1 THE WHALER ULYSSES CLUB - FLEURIEU BRANCH NEWSLETTER February 2016 Editorial: Dear friends this is my last Whaler as editor and I would like to thank you all for your support as readers and for information and input throughout the past 3 and half years. I have enjoyed keeping you all abreast of what is happening with in our branch and the wider Ulysses club. I will still be around and about helping out etc. but my time on the committee has come to an end. (So here is a mystery for you to ponder.or is it?) - Geoff from Aberfoyle Park President s Report Hello everyone Your committee have hit the ground running in 2016 and likewise the Odyssey Sub- Committee for Seven Months to go and everything is pulling together nicely! I will leave Hobbit as the Chair of the Odyssey Sub-Com. to give you regular updates, but as the framework comes together, it is looking very exciting. Meanwhile, back at the ranch, for those of you not going to the AGM in Tassie, don t forget that the Adelaide Branch are hosting a not the AGM weekend at Naracoorte Feb. Please contact Wendy King on / wendyking41@bigpond.com if you are going as well as book a spot in Naracoorte Caravan Park ring more info on the Adelaide Branch Ulysses website. For AGM ers, Tassie is also looking very good. Lots of information is on the NATCOM website; There are a few bike companies offering test rides BRP Can-Am Spider, Suzuki, BMW, Harley, Kawasaki, Victory, Indian, MV August, Royal Enfield, Triumph and Braaap. What is the latter you may ask; its Australia s own motorcycle and it comes with a lifetime warranty log on to google and get lost in their website! Update on Bottler (Lee Kennedy) is that she will be in McLaren Vale Hospital now for another five weeks. If you have time to visit her, please do so. Finally June 2016 is the Fleurieu Branch AGM. Many members have volunteered on committees in the past, but to prove that this is fun and not that hard.notwithstanding it is

2 about OUR Branch, we will be holding the April Committee meeting at the Alma Hotel Monday 4th April at 7.30pm. Members are welcome to come along, so they can see how absolutely dreadful being on the committee is!!!! Seriously like everything it is as fun as you make it. Rides Report Coastal Cruise 31st January What a fabulous beginning to the branch rides in The weather was absolutely perfect with no wind and sunny skies. The car park was full with very enthusiastic Ulysses members ready for a cruise. It is so good to see visiting members from other branches and a new face in the group, Pawel (pronounced Pavel). It was great to hear the chatting and laughter when the mob gets together. It was an impressive sight to see a line of motorbike headlights stretching almost from McLaren Vale back to Willunga in my rear view mirror. We made it through McLaren Flat without having to use the 'Hollis Manoeuvre ' and headed along Moritz Rd. The countryside is looking stunning at the moment and a joy to see. We wobbled our way to Wistow and onto Langhorne Creek for wee break. After lots of laughter and catching up, we remounted and set off to the coast along Lake Alexandrina. It was hard riding past the bakery at Milang but we pressed on to Clayton. We rode through Clayton and it is very pretty with the water, boats and parks. A lovely little duck through the wetlands to Currency Creek and then onto Middleton For lunch. We took over the dining room and gave a rousing Happy Birthday to Kym's Dad who was there celebrating his 91st birthday with family friends. The meals were good and promptly

served. It was another chance to catch up and have a chat.

Thanks to all who came on the day and made it such a great event.
