1 November 7, 2017 Sioux Falls SD Planning meeting 2018 Attendees: Julie Bent, Amy Lingbeck, Jeremy Billings, Ray Olson, Jon Hoffman, Mike Assarsson, Brad Bixby, Jay Hertel, Bill Chatwell, Bill Davis, John Shimota Call to order: Julie called the meeting to order at 10am. Review minutes: Review Last year s meetings minutes. No questions or concerns were raised. Treasury report: Savings - $ Checking - $ 2017 elections: The following are up for elections this year 1. George Lipetzky, Brian Peterson, Brian Rients, Ron Grisby may be candidates that are interested in running. The call for nominations will end

2 on 11/23. Biographies for all nominees should be sent to Ray for web posting and Amy no later than 11/21. Amy will send sample bio with the call for nominations. Elections will be open 12-4 through Announce on Our bylaws state that we can have 14 board members and 10 associates. George Lipetzky, Brian Peterson, Brian Rients, Ron Grisby were nominated. Jon H and Amy will run the website for the elections. Review of Associate Board Members all associate members meet the minimum qualifications based on our by-laws to retain their seat. Planning 2018 budget: Need to put together the estimated costs for the following: 1. Training costs $15K 2. Donations- SCTE Foundation, $1000 Bill motioned to increase to $1000, Brad seconded the motion. 3. Kathy Oaks tabled until January when new board is assembled. 4. Robotics program discussed providing a complete kit in No vote at this time, tabled until January when the new board is assembled. 5. ND Stem Jeremy reassess in January 6. SD Stem Julie reassess in January 7. SCTE course. What can we do, how much will it cost, how many can we bring in. Make sure there is equality to CableOne, MediaCom, Vast and Midco. Julie will investigate with SCTE to see what our options are. 8. CLC /expo $3000 for 2 to EXPO $3 for CLC 9. Board mtgs - $3, Cable team for North Country vendor days - Our top 4 are sent over to North Country if they will allow us. 11. Vendor Day - Total: Social Media: Website: - site is up to date. 3 2018 training dates I need committees of 2-3 people for each of these trainings. We will pool ideas for training, dates and areas to get on the national calendar. Our first one will be in Jan. and I want the dates and speakers for each training nailed down no later the 30 days prior to the date agreed upon. January Julie - Remote Phy and Hitron modems Jan 18 th. Jon Pederson will be the presenter. Training will be held in Aberdeen at the DEC. February Bill Davis will find someone/something related to PNM. Training will be held in Rapid City Feb 15 th. March Bill Chatwell will discuss IP video, OTT streaming. SF March 29 th or April 5 th. April CLC April th in St Louis, MO. o Who is attending Wait until after the elections to determine who goes. Send 3. May Vendor day- SF May 15 th Holiday Inn Fargo Fargo Jay/Jon will be primary. Supper location for the night before the show will be decided on by Jon or other Fargo folks. Speakers (2 good ones) WiFi and roll into IOT Real world DOCSIS 3.1 troubleshooting. Tom Heier to identify the speaker. June - Jeremy/Amy Webinar ArcFM, GIS, fiber training. Share info with other chapter to get team points. July: Nothing planned due to workloads. Aug: Nothing planned due to workloads. September Hankinson Casino Brad to come up with ideas and send to the board for review. October: - Atlanta 10/22-25 o Expo Winner to go All agree. Optional idea would be to send Brad he hasn t been but we will further discuss in the January meeting. November Planning meeting in Aberdeen? Confirm once the new board is set. Recruitment - Notes from the Chapter Leadership Call Nov. 6 th : Cap alliance membership renewal will take place in Jan Other membership renewals are taking place now. Virtue Games New Certifications BWS (Broadband Wireless Specialist),BFI (Broadband Fiber to the X ) and adding 3.1 to the DEP New Construction Docs = Coax Construction and Testing is ready, Fiber will be by EOY Currently working on Grounding and Bonding in relations to network Survival mass disasters. Be sure to have 4 th quarter Financials in by Jan 30 th so their audit can be conducted. National is moving their banking to Bank of America. Want to move chapters but unable to at this time. Updated Treasurers handbook out there. Elections 50% of the board must be up for elections. Pres/vic Pres terms started 2016 and sec/tres started 2016 also Conflict of interest form must be signed annually. Please do so. Strategic plan and chapter budget due in Jan. Please get out training schedules as soon as you can must have 1 per quarter All attendees will now receive a survey on the training after each one attended. Result will be funneled to the chapter until such time that they can automate this. Go over by-laws for 2018 in January after new board is set.
