2 The World Music Day is back in China! Music for everyone and everywhere! The World Music Day aims to stimulate the music scene by making all types of concerts free of charge to a very wide audience, offering emerging bands a real platform to show their talents without forgetting to highlight live music scenes. Initiated 12 years ago in Wuhan, it has never stop growing. In 2018, from June 15 to 24, 12 cities (2 more than last year) will host this festival which welcome each year free concerts of French and Chinese groups, throughout the country. This year, Beijing, Shanghai, Ningbo, Wuhan, Nanchang, Shunde, Taiyuan, Chengdu, Shenyang, Tianjin, Xi'an, Hangzhou will host the Music Festival! Coordinated by the French Embassy in China, and as part of Croisements Festival, the World Music Day has the support of many national partners (especially Le Coq Sportif, Kronenbourg 1664 and Whaley VR) and local partners. The Alliance française is also joining the Embassy this year to make more beautiful a party that hosted, in 2017, 197 concerts, spectators and more than 3 million live-streaming viewers. The World Music Day is undoubtedly the most unifying and mediatised event of the cultural program of the French Embassy in China.

3 This year, the group Wang Wen is the goodwill Ambassador of the World Music Day. Wang Wen is one of the most influential post-rock bands in the country. His guitarist, Xie Yugang, is one of the main figures of the Chinese alternative scene. Xie Yugang attests again his collaboration with French music: in 2016, he had the opportunity to meet the French guitarist Serge Teyssot-Gay, founder of the legendary group Noir Désir, while touring China, and both musicians recorded late 2017 a disc which is the occasion on May 2018 of doing a tour in China. In 2018, 8 groups, among the best of the young French scene of the current musics, will perform in different cities. Authors of a pop full of vitality, the 4 boys of Colours in the street, return to China after the success of their 2017 tour! Cléa Vincent will bring a breath of fresh air thanks to her light and joyful pop across the country. The Ghost of Christmas duo will transport fans of Chinese pop-rock sounds in a ghostly and mysterious atmosphere. Lysistrata, will make the public dance on furious melodies. Pony Pony Run Run, willingly claims a global vision of music, pouring into their songs all the pop-culture that has made their education: radio and its ads, TV and its clips, clubs and dancefloors. The Latecomers will thrill the Beijing scene to the sound of their catch phrases and their biting irony. Cali, between tenderness, audacity, reverie and poetry will unveil the songs of his latest album on the occasion of his arrival in China. Finally, Babel will present an explosive, sensitive and powerful show to the Chinese public. The World Music Day will also presents 70 chinese groups. A bit of history... Created in 1982 by Jack Lang, French Minister of Culture, The World Music Day is a wide, free and popular festival dedicated to music, jazz, pop, rock and classical music. It was a very big success since its first edition. Now adopted by countries around the world, it is now celebrated in more than 100 countries on five continents, with more than 450 participating cities around the world. Several Chinese cities have joined this festival since the last eight years.

4 Key dates in Beijing In 2018, the World Music Day will host in Beijing, from 18 to 21 June, many french and chinese music group. For the french : Colours in the Street, Cléa Vincent, Lysistrata, Ghost of Christmas, The Latecomers, Pony Pony Run Run and Mademoiselle et son orchestre will do a tour in different place of the capital. For the chinese side : we are happy to welcome Little Wizard, Future Orients, AV Okubo, L+R, RoundEye, Deniz Tek, Acid Accident, Mimik Banka and Fishdoll. June 18: Outdoors concerts June 18 will be under the sign of hip hop and rap. The 77 Theater, a multifaceted artistic space located in a former disused printing house, will host The Latecomers, Mademoiselle et son orchestre, RoundEye and Deniz Tek. Spectators can discover these groups sipping French beer Kronenbourg 1664 from 2pm to 8pm. June 19: The press conference The press conference of the National Music Festival will take place at the French Institute in Beijing on June 19 at 3 pm, in the presence of Wang Wen, indie major rock band of the Chinese scene and Cléa Vincent singer of light. A mustattend event for the specialized and generalist press and professionals in the music sector. The press conference will be followed by a showcase and a cocktail party. June 21: The day! Noctambulists, rendez-vous on June 21st from 8.30pm for concerts in several emblematic places of the independent Beijing scene! This year, the Music Festival takes on a new dimension and spreads to every nook and cranny of Beijing! Mao Wukesong Livehouse will host Pony Pony Run Run, Ghost of Christmas, Futures Orients and AV Okubo. The hutongs will dance on the melodies of Cléa Vincent, Mimik Banka, L+R and Fishdoll at Yue Space, while the flaming music of Lysistrata, Colours in the street, Acid Accident and Little Wizard will thrill Omni Space! The Music Festival offers not only groups from France but also from Wuhan, Shanghai, Shaoxing and from all of China for a unique experience.

6 Hanggai Productions The Hanggai music group created the Hanggai music festival in Ten years later, Hanggai founded the world music festival «Water and Flowering». 7 FRENCH GROUPS COLOURS IN THE STREET Barely 20 years old and already with their first album on the shelf. In just three years, the group Colours in the Street have seen their vibrant pop take over the French scene. In 2015, these so-called wise guys brought out their first album, Royal, ladened with indie-pop sounds, Anglo-Saxon influences and French touches. The talented musicians haven t looked back. Soon after the album release, they took off to tour Asia, playing in China and Korea. They come back for the 2018 International Music Day to the delight of their Chinese fans. About Colours in the street Raised on Anglo-Saxon pop, the four kids of Colours in the Street were spotted as soonas they start playing. Winners of the Ricard SA Live Music prize in 2013, the band toured France, performing on some of the biggest stages of the country. Playing at festivals from Printemps de Bourges to Francofolies of La Rochelle, the Colours hardly stood still for a second before hitting fans with their first EP, Paper Child. CLÉA VINCENT The pop melodies of Cléa Vincent are disconcertingly honest. Always direct and spontaneous, this 30 year old Parisian continues in the French tradition of Michel Berger and France Gall. With a nod to her elders, she adds a rhythm marked by dance and movement to the minimalist arrangements. Played mainly on the piano, her songs, at first hearing light, soon become as heady as they are addictive. About de Cléa Vincent In 2014, she released her first EP Non mais oui on the independent label Midnight Special Records. The clip of her single Château perdu met with great success on Youtube. Retiens mon désir, her first album, was released in It was warmly received by critics and the public. At the end of 2016, she was invited to perform on the TMC show Quotidien. This was followed by a tour in France and Europe.

8 GHOST OF CHRISTMAS Ghost of Christmas is the marriage of the spellbinding voice of Martin Mey and the beat & bass talent of Gaël Blondeau. The duo brought out their remarkable first EP at the end of 2015, signed on the label Sounds Like Yeah! as well as a sweet series of remixes. A live show followed in 2016 on major festival stages including Nuits Sonores, MaMA, Marsatac, Badaboum, Chorus Festival, Festival Edition, Point Ephémère and Festival Yeah! In 2017, the duo returned with a second EP, Connect the Dots, a soundmix of UK bass and electronica. With this new project, Ghost of Christmas journeys further in search of its sound identity. On stage, the group s phantom universe expresses itself visually through a finely orchestrated game of double-exposure. Their silhouettes fade, split and blend into geometric shapes, lascivious evocations and travelling landscapes. LYSISTRATA Lysistrata is a guitar bass drums trio, with an energy and edge that blew people away at the last Transmusicales Rennes. In just few months, Ben, Max and Théo have established themselves on the French rock scene thanks to their intense performances and the passion through telling story. About Lysistrata At the age of 10, Ben and Max discovered rock. A few years later, college friend Theo joined them and the trio Lysistrata is born. From that moment, two things have punctuated their life: sound and scene. The three boys were quickly spotted. In 2017, they won the Ricard S.A Live Music Award out of 1186 candidates, after a wild performance of their song Sugar and Anxiety. PONY PONY RUN RUN From the best of British indie rock to 90s dance music, everything is mixed up in the energetic electro pop of Pony Pony Run Run, passing through a filter that keeps only the joy, the game, and the light. These former fine arts students from Nantes claim a globalizing vision of music, pouring into their songs all the pop-culture that made up their education: the radio and its ads, the TV and its clips, the clubs and their dancefloors. About Pony Pony Run Run Calling their first album, You Need Pony Pony Run Run, Gaëtan, Amaël and Antonin knew they d got the right balance. Released in 2009, the record, released on the platform Hey You, was met with tremendous critical and popular success: copies sold, one Victoire in the music category public revelation in 2010, and a tour that saw them perform throughout France and across the world - Japan, Poland, Germany.

9 THE LATECOMERS With 150 concerts under their belts, these musicians have dipped into various musical genres, including rap, funk, reggae, rock and gypsy swing. They no longer have anything to prove and they re not likely to give up their trademark humour and irony for anybody. About The Latecomers The group hails from Belgium, France s friendly neighbour, where it has established a strong reputation. The Latecomers is the story of two mates who decided one day to form a rap group. Today, they would simply like to meet Chinese audiences, expand their horizons and win over Chinese fans of French music. CALI Cali is coming to China in 2018 for a tour that is sure to be memorable. Performing material from his latest album Choses défendues, the rocker will communicate what for him is essential wonder at life which he expresses with smiles, dreams and forgotten childhood memories. Cali sings as he lives, with directness and sincerity; his melodies are full of boldness, strength, tenderness and occasional brutality. About Cali His last album, the seventh, is an ode to the teenage years, full of elegance, over-flowing emotions and intoxicating optimism. Cali is fully engaged with life: he reveals and recounts his personal memories and encounters, lets his guard down and lays himself bare. Upon the release of Choses défendues, Cali stated that I m lucky in that I write a lot of songs and some of them really move me. BABEL Musics sample musics come from all over the world, glide in the heights, and land on the dance-floor, the bow scratches strings before the hand caresses them, electronic keyboards burn on the big beat and the gravelly voice slightly flies away into loving, shouting and bleeding words. The four musicians gather the machine and the soul with the crazy energy of urgency, because everything is happening here and now. After a record and a self produced EP, two coming in Francofolies passing by Chantier and concerts everywhere in the world, Babel is coming back with Bless(s) and an explosive and powerful show. About Babel In the spring of 2010, the quartet band, Babel was discovered at the Terrain Neutre Théâtre (TNT) in Nantes. Far from conventional, Babel has a free-spirit style unlike a traditional quartet band. With their singing and instruments (guitar, cello, keyboard, and turntable) wonderfully harmonized, the artists go beyond traditional musical methods to deliver a surprising debut album.
