1 KNES PRIMARY (YEAR 1) MUSIC COURSE OUTLINE Choral Music: In this category children will able to develop their > Concept of expressions while singing. > Basic sense of synchronized singing. > Development of vocal range. > Learn to develop bass, middle and high pitch. > Concept of frequency in music. > Breathing exercises. > Balance and control of voice while singing. > Basic form of music. > Timber (texture, tone colour and quality) of the melodies. > Improve listening skills by hearing different sounds of instruments etc. Beat / rhythm: In this unit children use songs and activities to develop confidence in singing and playing to a common pulse. Pupils respond to and explore change of speed and repeat and create simple rhythm phrases. > Pupils will be able learn basic styles and rhythms. (Waltz, 2/4 and twist). > Steady or no steady beat. > By playing different percussion instruments,
2 (Tapping on tambourine, playing maracas, triangle, wood block etc) By doing action s while singing the songs (Clapping on beat, stamping feet etc) Music and movement / Dance, > In this category children will be able to dance on a piece of music on cd, keyboard, Short African music, March music, I like to move it, Macarena Some beats will be played on the keyboard. Class Rules: Students, please remember: If there is piano music played to stand up or to sit down, please be attentive all the time and take action. Make sure you keep practicing the songs at home in your free time, consider it as home work. Please do not talk or ask questions all together, ask one by one. Sit properly in the class, raise hand to reply any question. You should use washrooms before school and during scheduled breaks. You are not to be asking to leave class to use the washroom except in emergencies which should not occur often. Please keep your eyes on me all the time, as soon I give the instruction of being quiet, stop singing immediately. Don t interrupt while teacher is saying something.
