E This impressive composition in three movements describes the travel of the twelveyearold orphan Willy, sailing as a stowaway on a goods ship from his birthplace Glissmouth to America, in search of a better life. The second movement contains a melancholic song evoking his lost love and the anxiety because of the unknown adventure. At his arrival at Ellis Island near New York, Willy realizes which opportunities for a new and happier life he receives. D Diese imponierende Partitur beschreibt in drei Teilen die Reise des zwölfjährigen Waisenjungen Willy, der als blinder Passagier auf einem Güterschiff, von seinem Geburtsort Glissmouth heraus, nach Amerika fährt, auf der Suche nach einem besseren Leben. Der zweite Teil ist ein Wechsel zwischen einem wehmütigen Lied das an seine verlorene Liebe erinnert und der Angst vor dem unbekannten Abenteuer. Bei der Ankunft auf Ellis Island bei New York, begreift er welch neue Chancen auf ein neues und glücklicheres Leben er erhält. F Cette imposant composition évoque en trois parties le voyage de Willy, orphelin âgé de douze ans, qui embarque à Glissmouth comme passager clandestin à bord d un navire marchand vers l Amérique où il espère avoir une vie meilleure. La deuxième partie fait contraster un chant mélancolique évoquant son amour perdu avec la peur de l aventure inconnue. A son arrivée à Ellis Island près de New York, il réalise qu il a beaucoup de chances pour réussir une vie plus heureuse.
