Goals: Children discover film and develop an active, analytical appreciation of cinema 3 programs: School : children start discovering the magic of cinema (the screen, the theater, the emotions ) High School : Students learn how to differentiate among genres and cinematographic styles Students and apprentices in cinema: students learn to appreciate film and become informed viewers capable of recognizing a screen writer or director

3 The Project The Alliance Française Network in the US develops a National Education project in the form of a francophone film festival for young audiences. 1 st edition: March AF: Puerto Rico and New Orleans 2 nd edition: March AF: Puerto Rico, New Orleans and Minneapolis 3 rd edition: March AF in US network The festival has great potential for expansion nationwide via the AF network (+110 chapters)

4 Our goals To promote French language and francophone cultures To integrate film as a teaching tool To introduce young audiences to subtitled original versions of movies To introduce young audiences to independent cinema To teach young people to express a critical point of view and analyze a film For AF: - To strengthen organizational ties between AF and school communities - To develop partnerships with local theatre and film societies - To increase visibility for the network of AF nationwide

Alliances Françaises will take part 4 francophone movies (Kindergarten/elementary/secondary/high school) 4 phases: August - September: Identify participating Alliances Francaises and local schools. January - February: Participating Alliance Françaises will organize meetings with their partner schools in order to present the program and work with teachers on the in-class educational material provided to engage students and prepare them for the screenings. March - April Film screenings. April In-school workshops to analyze the films post screenings.

I enjoyed the films, but there were a few things I did not understand. It was perfect. I already want to see the next one! The film was really well made. I would like to learn more about French cinema. It was super, the story telling was different and very well worked out. Those from your country should feel proud. I really like the ideas in the film, but I think the film did not have a good ending. I would have changed it. Apart from that, the experience was great. I really like the film, but it was different from usual. It was interesting and caused much discussion. It is fun to see movies that show life as it is.
