Thank you for joining the annual summer reading club for Perennial Readers! Gary Byker Memorial Library Adult Summer Reading Club for Perennial Readers Annual How the club works: 1. Join the program by registering at our library or online. Make sure to have your library card number handy! Registration begins Monday, June Read or listen to eight books from the required genres from June 12 through Aug 5. All items must be checked out through the Gary Byker Memorial Library. 3. Genres for 2017 include: Historical, Inspirational (to you), Mystery, Emerald Isle, Build a Better World, Nonfiction/Biography, Men & Women in Uniform and a book of your choice. Unsure of our genres? Choose another of your choice. 4. Each time you finish a book, fill out one of the mini-review slips provided with the author, title and your review of the book as well as your name and telephone number. 5. Those participants who read all eight books will win a $5 gift certificate from Gemmen s. They will also be registered to win our grand prize from Gemmen s a $100 gift certificate as well as other prizes like a 2017 Entertainment book and a gift certificate to Vitale s Resturant! All prize winners will be announced and prizes available on Monday, August 7, Sponsored by: & Friends of t he Library

MENTAL HEALTH FIRST AID CLASS Wednesday, June 21 9:00-5:00pm. Free. Mental Health First Aid is a public education program that introduces participants to risk factors and warning signs of mental illnesses, builds understanding of their impact, and overviews common supports CLAPOTIS CLASS Advanced Knitting Friday, June 23th, :00-8:30 pm, Free. Come knit a sample/mini clapotis, a beautiful and versatile accessory for any woman that s both a scarf and a stole. Supply list available when registering. PATRIOTIC BASKET WEAVING: Saturday, June 24 Held at Hillside Park 10 am to Noon. GLASS ETCHING CLASS Monday, July 24 Noon - 1:00pm Fee: $6. Join Laurie Zientek and weave a patriotic hanging basket! Fee: $18. Include 3 flowers/3 flags for an extra $6. Using glass etching creme and adhesive stencils, create an etched image on a wine glass and a drinking class. Please register for all programs by calling NATURE PHOTOGRAPHY WORKSHOP Saturday, July 22 9:30-1pm. Fee: $30 Craig Elston, City Naturalist, will teach the techniques of nature photography. Come at 9:30a for a pre-shoot in the library butterfly garden, followed up by the workshop and another outdoor shoot to practice what you learned. SUMMER USED BOOK SALE Thursday, July 27 - Saturday, July 29** 10am. **Stuff a bag Saturday or only $5! Find your next great read among hundreds of used books! DVDs, CDs, audio books and more also available. SOLAR ECLIPSE PROGRAM Tuesday, August 15 7:00-8:30pm Learn about the upcoming solar eclipse from an expert! Free. A family program. SOLAR ECLIPSE BOOK CLUB Thursday, August 17 7:00-8:30pm To celebrate the 2017 Solar Eclipse, join us for an adult book discussion of A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur s Court, by Mark Twain. SOLAR ECLIPSE EVENT Monday, August 21 2:00pm. Peak viewing: 2:21pm Join the library to witness a partial eclipse of the sun! Receive your free viewing glasses at the library.
