1 NewsBite May 7th 2015 Interview with Mr. Tom Badou Nava: How long have you been working here? M. Badou: I've been at the school since 2003 but I only started to work in the Anglophone section as school administrator since N: What do you do exactly? M. Badou: I help Mr. Miller, administrative officer, I help my colleagues. Multitasking really! N: What do you like about the school? M. Badou: I love the students, the people I work with, the atmosphere. N: What do you like about Lyon? M. Badou: I like the fact that it s big but not too big and how a lot of things are going on all the time! By Nava Gottlieb, 5éme. Movie Review Avengers 2: Age of Ultron The Avengers: Age of Ultron earned million within the first three days of showing in the United States. I thought the Age of Ultron is a solid sequel, but it is not as good as the first Avenger film. The action is the biggest strength of the film, just like all recent Marvel movies. It's incredibly fun and exciting to watch. The humour was pretty good too, although I found that it was a bit over the top and not always used at the best moment, similar to Thor: Dark World. Marvel also did a relatively good job of developing the characters, considering that this film had even more superheroes than the first Avengers, as well as incorporating lesser superheroes from previous films, like War Machine and The Falcon. Overall I would give the film a 7/10. By Rachel Mery, 3éme. Lyon by Anna
2 By Anna Plouvier, 3éme. Marc s Music Recommendations - "The Sound of Silence ", is classic folk rock/soft rock piece. Simon and Garfunkel's two beautiful voices, perfectly merge taking you on harmonious journey far, far away... when should you listen to it, preferably on a Friday night comfortably seated in your biggest, most comfortable sofa (with some tea or anything soothing ). -"Television rules the Nation" one of Daft Punk's grooviest pieces. Pioneers of the "French touch movement" (deep house/electro movement ) the Daft Punk's simple but efficient riff is as catchy as can be. If you're looking to party, this songs heavy bass and beat will get you moving in no time. By Marc Buathier-Phillips, 1ére. News from Primary News from the classroom CP CPs have been learning about life-cycles and produced their own booklet about frogs. This week, they will be planting beans and radishes. This week the children will be going to see Singing in the Rain in English as part of a joint project between a French class and the Section. CM2 The CM2s have started an exciting film-based project using ipads. The children have been learning how to use imovie stop motion and recently produced some minifilms. However, larger productions are underway with a grand finale in June. News from the Library There are some exciting new competitions in the Library!. CPs are to design a new Mr Men/Little Miss character and give the character a name.. CE1 and CE2 have been asked How do you train your dragon? They need to draw their own dragon and give it a name.. CM1 and CM2 are to read a passage from War Horse by Michael Morpurgo and illustrate it. The competition closes on June 5 th. Please encourage your child to take part. A big thank you to Mrs Bonucci for all her great ideas!
4 Please note there is a suggestion box in the Library if your child would like to put forward the title of a book s/he would like to see on the shelves. All suggestions welcome. Pauline Jottrand NewsBite: How did you get interested in ILYMUN? Pauline Jottrand: When I was in 2nde, I started going to MUN (Model United Nations) every Thursday. We debated a new issue each week and I really enjoyed it. Later that year, there was the first edition of IlyMun and I participated as a delegate. NB: Could you tell us more about ILYMUN? PJ: ILYMUN is a three-day conference which hosts about 300 high school students from France and other countries. These students are delegates and each represents a country and debates on global issues. NB: Tell us what happens in the meetings. PJ: The MUN meetings happen every week and are open to all students. It is organized by the students who chose the week s topic. As for ILYMUN, the debates take place in different committees each debating a different issue. NB: What do you want to do when you re older? PJ: I m not sure exactly what I want to do later. I would enjoy working at the UN or in an NGO for the environment or human rights. NB: Which poster would you have voted for? Why? PJ: I really couldn t choose all the posters were interesting! NB: Thank you!
