1 The Summer Love (Yourself) Bootcamp Week One Self-love is simply the act of treating yourself like a human being - being able to laugh at yourself, shrug your shoulders when you mess up, give yourself a break, and realize that you re perfectly fine, just as you are, imperfections and all. - amy b. scher Pledge for Kick Ass Self-Esteem (it starts when you want it bad enough!) I ve had enough! Enough of beating myself up, trying to be perfect, believing everything everyone ever told me. Believing everything I ve told myself. Today, it stops. Today I turn toward the sun I vow to look for the positive things about myself and positive things about my life.
2 I choose to let the patterns that no longer serve me.fall apart. I choose to re-build myself the way I want to be. To be proud of this me that sometimes isn t perfect. And to laugh anyway. To be happy even when I don t live up to my own expectations or those of others. To be happy especially then. Because it means I m human. And there are no requirements for that except to live and do the best I can with what I have and have some fun along the way. That s my only goal now When I get stuck, I ll ask myself these questions: -Am I living? -Am I doing the best I know how with what I have at this moment? -Am I trying to have some fun along the way? And if I can answer yes to even one, I will tell myself I rock. Over and over until I m sure I believe it.
3 Steps to Redefining Your Perfect Self Perfection is a state of feeling, not being. When we try to aim for being perfect and use expectations of things or actions that will make that happen, we are likely to end up disappointed. When we learn to identify what would make us feel good and aim for that, our life become easier and the journey to love ourselves flows! #1: Realizing where you are and where you want to be - What has your vision of perfection been so far? Always doing the dishes, getting praise from bosses, having a perfect body, etc. - Redefining perfection in terms of how you want to feel: What do you want it to be like? Remember: we are aiming for feelings Feeling comfortable in your skin, feeling good even when you don t get the chores done, etc. How You Kicked Ass In Class One On the call, we used Ask & Receive to release old energy patterns connected with your old vision and standards of perfection and you created a new affirmation about being perfect. What does your new perfect self feel like? I choose to feel or I want
4 #2: Becoming Observant of Yourself Learning not to judge ourselves is an important part of learning to love and accept ourselves. When we judge ourselves and others, we end up in a comparison game - a bad habit that never makes us feel good. Remember, we are humans and have opinions so you are free to notice what you want about yourself and others, but judging if it s good or bad is where the danger is. The key is to acknowledge or observe the thought and then shift to a positive instead of focusing on the lack in yourself. Nothing good ever comes from focusing on lack. There is a two-part, easy way to change! Part 1: Observe & Acknowledge Instead of judging yourself as lacking or not perfect, use an acknowledgement phrase. My favorite acknowledgement phrases are: - I m just human. - This is where I am right now. - It is what it is.
5 Part 2: Shift Your Focus To Where You Want to Be Recite the positive affirmation you created during the call Example: If you find that you re beating yourself up about not eating perfectly healthy, a positive way to change the energy would be to say, I m just human & I choose to feel happy at any weight (or whatever your affirmation is). How You Kicked Ass In Class One On the call, we used some personal peace tapping to help release the energy, emotions and causes of our self-criticism and judgment.
6 #3: Releasing Resistances to Feeling Good and Loving Yourself Resistance or blocks are very common when we re trying to meet a goal. Often these resistances are subconscious because we perceive there is a risk or danger in changing our patterns. Often the triple warmer meridian (an energy pathway in the body responsible for our fight, flight or freeze response) is at play here. Common reasons for resistance to loving and accepting ourselves: It s not safe for me to shine because someone else might be threatened Holding myself to a high expectation gets me the attention and credit I feel I need I worry that without my self-criticism, I ll lose my motivation to do well I don t deserve to love and accept myself I m afraid I ll be bragging or look egotistical if I love myself How You Kicked Ass In Class One We used Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) to release resistance to loving and accepting yourself.
7 Technique Cheatsheet These techniques will help you start to re-pattern some of your self-criticism and balance your energy in relationship to old patterns. There are three of my favorites! I call bullsh*t! technique. This is a playful vs. critical way to stop yourself from repeating the judgement and criticism loop. It interrupts the old patterns and allows you to set a new one. Every time you find yourself in an old pattern that s not aligned with loving and accepting yourself, simply say I call bullsh*t! Then, repeat the affirmation you created for yourself. Tap in the good feelings! We all have the moments of feeling good about ourselves, but they are often fleeting at first. This will change, but for now, there is a way we can reprogram the energy linked to your nervous system to be more joyful, uplifting, and lifeaffirming. The next time you feel positive, reinforce this energy by "tapping in" the joy at your third eye, the point between your eyebrows just above the bridge of your nose. (Donna Eden Energy Medicine technique) Tap with a steady beat for 10 to 12 seconds.
8 Spleen hug Having negative feelings about ourselves can throw us into the fight, flight or freeze response because we are feeling attacked; even if it s our own doing (self criticism). The spleen hug is a great way to calm the body down and balance the energy system, therefore creating a new pattern. Note: Rocking side to side as you do this enhances the effect. (Donna Eden Energy Medicine technique) Watch this short video and follow along. Once you do it once, you ll always remember how!
9 Bonus #1: Love Frequency Library Solfeggio frequencies are comprised of a frequency required to balance your energy and keep your body, mind and spirit in perfect harmony. 528hz is knows as the miracle frequency and the love tone. The frequency has been tested and is thought to be very powerful for healing. I believe it helps us to raise our vibration and enhance our love and acceptance of ourselves - in other words, help us heal us both physically and emotionally. Here are my favorite tried and tested frequencies to use as meditations or background music. I use them as my own love frequency library.
