where there aren t any ticket machines or a ticket office, where available you should use the on site Permit to Travel machine. For more information, pick up our Guide to Penalty fares at the station or visit eastmidlandstrains.co.uk Seat reservations You can reserve a seat for your journey up until 2359 the night before travel, and it s complimentary as part of Advance bookings. Advance tickets can be bought from our website or via the East Midlands Trains app. Have both your ticket and reservation with you when you travel. Delay Repay We hate to be late as much as you do. Our Delay Repay scheme is an easy method of claiming compensation for delays of over 30 minutes. Catering Fancy a cuppa? Our trolleys are packed with nibbles and drinks to keep you refreshed during your journey. They roll down the aisles of most of our services on the Liverpool to Peterborough part of the route. (You can see where in the blue shaded sections). 5

6 Luggage You can bring three items of luggage on board our trains, which can include two larger items and one smaller bag. Please put larger items safely in the luggage racks at the end of carriages and keep aisles clear. There is also room in the overhead spaces or under your chair for your bits and bobs. Please ensure you only bring the luggage you can carry yourself. Make your journey easier by having your luggage sent straight to your destination. Log your lost item on our easy-to-use online form at eastmidlandstrains.co.uk/ travelling-with-us/lost-property and our brand new system will keep searching for your item and keep you informed. If we find it, we ll let you know where it is and how to collect it. We don t charge you for storage or collection. Short platforms Don t be caught short by the train stations with different length platforms. It means only certain doors will open at the station so listen for on-board announcements about where to leave the train. Right Time Railway So we can get you there on time we run a Right Time Railway. For safety, and to make sure trains leave on time, train doors will be closed 40 seconds before the scheduled departure time. 40 seconds Train doors close 40 seconds before the departure time. 6

7 Local connections We ve teamed up with local transport provider pals to offer you great deals on your onward travel connections. Bus You can buy an integrated train and bus ticket called PLUSBUS to save money, which gives you unlimited bus travel for the day. Buy PLUSBUS tickets online: plusbus.info, from ticket machines or any train station. Stagecoach Bus offers services across the country, including major cities on our network including Sheffield and Lincoln. For more details visit: stagecoachbus.com For service details on local services call Traveline: Tram In Nottingham you can get a special discount on your NET tram ticket (single, return and weekly) when you buy it at the train station. An extensive tram network is operated by Supertram in Sheffield, catch one from the train station. Taxi Many of our stations offer dedicated taxi ranks including: Sheffield, Derby, Leicester and Nottingham. Visit: traintaxi.co.uk for more information. Airport connections Next time you fly, avoid those pesky parking fees by jumping on one of our handy connections. For Manchester Airport, our train regularly stops at Manchester Piccadilly where you can hop onto a Transpennine Express train to Manchester Airport. It then takes about five minutes to walk from your train to the terminal building as it s right next door. For Liverpool John Lennon Airport, once you arrive at Liverpool South Parkway station, a shuttle bus will take you straight to the airport. The journey takes approximately 15 minutes. 7

8 Engineering works Sunday 2nd June to Sunday 29th July Engineering works are taking place between Liverpool Lime Street and Liverpool South Parkway as part of the wider Liverpool Lime Street upgrade programme. Trains will only operate between Norwich and Liverpool South Parkway, and onward rail travel into Liverpool city centre will be provided by Merseyrail. On Saturday 23rd and Sunday 24th June, trains will only run as far as Warrington Central, with rail replacement buses provided by East Midlands Trains and Northern serving stations through to Liverpool Lime Street. Further information about the project is available at keepliverpoolmoving.com Sunday 26th and Monday 27th August Trains to Liverpool Lime Street will be unable to call at Warrington Central, Widnes, Hough Green, Hunts Cross and Liverpool South Parkway due to engineering works in the Hunts Cross area. Rail replacement buses will operate for passengers wishing to travel to these stations. Sunday 2nd September Engineering works are taking place between Liverpool Lime Street and Liverpool South Parkway as part of the wider Liverpool Lime Street upgrade programme. Trains will only operate between Norwich and Liverpool South Parkway, and onward rail travel into Liverpool city centre will be provided by Merseyrail. Sunday 7th October Services will run between Liverpool and Peterborough. A shuttle service will run between Ely and Norwich and rail replacement buses will operate between Peterborough and Norwich.
