3 OLIVIA STAM, FLUTE Olivia Stam is a junior, double majoring in psychology and music and minoring in French. Within the music major, she is completing a double concentration in flute performance and arts management at Goizueta Business School. She began playing flute at the end of middle school, studying with Nicole Rabata in Portland, Maine. While in high school, Stam played in the Portland Youth Wind Ensemble, as well as in her high school wind ensemble and various other instrumental ensembles. She played principal flute in the Maine Allstate Orchestra during her senior year, and she played in the Allstate Band her freshman, sophomore, and junior years. In summer 2013, Stam played at the Interharmony International Music Festival in Sulzbach-Rosenberg, Germany. She currently studies with James Zellers at Emory, and she plays in the Emory University Symphony Orchestra and Emory Wind Ensemble. Last summer, Stam worked as an intern for the Portland Conservatory of Music and as a curriculum editor for the Portland Symphony Orchestra. After graduation, Stam hopes to pursue a career in arts management or a related field. CATHERINE MACGREGOR, VIOLIN Catherine MacGregor is majoring in music with concentrations in violin performance and arts management. Born in Marietta, Georgia, MacGregor began studying the violin at age six with Benjamin Baxter, and in 2012 she became a student of her current teacher, Jay Christy. In high school, MacGregor was a member of the Buckhead Youth Orchestra and Emory Youth Symphony Orchestra, and she has attended summer music festivals including Brevard Music Center and Bowdoin International Music Festival. In addition to her study with Christy, MacGregor has taken lessons with other instructors including Sergiu Schwartz, Michael Heald, Carolyn Huebl, Benjamin Sung, and Corrine Stillwell. Now a junior at Emory, MacGregor plays in the Emory University Symphony Orchestra (EUSO) and the Emory Chamber Music Program, and she works as a librarian and manager for the EUSO as well as with the two Emory youth orchestras. MacGregor plans to use Emory s liberal arts approach to prepare for the variety of skills that are required to be a successful musician. 3
