2 Nashoba Symphonic Band was organized in the summer of 2016 under the auspices of Nashoba Friends of Music through the efforts of Nashoba Regional High School Director of Music Joe McCarthy, NSB Music Director and Conductor David Bailey, and several founding members of the Band. Many of the ini al par cipants were dedicated community musicians seeking addi onal opportuni es to play together; with the addi on of new players, including many area students and educators, the band now has over one hundred members, drawn from more than thirty communi es. David Wayne Bailey Music Director and Conductor David Wayne Bailey is a graduate of the Eastman School of Music and Boston Conservatory. Following a s nt as composer/arranger for the U.S. Air Force Bands, he held teaching posi ons at The Kent School, Boston Conservatory and public schools in Somerville and Milford, MA. He has conducted bands, orchestras, and choral groups extensively throughout the United States and Europe and was a finalist in the 1978 Guido Cantelli Compe on in Milan. His commissions include composi ons for the U.S. Bicentennial Commission, the New York State School Music Associa on, the New Jersey Council for the Arts (Silk Road Project), and the Milford Performing Arts Center. Nashoba Symphonic Band is grateful for support provided by Nashoba Friends of Music, a dedicated group of volunteers who shared our vision of a new community band and enthusias cally contributed to making that vision a reality. Most concerts take place on Sunday a ernoons and are free and open to the public. Free will dona ons are gratefully accepted at each performance to help defray the costs of music, marke ng, and other concertrelated expenses. Concerts are programmed to appeal to a broad audience and children are welcome at all of our performances. We hope you ll join us for a wonderful season of music! Nashoba Symphonic Band welcomes new members throughout each season and encourages musicians who have experience playing wind, brass, and percussion instruments at an advanced high school level no ma er how long ago that experience took place! to join our dynamic and enthusias c group. No audi ons are required; students in 8th grade and above should get the recommenda on of their band director or private music instructor. We always need help the day of our concerts: decora ng the lobby and stage; staffing the program table; ushering; distribu ng program books; and working at the concession window during intermission. Ask about opportuni es to sponsor a performance: there are a variety of possibili es available for area businesses. Individual dona ons are always welcome. They can be made to Nashoba Friends of Music with a note that the contribu on is in support of Nashoba Symphonic Band. We also welcome your ideas for help and sponsorship!
