4 S unita s Solo Harp book was published to complement her third recordin by the same name. Jewish melodies from around the Mediterranean and eltic music from the British Isles are woven toether to celebrate the unique role the harp has played in the folklore and music of both traditions. From Kin avid s healin music in ancient Israel, to the eltic bards of reat Britain, the harp has a lon tradition in both cultures. Sunita lives in Israel and has been explorin Jewish and eltic music for more than two decades. It was durin her early years there in the 1980s that she met her Scottish husband in Jerusalem and bean workin with Israeli musicians, developin her own style of Klezmer, Sephardic, and Israeli folk music. She also traveled to Scotland where she bouht her first clarsach (Scottish folk harp), and bean associations with musicians there, which led to invitations to perform and teach at the Edinburh Harp Festival. Sunita has also performed at the Edinburh International Festival Frine with her ensemble, VIA, and with the Jerusalem Symphony and the Minnesota Opera. While classically trained, her reat love is traditional music, and she performs both solo, and in duets and ensembles in Israel. Sunita has been playin harp since she was a child. She bean with teachers in her native Minnesota, and later traveled to study with some of the reat harpists of our time, in New York, Paris and Tel Aviv. She raduated from Tufts University in Massachusetts and earned her masters deree from the Manhattan School of Music. She later became a music practitioner and studied the healin properties of the harp in hospitals and therapeutic settins, and participatin in medical studies at Meir Hospital in Israel. She publishes articles about her work as a harp therapist and founded a non-profit oranization, NEVEL, to further the work and train harpists to become practitioners. Sunita performs and conducts workshops and master classes throuhout the world at festivals, music schools, and pubic venues. She has released 14 recordins on the Maxemilian, Excelsior, and Silver Linin record labels, and has published 12 books of her arranements for solo harp, and harp & flute.
