2 WELCOME! It is wonderful to be welcoming you to the musical delights of this 3 rd season of Havant's own Music Festival, which started when I was Mayor of Havant in 2016/17. I wanted to make a variety of live music accessible for those in this South East corner of the Borough, and also provide a platform for some of the very talented musicians in the local area. The Kalore Trio will be performing music by women composers in St James' Church on Saturday 6th April. Later that day, we welcome back Jay Jupe, one of the most promising young baritones in the country, who grew up in Leigh Park. The next day Meridian Winds and the Leigh Park Community Singers will be raising the roof of the Leigh Park Baptist Church and the Festival will end on a high note with the Speranza Quartet in St Faith's Church. But that is only the final weekend! Come and enjoy the Samba band on the first Saturday, or an evening of folk music while you enjoy an evening meal. Be inspired by the young singers of the Urban Vocal Group and the budding young musicians from the University of Chichester on March 28 th, the first night of the Festival. For the first time this year, we will be experimenting with some free, short lunchtime concerts from 1st to 5th April in Havant, Emsworth, Hayling Island and Leigh Park. Full details will be released on a special flyer soon. Do come along with your friends and support local musicians in local venues! I look forward to meeting many of you at the start of Spring! Tickets for performances at the Hayling Island Community Centre and Park Community School can also be bought directly from these venues. Other venues or performers may have ckets available to sell. Prices for all events are indicated in the brochure. Under-18's are half-price.

St Thomas More s School, Hooks Lane, Bedhampton, PO9 3DR The Sleepy Lagoon Orchestra Tickets 10 To sum up The Sleepy Lagoon Orchestra in a single word it would be "versa le". This evening's performance will feature music from Mozart Arias to Strauss Waltzes and even a Tango or two for good measure. Within our programme we will also explore music which is well known, some which will s ll resonate in the memory and some which should be be er known. The orchestra would love to see you as we journey through the repertoire of "Light" music. 2. Friday 29th March, 7:30pm. Brook Hall, Emsworth Bap st Church, North Street, Emsworth, PO10 7BY Folks in Harmony Folks In Harmony sing a cappella harmonies and our performance will be more than just a choir! As well as singing a great range of popular songs, we'll introduce you to some of our talented people who sing in small groups, play instruments, write poetry and perform comedy acts too.

No sea ng available Come and beat your feet and feel the heat of some great Brazilian Samba Reggae rhythms. 4. Saturday 30th March, 7:30pm. St Faith s Church, West Street, Havant, PO9 1EH The Renaissance Choir Tickets 10 This is the second of several themed concerts based on the major musical na ons of the Renaissance period (the Low Countries, Spain, Italy and England). This programme focuses on music from Spain featuring works by Victoria and Guerrero. The choir will sing a balance of intensely beau ful sacred works and jaunty secular pieces.

St Faith s Hall, The Pallant, Havant, PO9 1BE East Hants Townswomen s Guild Choir directed by Beryl Francis with Terry Dowes (Guitar) Songs for You Tickets 5 Our programme will be eclec c from, A Million Dreams (The Greatest Showman) to the Classics via Les Miserables and folk song. We really enjoy our singing and want to share our enjoyment with you. 6. Sunday 31st March, 7:30pm. St Alban s Church Hall, Bartons Road, Havant, PO9 5TE Central Hall Community Gospel Choir Singing is great fun and is proven to be good for you and this is never more true than in the case of gospel music. We invite you to join us on a journey of songs which will touch and li your spirits - everyone welcome!

Hayling Island Community Centre, Sta on Road, Hayling Island, PO11 0HB ChiJazz Comprised of some of the finest jazz musicians in the south, 'ChiJazz' will provide the basis for crea ng that wonderful evoca ve atmosphere that only jazz can inspire. 8. Tuesday 2nd April, 7:00pm. St James Church, Church Path, Emsworth, PO10 7DP Havant Clarinet and Saxophone Choir Jazz, funk and everything in between! Come, hear and support young musicians from the area playing lots of different styles of jazz music.

7 9. Wednesday 3rd April, 7:00pm. Meridian Centre, Elm Lane, Havant, PO9 1UN The Urban Vocal Group Meridian A er Dark Tickets 2 only available from performers or on the door (parking available for dona on) Come and enjoy an evening of contemporary vocals featuring over 50 singers performing a selec on of soul, pop and RnB classics 10. Thursday 4th April, 7:30pm. North Hayling Recrea on Hall, St Peter's Road, Hayling Island, PO11 0RT Spirit of the South & The Sunbeams Spirit of the South are a local women s choir who sing a cappella arrangements of songs, in 4 part harmony, in a variety of popular genres, from tradi onal, through the 60s to the present day. We will sing a varied programme tonight. The Sunbeams are a father and daughter duo from Hayling, with Michael on the acous c guitar and Vanessa with her wonderful voice; they will take you down memory lane and have you tapping your feet to cover songs from folk, rock, country and western, pop and jazz.

Friday 5th April, 7:30pm for 7:45pm Hayling Island Community Centre, Sta on Road, Hayling Island, PO11 0HB The Cour ers Tickets 15 including a bar meal A fish 'n chip supper will be served at 8.30pm. When buying your cket, please let us know if you would prefer chicken or veggie burger instead, ckets bought a er 29th March may not be able to have this choice. The Cour ers play an eclec c mix of music and songs from the folk tradi on in these islands and beyond. They fuse tradi onal tunes and contemporary selfpenned songs with an eye on local events and happenings on fiddle, flutes, guitar, bouzouki and an intriguing foot drum! 12. Saturday 6th April, 3:00pm. St James Church, Church Path, Emsworth, PO10 7DP The Kalore Trio with clarine st Robert Blanken The Kalore Trio will be showcasing some remarkable works from some of the great female composers, which deserve to be heard more o en. With a warm and friendly atmosphere, hear elt playing and expressive music, the Kalore Trio and Rob Blanken invite you to discover some wonderful and truly melodic music.

Park Community School, Middle Park Way, Havant, PO9 4BU An evening with Jay Jupe and friends A night of songs and different styles of music, from musical theatre to swing and pop. 14. Leigh Park Bap st Church, Stockheath Road, Havant, PO9 5NT Meridian Winds Leigh Park Community Singers We will have a lively and entertaining a ernoon of tradi onal and modern music. Light Cavalry, Strike Hard Strike Sure (dedicated to RAF Bomber command) and a selec on from Frozen.

10 15. Sunday 7th April, 4:00pm. St Faith s Church, West Street, Havant, PO9 1EH Speranza Quartet with Eunice Pike, piano The Speranza String Quartet is based in Hampshire. The two violinists, Cathy Mathews and Sue Bint, lead the Havant Symphony Orchestra and the Basingstoke Symphony Orchestra respec vely. They will play quartets by Haydn and Beethoven, and then will be joined by pianist Eunice Pike in Schumann's Piano Quintet. Meridian Shopping Centre prides itself on being a safe and welcoming place for you to shop, visit and enjoy our events. The Shopping Centre is in the heart of Havant and a real hub for the local community, so we are proud to host and show our support for the Havant Music Fes val. Havant Rotary Club is proud to help with funding the third Havant Music Fes val. Rotary is a service organisa on helping local and interna onal communi es, working with other Rotary Clubs locally so that funds are wisely spent and there are no overheads. In Havant, members raise money with the Christmas Sleigh, and support Young Carers, Seniors ou ngs, Southern Domes c Abuse, and many others. We welcome new members to join our friendly Club. 11 THANK YOU We could not achieve the Music Fes val without the generous support of our sponsors, Havant Borough Council, Havant Rotary Club and the Meridian Centre, the super performers, many of whom do this for love of music. Many churches and community halls welcome our concerts, and we thank them too, as well as the volunteers and staff of the Spring who help to sell our ckets. Especially though, I would like to thank the organising commi ee, all volunteers, who plan the performances, help with publicity and support each event. A huge thank you to all of them. Last year our efforts helped us collect nearly 1000 for Cllr Elaine Shimbart's Charity fund when she was Mayor in 2017/18. We also were able to put on a free workshop for primary school children, introducing them to the joys of drumming, singing and playing a harp. Sadly the cold, dark nights during the 2 nd Havant Music Fes val meant we had very small audiences, so we lost money. However, if our efforts this year succeed in making a profit, this will be put partly to fund the 4 th Havant Music Fes val, and partly to take music into schools as well as helping young musicians and some local musical groups. I spoke last September at a conference about the vital role music can play as a therapy for many, and with funding for music and the arts disappearing in our schools, we will try to do what we can to share with residents of Havant and young people the joys of listening to or making music.
