Nzoko head hing mong in he bushes aound him. On looking up, and o his amazemen, he saw a lile faiy man. "Do you know wha I have ce fo? he faiy asked. "No", I'm... I'm ve..jy so..y bu don'," answeed he boy.

So I have ce o hea fo mylf and I will ewad you well if you impess me oo." Nzoko did no nd elling wice. He was quie a ea wih he lile man now, and he began o play muc so sw ha i enanced he faiy, making him ay on unil he moon o ove he dian hills. Befoe leang, he asked Nzoko wha ewad he deed mo. "The faiy fiddle, plea. 1 have head i said ha i is he fine in he whole wide wold," he boy eplied excanly. e F "'The faiy fiddle!" exclaimed he faiy, gealy aonished. "Tha is he mo pecious gif, and onlone who fulfils he h condiions will obain i. Now lien caefully, Nzoko: you playing mu be so enchaning ha i will cham he bids ino opping hei own muc o lien; you muc mu make animals op hei fighing and finally, you unes mu heal he ck. Take his ing, and when you have woked had enough, and only hen, un i and i will bing you he faiy fiddle," he faiy said and hen vanished. In he following days. Nzoko played evey song ove and ove, ying o make each bee and bee. He ied o lence he muc of a blackbid wih his own bu o no avail. Howeve, he didn' give up and one sunny afenoon, hee suddenly gaheed a wide cicle of bids: obins and wens, finches and blackbids, cuckoos and wagails. And hey liened. Could his be he fi condiion fulfilled? Seveal days lae, he head a gea din cing a fam. On checking, he saw a fox unning afe cackling hens, waning o un hem ino a meal. Wihou ealizing i, Nzoko aed playing his flue loudly and as if by magic, he fox meled away. Thus, he cond condiion was fulfilled. On ye anohe day. as he dove he goas he, he head a child cy weakly in agony. He ed hough he window of he coage and saw a lile gil lying in bed, le and won. The mohe mu have gone o look fo hebs. Nzoko's eyes welled wih ea, and as if diven by foce beyond him, he aed playing a mey une on his flue, hen a meie one ill. And, slowly, vey slowly, colou began o cp back ino he gils face and afe a lile while she asked fo food. The hid and la condiion fulfilled?
