1 Welcome to Angelstone A Guide for Officials 2016 Dear Officials, We would like to take a moment to reach out to formally welcome you to the Angelstone team. The strength of our company has always been focused on attracting the most talented individuals, and we are so happy that you will be joining us for our 6 th season here at Angelstone. We have compiled a list of useful information for you to use to make your stay with us more organized and enjoyable. We hope that you will enjoy your visit to the Guelph area and we have compiled a great list of our personal favorites for you. We encourage you to venture out from the hotel and see what the area has to offer. If there is anything we can do to make your time more enjoyable during your visit with us, do not hesitate to contact on of our partners and we will be most happy to assist. 2 Our Team Schedule Angelstone is hosting 5 weeks of events this season divided up into a Spring Tour and a Summer Tour with 2 weeks in a row beginning in June, then 3 weeks in August finishing in early September. 2

3 Arriving in Toronto For those of your arriving into Toronto s Pearson International Airport, be prepared for lengthier than normal processing times through customs. You can expect to spend an hour getting through to baggage claim. On departure, it is highly advisable to allocate extra time to fly out, as well. We recommend arriving at Pearson Airport 2 hours before your scheduled departure to provide sufficient time. For those of you traveling by rental car, you should plan on dropping your car off to the rental counter 3 hours prior to your scheduled departure. Please your flight and arrival information to Kevin Crosby at kevin@angelstone.ca, and indicate whether you will be requiring a rental car (including dates) or if you will be sharing rides with one of the other officials, as well if you would require a shuttle. 3

4 Picking up Your Rental Car Angelstone has 5 cars reserved with Zoom Rental Cars, located off- site from Pearson Airport, 5 minutes away. The cars will be reserved under your name and linked to Angelstone Tournament s account. Please bring proof of insurance with you for the counter, this is important, as well as any travel credit card that offers insurance. Typically, they only mandate insurance at $16.00 per day for drivers from outside North America. It is advisable that you call them to arrange for a pickup just as you re about to finish the line prior to customs. Do not call immediately after you land as you may be waiting in customs for an extended period of time. Zoom Rental Cars, number to call for pickup from Pearson Airport (know your terminal number): (CALL FOR PICKUP) Address: 5825 Dixie Rd, Mississauga, ON Operating hours: Mon- Fri 8AM- 10PM Sat- Sun 9AM- 6PM Early/Late Drop Offs: If you are planning on dropping off your car before or after operating hours, you may do so at the hotel next door (Best Western). They offer regular shuttle service 24hrs a day for a nominal fee. Early/Late Pick Ups: If you land at Pearson outside of Zoom s operating hours, you can make your way to Guelph using an airport shuttle service called Red Car. We will then have the car available for you the following day. Please advise to kevin@angelstone.ca if this case may apply to you. You can book Red Car shuttle reservations directly at the terminal (ground transportation) or online at or at Please add shuttle service to your weekly invoice for all applicable cases. Dropping Off: Please drop off the car 3 hours prior to departure, during business hours and one of their drivers will drive you to your terminal. Please keep your gas receipts to be attached to your weekly invoices for re- imbursement. 4

5 Driving from the Airport (Zoom Rental Car) to the Delta Guelph The drive from the Zoom location on Dixie Rd, should take approximately 40 minutes depending on traffic conditions to the Delta Guelph. Here is a map to assist you: Directions: 5

7 Hotel: Delta Guelph We have allocated a block of rooms for our officials at our partner hotel, The Delta Guelph. This is our official hotel provider and a long- term sponsor of the horse show. They are very welcoming to all our guests, and look forward to horse show season where they are full with competitors, spectators and officials. On most evenings after the show, many officials and riders gather in the bar area near the lobby, please feel free to meet some new friends during your stay! Delta Guelph, 50 Stone Rd W, Guelph, ON N1G 0A9, Guelph- Hotel- and- Conference- Centre Delta Hotel Fitness Facility Movati Athletic The Delta Hotel has a great fitness facility located next to the hotel, if you would like to make use of it, you can pick up a pass from the Delta s front desk for the duration of the stay. The name of the gym is called Movati and they offer free classes for all Delta guests. You can view their schedule of classes at the following link: 7

8 Travelling to Angelstone from the Delta Hotel The trip from the Delta Hotel to Angelstone should take you approximately 30 minutes each day. Here are the directions to the facility: Angelstone Show Park: 8720 Wellington Rd #50, Erin, ON (sometimes Rockwood in some GPS services). 8

10 Your Day at Angelstone Parking Please arrive minutes before the start of your first class, and park in the general parking lot, located by entering through the main gates (not the residence). In previous years, officials have parked in and around the main show office (close to the green barns); however, this is no longer possible due to the increase of traffic and due to Angelstone s fire and emergency provisions with the town of Erin. We request your co- operation in keeping this area clear from cars. Check- In Daily check- in for officials takes place (if applicable), at the main show office, located in a large site trailer next to the Astalos ring near the green permanent barns. Your clipboards, BLUE Lounge access wristband and radio (if applicable) will be located by entering the left side of the building. Victoria Clermont will be there most mornings to answer any questions you might have. 10

12 Food, Beverages and Lounges Angelstone offers a lounge on- site for officials to dine. The lounge is located at the Angelstone Stadium (large tent closest to the in- gate), called BLU LOUNGE. Please pick up a wristband from Victoria Clermont when you pick up your clipboards/radios in the morning on your first day, so that our lounge attendants can validate your entry. You are free to use the lounge as much as you like when you are on site. You also have access to these lounges during our special events on Thursday and Saturday evenings, including bar service, compliments of the team at Angelstone. Scheduling, Updates and Showgroundslive Last year, Angelstone rolled out Showgroundslive.com for our attendees. The system has been adopted at many of the top show venues in the world and we are happy to offer it as a means for our competitors, officials and trainers to get a clear picture on how- many s, ring statuses and results. We encourage all our officials to adopt the system on their iphones, where they charge a weekly subscription of $5.00 or you may use the FREE platform, which can be accessed at the following link: Any updates or schedule changes affecting your ring will be updated through Showgroundslive, so we encourage you to confirm your ring status before turning in for the night at the hotel. 12

Public WiFi Angelstone is located in a rural area that is not easily served by internet providers. We have WiFi access on the property; however, at this time, it is limited and designated solely to support our internal Showgroundslive server and office duties., as well as our live- streaming applications. We kindly request that our officials use their own data plans until a future time where we are able to allocate bandwidth more cost- effectively. We thank you for your understanding. If you are an official from outside North America and have a prohibitively costly cell phone plan, we can make alternative arrangements, please discuss with Ryan Clermont while on- site. Payments At the conclusion of each week, please visit the show office on Sunday afternoon and submit your invoice for the week to Angelstone s VP of Finance, Dan Galang. Please provide all receipts, including gas receipts for re- imbursement. If you do not have an invoice, there are invoice forms in the office that you can fill out for your submission. 14 Competition Rings There are 4x primary competition rings at Angelstone: Angelstone Stadium Main Jumper All- weather ring that is the venue s primary jumper ring, showcasing Modified Grand Prix events on Thursdays and Grand Prix events on Saturday nights. During August, the ring will be completely lit up at night by a number of lighting trucks from Dwight Crane, models used during production of Hollywood blockbusters. The ring has undergone a complete upgrade for The footing has been refined, the center grade has been removed and the ring has been expanded in size by over 30%. We hope that you love the big changes here at Angelstone! 14

15 Emily E. Clermont (EEC) Memorial Ring Annex Jumper This expansive turf ring is the most picturesque ring on the property. It is usually used as Angelstone s annex jumper ring (jumper #2), but is also used for some special Hunter Derbies and special events. ESI Main Hunter Ring This is our main hunter ring and features all- weather footing from ESI. Our resident in- gate, Mike Mordy does an incredible job moving trips through this very busy ring and is available to answer any questions you might have. Astalos Hunter Ring Also an all- weather ring, the Astalos ring is designated as our second hunter ring, and is located centrally next to the Running Fox Lounge closest to the show office. Derby Field A grass ring located at the very front of the property closest to the road, the Derby Field is designated as our third hunter ring and is designated for many introductory divisions focused on developing new riders. *Detailed measurements for these rings can be obtained by request from keean@angelstone.ca 15

16 Music and Sirius XM Chanel Selection Angelstone is keen to promote a particular atmosphere that is consistent across the property through the use of music. We understand that everyone does not share the same tastes when it comes to music, but we ask that you adhere to our music policy while working with us at your individual rings. The music we have adopted is in line with most high- end hotels like the Four Seasons and the W, and is set so that music is consistent as you walk from one end of the property to the other. Each judge s booth on the property has a Sirius Satellite Radio receiver at the PA, and shall be tuned exclusively to channel #53 (Chill). Music shall be detectable at the in- gates in all hunter rings (without being obtrusive), and at a moderate level in the jumper rings. Social Media As a progressive show venue, Angelstone works diligently to maximize exposure to the world through Social Media campaigns. As an ambassador of Angelstone, we highly encourage you to employ your personal feeds (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter) to reach as many people as possible. Your efforts in assisting us to reach a larger global audience will help us grow to even greater heights. 17 Live Stream Last year, Angelstone rolled out an internal broadcasting capability through livestream.com for our Thursday Night and Super Saturday events. We are very excited about this innitiative, and we will be offering our live stream on our website and on Facebook. We encourage you to share the link with all your subscribers and friends, when the link becomes available and help us bring Angelstone to the world! Super Saturdays We encourage all of our officials to attend Thursday (Modified GP) and Saturday (Grand Prix) during the season after you ve wrapped up your ring for the day. We put a lot of effort into making the evening as entertaining as possible and we hope you enjoy yourselves when you are visiting us at Angelstone and encourage everyone attending to dress up for these special events. Don t forget that all officials receive complimentary BLU LOUNGE access for these special events, with open bar. Sunday Nights with the Testies at NV Lounge in Guelph On Sunday nights, we will also be hosting a number of FEI celebration events in downtown Guelph. These events are not to be missed and are a lot of fun! Our house band, The Testies, who will be playing downtown Guelph on Sunday nights on our night off and they are truly incredible. 18 Local Restaurants and Nightlife Guelph is a city of 100,000 centered around the University of Guelph, located at the corner of Stone Rd. and Gordon St. near the Delta Hotel. There are a number of restaurants close to the hotel and downtown that we would highly recommend to our visitors. Restaurants Close to the Delta: Manhattans, 951 Gordon St, Guelph The team at Angelstone has been visiting Manhattan s for the past decade. Make sure to introduce yourself to Thomas (owner) on the way in and let him know that you are in town for Angeltone and you will be shown a great experience. They have the best wood fired pizza and steaks in the city, a great martini bar, and live jazz most nights of the week, plus they are only a minute down the road from the Delta by car. Fifty West (Delta), 50 Stone Rd. W, Guelph One of Guelph s best restaurants just happens to be located at the Delta Hotel. Make sure to take advantage of $5 cocktails daily from 4-7pm and $1 oysters on Thursday and Friday nights. Shakespeare Arms, 35 Harvard Rd. Guelph The closest pub to the Delta, located in the next plaza, a minute from the hotel. With 25 beers on tap and a great late night food menu, it s a good option close to home. The Keg, 49 Clair Rd. East, Guelph keg/ The Keg is Canada s national steak house, food is always good, and just a few minutes South of the Delta. There is also a movie theatre in the same plaza, to make it a dinner and a movie night. 18

19 Restaurants in Downtown Guelph Babelfish Bistro, 80 Macdonell St., Guelph International cuisine in the heart of downtown Guelph, this bistro is a great option for a night out in the city. Bollywood, 51 Cork St W, Guelph The top Indian restaurant in the area, it is a regular stop for the team at Angelstone. Try the lamb vindaloo if you like it spicy! Baker Street Station, 76 Baker St, Guelph A pub with an incredible kitchen, make sure to get in before 9pm as their kitchen tends to close early on most nights. Restaurants Close to Angelstone Heaven on 7, 262 Main St. S, Rockwood Our favorite local restaurant just a few minutes from the show grounds is Heaven on 7 in the village of Rockwood. Rockwood Casual Dining, 295 Alma St, Rockwood If you are looking for something easy, RCD is a great little restaurant to stop at on your way back to Guelph. Their souvlaki platter is a favorite of ours. Nightlife Apartment 58, 12 Wyndham St. N, Guelph This second floor club located in downtown Guelph, attracts a younger crowd and is always busy on the weekends. NV Lounge, 16 Wyndham St. N, Guelph

20 NV attracts a year old crowd and is open late every night of the week. Manhattans, 951 Gordon St, Guelph If you re into Jazz and live music, Manhattans is where you want to be. Located just a few minutes down the road from the Delta, they offer live music most nights of the week. Check their website for up- to- date listings for each night. Movie Theater There is a movie theatre called Galaxy Cinemas at the Pergola Commons located a 5 minute s drive from the Delta Guelph, show times are listed here: Galaxy Cinemas Pergola Commons: 85 Clair Rd East, Guelph cinemas- pergola- commons/map Medical Care and Emergencies Angelstone has an on- site medic to treat our officials in cases that would not require a visit to the emergency room or doctor s office, they are located near the rings and are helpful for most first aid needs. Should you require a doctor while attending, there is a walk- in clinic located down the road from the Delta Guelph. Foreign visitors may use the clinic on a pay- per- use basis.
