Without recognizing each other, they begin to hurl insults. After recognizing each other, a typical argument between this father and son ensues. Kanji and his father both display their typical vulgarity of character and language style by insulting each other in Taiwanese. The clerk, who is younger than Mrs. Hua and her friend, is unable to comprehend which item she is requesting, as she doesn t know the Taiwanese names. This scene demonstrates the linguistic attitude of Taiwanese as being old-fashioned and obsolete to young Taiwanese.)
