Dear music lovers, I am thrilled to join the Wyoming Symphony Orchestra during this exciting year as the orchestra chooses its next music director.

3 Dear music lovers, I am thrilled to join the Wyoming Symphony Orchestra during this exciting year as the orchestra chooses its next music director. We have a wonderful season of musical masterpieces focusing on the theme, Aspects of Love. From musical love letters to love of nature, each candidate has chosen music to highlight his own unique perspective of love. Music by Brahms, Tchaikovsky, Dvorak, Elgar and Rachmaninoff highlight the romantic spirit of the season. In addition, each concert will feature an extraordinary soloist performing some of your favorite songs and concertos. ome join us for each concert to see the contrasting styles of each candidate, feel the chemistry between the musicians and the conductor, and hear the beautiful sounds of the orchestra. 5 SEPTEMBER Passion and Longing Our 69th season celebrates Aspects of Love, and we open with two composers, Richard Wagner and Johannes Brahms, who expressed love in completely opposite ways. The program begins with Wagner s Prelude to Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg. Then talented soprano Yunjin Kim will join us for the Wesendonck Lieder, using her luminous voice to bring to life the burning passion of Wagner s love affair with a Swiss banker s wife. The first half ends with highlights from armen, opera s famous sultry seductress. The concert closes with the second symphony of Johannes Brahms, with sunny and cheerful music that masked his lifelong unrequited love for lara Schumann, wife of celebrated composer Robert Schumann. Our musical nature walk begins at the source of the Vltava River in the Bohemian mountains with Bedrich Smetana s Die Moldau. This search is for you, our patrons. We will conduct surveys at the end of each concert, as your feedback will be integral to this search; while we are positive each candidate coming in is uniquely qualified for the position, we want to select the person who will be the best fit for the needs of this community.
