2 Releases NEW EVENT & PROMO IDEAS We did a Fantastically Strange double feature with Fantastic Beasts and Doctor Strange. We had over 300 in attendance, did our own marketing and raffled prizes for both films Marvel 2018 Solado Movie, LLC & T.M Lucasfilm Ltd Ant Man & the Wasp Available 9/19 Double Feature Recommendation: Ant Man Pair this sci-fi superhero flick with a showing of its predecessor the 2015 shrink smash Ant Man. Generate even more buzz for your event by constructing a giant-sized Hello Kitty PEZ dispenser just like in the film that students can take photos with to appear ant-sized themselves! Sicario: Day of the Soldado Available Now Double Feature Recommendation: Sicario Benicio Del Toro and Josh Brolin return in this much-anticipated sequel to the 2015 crime thriller Sicario. Show them both on campus and invite your campus wellness center to set up a booth at the event so they can share resources on drug or alcohol-related issues. Solo: A Star Wars Story Available Now Double Feature Recommendation: Star Wars: The Force Awakens Couple this space Western prequel with Star Wars: The Force Awakens to create a far out movie event. In between the two films, entertain the audience by hosting a Chewbacca impression contest or Millenium Falcon-themed paper airplane competition. Pass out bug-shaped gummy candies while spreading the word about your event. Dress up as FBI agents to hand out flyers for the showings! Construct a classic lemonade stand on campus to hand out free lemonade in Solo cups while blasting a playlist of songs featuring the word solo. At your tabling booth, see if students know their A-B-C s of ABBA by asking themed trivia questions for fun prizes! Uncle Drew Available Now Double Feature Recommendation: Space Jam Double dribble your showing of this new release by teaming up with the classic basketball film Space Jam. But don t limit the moves to the screen. Make your event a slam dunk by hosting a three-on-three tournament before the show. Winning team gets bragging rights and the best seats in the house. Pass out dunk aroos and mini basketballs featuring the event s details to get the word out. Tag Available Now Double Feature Recommendation: Life of the Party Tag is about a group of adult friends who kept in touch over the years thanks to a decades-long, ongoing game of tag. Life of the Party is about a middle-aged woman who goes back to school to finally earn her degree. Screen both films alongside child-themed activities, like tag, coloring and musical chairs, to spread the message you can always be a kid at heart! Share the event on social media and ask people to tag the person they want to go to the event with by commenting their name. Person with the most tags wins free concessions! 4 Releases NEW EVENT & PROMO IDEAS We showed a movie in our campus pit. It s an underground area beneath our library. It s the first time the space was used in at least five years. Lions Gate Entertainment, Inc. STX Entertainment Paramount Pictures A Simple Favor Available 10/26 Event Idea: This mystery thriller is based on the best-selling novel of the same name by Darcey Bell. Honor its literary origins by making the event s locale one of your campus libraries. You could even have a librarian share some of her top book picks for the upcoming year. Peppermint Anticipated 11/21 Event Idea: After her family is brutally murdered, a young mother trains for years to transform her mind and body in order to take justice into her own hands. Show this vigilante action thriller inside your school s rec complex to spotlight the services and equipment available to students. Mission: Impossible - Fallout Anticipated 10/11 Event Idea: Ethan Hunt and the IMF team race against the clock to prevent a nuclear attack. Spotlight the people on your campus who work every day to keep students and faculty safe by hosting this action spy movie event at your campus security headquarters. Challenge students to do simple favors for their friends or even strangers. Ask them to share their good deeds on social media using a campus-specific hashtag to spread the impact. While tabling, include all things peppermint at your booth. Hand out peppermint candies or gum, diffuse peppermint oil or feature a game with prizes like peppermint soap or flavored coffee! Play off the race against time aspect of the film by hosting minute-to-win-it games in your student center while promoting the event. 5 Host movie showings inside underutilized buildings or spaces to broaden students familiarization of the campus and spotlight just how amazing your school really is! Whitney Anticipated Now Event Idea: This documentary spotlights the life and legacy of legendary singer Whitney Houston, including her painful past and struggles with alcohol and drug addiction. Show it at your campus wellness center and highlight resources available to those struggling with mental health or addictions of any kind. Crazy Rich Asians Anticipated 10/24 Event Idea: This charming rom-com is making history as the first major studio film in more than 25 years to feature a predominantly Asian cast. Spotlight this fact by hosting the event at your campus multicultural or Asian American cultural centers. Print out Rick s real mugshot and post them all over campus with the caption Do you know the story of White Boy Rick? Include the event s details, but keep everything else vague to build intrigue. While tabling, hand out free stamped postcards so students can reach out to long-distance friends reminding them how much they care! 8 Ideas EVENT Halloween Carve out a spooktacular movie schedule this Halloween season by showing a selection of top new releases and scary movie classics that will fright and delight your entire student population. Before each showing, include a fun, themed activity like pumpkin carving, fortune telling or horror movie trivia to create a wickedly good time for your campus. In October we did a Monster Movie Madness Month promotion. The entire month was horror, thriller and Halloween related movies. Contact us today! swank.com/college Holidays It s easy to create amazing events during the early winter months thanks to the magic of the holiday season making everything more special. Take advantage of this enchanting time by showing one, or more, of these themed films. For our final movie of the fall semester we chose a holiday theme. Students were encouraged to wear ugly Christmas sweaters, PJs, santa hats, etc., as we showed The Santa Clause. Student Productions (our campus event planning organization) provided hot chocolate, and Christmas cookies, along with the typical movie theater popcorn we provide at all our films. - University of Tampa Top titles for the Holidays! 10 Spotlight CAMPUS UNIVERSITY OF ILLINOIS SHARES THEIR SIMPLE STEPS FOR A SUCCESSFUL MOVIE SERIES The University of Illinois started out small with their movie series. Our movie program was kind of slowly building, shared Jenna Wicks, program advisor for the Illini Union Board. We started doing it one Friday a month, and then it became an every Friday night thing. And now, it has grown to [a movie event] every Friday and two showings on Saturday. So how did this Midwest school grow from one showing a month to three a week? By showing top titles, promoting events consistently, using reliable technology and adding perks students can t help but take advantage of. Movie selection is the first action item each semester. Typically choosing blockbuster hits and indie darlings that meet a variety of Working with Swank has been great because we ve planned out sixteen weeks of events. I don t have to worry. It s one of those events that students can manage themselves. Jenna Wicks Program Advisor for the Illini Union Board at the University of Illinois interests, the students plan out the entire semester s schedule upfront so they can promote the series before classes even begin. We have the posters ready before the semester starts, shared Kellen Dempsey, director of Illinites for the Illini Union Board. So when students get to campus, [they already see] the poster in the Illini Union that shows every movie being played that semester. If students know a movie they want to see is being played well in advance, then they can make sure their busy schedules accommodate the event. Beyond posters, social media and tabling are two other marketing tactics the program relies on. We ll just play music, give out candy and hand out flyers so people know what s happening with the Illini Union, said Kellen. And we have a panda suit that people dress up in on the Quad. People love to see a panda randomly running around handing out flyers.

11 When it comes to the technical details of the movie showings, Jonathan Bonaguro, multimedia lead technician for the Illini Union Board, loves the ease of Swank s Cinelink player. The main thing I like about Cinelink is that we don t [need] DVDs or laptops to run it, Jonathan shared. It runs completely independently... it just makes our life so much easier because we don t need to worry about having a computer or DVDs. Dallas Marks, director of films and weekend entertainment for the Illini Union Board, credits the reliability of Swank s service as a major stress reliever before a show. It s been a great experience working with Swank. I love how reliable [they are] because I know that I m not going to have a problem at 7:00 p.m. on a Friday when it s time to show the movie. And just what do the students think of this on-campus entertainment perk? Those that run the program have heard the popcorn, the movie choices and the fact that students get to see them before they are available on most streaming services are the three main reasons why their program is so popular. Working with Swank has been great because we ve planned out sixteen weeks of events, said Jenna. I don t have to worry. It s one of those events that students can manage themselves. I think our film program brings these students together and really gives them some great opportunities.
