Staff Interviews Sinclair Branch Manager, Patty McCulloch I love my library because I love dealing with all the elements of my area. The library is the heart of the community. I would love it if I had the money to be open more hours. Circulation Manager, Kim Jones I love my library because there is something new every day; new stories, information, and a lot of options. Libraries should be like your living room, a big lazy girl chair, cup holder big enough to hold a Big Gulp, and a sunny window. Medicine Bow Branch Manager, Bonnie Culver I love my library because I love the books and the people. I am hoping to have more families getting involved at the library together. Children s Librarian, Becky Slater I love my library because I get to work in a friendly environment. It would be nicer if we had more space to work more efficiently and a better location.

5 Your Library page 5 Hanna Library Card Sharks Teens Monday, December 9 4:30 pm - 5:30 pm Join our monthly card game club! Bring your own or learn a new game. Let s Talk Teens Teen Librarian, Whitney Walker, speaks out Being a teen librarian has always been my dream job. Honestly! Ever since I decided to become a librarian I knew I wanted to work with young adults. I ve always related well to teens. This is because I know how to think like a teen, I love to read YA novels, but most importantly, because I appreciate what teens are going through. I know that they need their own space and voice in the community and that the library is the perfect spot for that. I want the teens in Carbon County to know that they have an advocate and a friend in me, that they can come to me with their suggestions and ideas for library programs and new books, and that I am always here to listen to them. I ve come a long way since the early days of my career. 6 years ago, when I was a Library Assistant in a small library in Colorado, I started teen programs where we didn t have any. Today, I try to do about one teen program in Rawlins a week, and my programs range from video game tournaments to contests to wild and crazy lock-ins. Working in Carbon County has given me the tools to create a fun, safe environment for teens and a place in the library that s just for them. Have a Ball of Yarn...
