PROBLEM: Field does not have information for programming the Senco 5 amp sensor. SOLUTION: Refer to the following pages to program the Senco 5. This bulletin has been revised to provide a better description of operation. This bulletin provides default values for the parameters to begin the operational adjustment process.

2 Ryko Italia Senco 5 Amp Sensor WARNING The connection of the MINITERM (programming console) must be done when the Senco 5 is OFF. Any connections made with the Senco 5 ON could stop the communications between the Senco 5 and the MINITERM (programming console). This damage is NOT covered under warranty. The Senco 5 is used in controlling the top (horizontal) brushes for the rollover, conveyor and truck wash machines. In the rollover and truck washes, the top brushes will start in the up position at rest. The conveyors will have the top brush remain in the down position. After the brush begins to spin, the Senco 5 will go into a self-diagnosis mode for approximately 5 seconds. During this time, if you view the unit, you will see all of the level LED s light, and go off. This is the normal condition. As the brush makes contact with the vehicle, the LED s on the front of the unit will light sequentially as each level is reached. These are listed from 1 to 4 as follows: Swift, Contour, Venture and Atlas Level 1 Normal crush condition. The gantry will drive in the direction of travel with no adjustments to the height of the brush. Level 2 Brush will raise. The gantry will continue to drive in the expected direction of travel and the air solenoid will be activated to begin to raise the top brush. Level 3 Brush will raise and the gantry will stop. The gantry will stop until the level 1 or 2 values are achieved again. Level 4 Gantry will stop driving, drive in the reverse direction and raise the top brush. This is considered an emergency condition Conveyor machines Level 1 Normal crush condition. The conveyor will operate normally and no adjustments will be made to the height of the brush. Level 2 Brush will raise. The conveyor will continue to operate normally as the brush begins to rise until normal crush condition is reached again. Level 3 Conveyor will stop. Brush is raised to the up limit proximity switch is activated. LED s on front panel: When the red numbered LED s (from 1 to 4) are ON, they show the overrun of the respective level reached. When this occurs, the related output is disabled (off). The yellow LED E shows two different conditions of the status on the controller as follows: 2

3 Always ON. The sensor is supplied and is functioning normally. Blinking ON. The sensor has an error. In this case, refer to the following table to discover the cause of the error: LED 1 LED 2 LED 3 LED 4 ON OFF OFF OFF No motor current OFF ON OFF OFF One of more levels overrun the end scale. WARNING: If an error occurs, ALL of the outputs are disabled. The brush will ascend to the maximum UP position. Using the MINITERM programming console: The MINITERM connects to the front face of the Senco 5 using the provided cable. Please note that power MUST be OFF to the Senco 5 when this connection is made. On the display, you will see the data related to the currently selected parameter being displayed. When the machine is in operation and the Senco 5 is turned ON, the motor current is displayed. To select the parameters, follow the instructions below: To view or modify a parameter, press the button respective to that parameter. For functions that are preceded by ALT, the ALT button must be depressed prior to pressing the function key. By using the two ARROW buttons (up and down), select the new value. Be aware that the parameters are dynamic. Changes will occur at the machine as they are entered. Note: The arrow buttons will ONLY function for changeable parameters. As an example, parameters 8 and 9 show the motor absorbed power that cannot be altered. The buttons are not active at that time. Repeat the previous instructions for the selected parameters. To save the changes made to parameters, press the ALT button followed by the 8 or MEM key. This will save the input data and will be maintained if power is turned off. The display will show for about a second the xxxx sigh that denotes that the memorization has occurred. Programmable parameters description: Pr01 [Axxx] Level 1. Selectable from 0.5 to of the no load current. Pr02 [bxxx] Level 2. Selectable from 0.5 to of the no load current. Pr03 [cxxx] Level 3. Selectable from 0.5 to of the no load current. Pr04 [dxxx] Level 4. Selectable from 0.5 to of the no load current. Pr05 [Porx] Current delivery: 1 = 6 A; 2 = 8 A; 3 = 10A no-load current. Pr06 [PHxx] Number of periods for each measure (from 1 to 32) Pr07 [Puxx] Number of periods to the measurement of no-load current (from 1 to 64). 3

4 Pr08 [U***] It displays the no-load current value (cannot be changed). Pr09 [C***] It displays the present value (cannot be changed). Alt/9 [SEL9] Test mode outputs and LED s. Alt/8 [uuuu] Parameter save. Notes: xxxx is the selected values. **** is the measured values. Description of parameters: Parameters 1-4 These parameters will control the levels 1 through 4. The settings for these parameters will vary greatly by location. Each machine will be slightly different with several factors having a great influence. Brush material, detergent type and quantity, settings of flow control valves on air cylinders and individual preferences will dictate where these need to be set. Each parameter will need to be set individually (one at a time). Start at level 1 and adjust for proper crush amount. Then adjust level 2 until the top brush begins to rise. Continue until all 4 levels are set appropriately. Parameter 5 This will be the maximum current delivery. This should be set to a 2. Parameter 6 This will set the quantity of time that the amperometric sensor will measure the power. This will be determined by the brush material type as follows: machines 5 FoamBrite machines 10 Parameter 7 This will be determined by the brush material type as follows: machines 26 FoamBrite machines 32 Parameter 8 This will display the no load current value. This value cannot be changed. Parameter 9 This will display the present current value. This value cannot be changed. Parameter Alt/9 Test Mode. This will check the output circuits and LED s. In sequence, the led s light and the corresponding outputs are activated (no 24V output). To stop the test, simply select a different parameter. Parameter Alt/8 Saves the currently programmed values. Recommended settings: Please note: The tables which follow are only meant as a starting point or reference for you to tune the machine for proper operation. In the parameters 1-4, these will need to be adjusted to each individual machine for smooth operation and work with 4
