3 MAIN ATTRACTIONS Main Attractions What main films will play at the County? This section lists the Main Attractions that we intend to play in the coming weeks. This list is only an educated guess, though, since film release plans often change. (Additional unlisted films will also become available.) Scheduling our Main Attractions is weekto-week. On Monday, we decide what main films will play starting that Friday. On Tuesday and Wednesday, we set the showtimes for the upcoming week and then update our website and telephone hotline. We also send out a weekly (which you can receive by signing up at our website). Sometimes, we book a main film a few weeks in advance, which we post on our website s Coming Attractions section. The two form an unlikely friendship when he allows her to park her van in his driveway, an arrangement that lasts for fifteen years. Carol USA - 1 hr 58 min - Todd Haynes Cate Blanchett and Rooney Mara star in this period melodrama set in 1950s New York. A young department store clerk seeking a better life falls in love with an older, married woman. With brilliant performances from Mara and Blanchett and absorbing, nuanced filmmaking from director Todd Haynes, this quietly powerful film won high praise at this year s Cannes Film Festival. 45 Years UK - 1 hr 35 min - Andrew Haigh Veteran actors Charlotte Rampling and Tom Courtenay star in this engaging domestic drama. Days before their 45th wedding anniversary, a couple receives a mysterious letter that could change their relationship forever. An expertly acted film that slowly comes to an emotional boil.

4 MAIN ATTRACTIONS Trumbo Hitchcock/Truffaut France/USA - 1 hr 20 min - Kent Jones Talented directors working today discuss the work and influence of master filmmakers Alfred Hitchcock and Francois Truffaut. In 1966, Truffaut published a book entitled Hitchcock/Truffaut, based on conversations between the two directors. That s a perfect jumping off point for this fascinating work about the art of the movies. Trumbo USA - 2 hr 4 min - Jay Roach The life and times of the biggest screenwriter in Hollywood, Dalton Trumbo, when he was blacklisted in the Fifties for his political beliefs. Bryan Cranston plays Trumbo in this passionate and revealing film. Also starring Diane Lane and Helen Mirren. Heart of a Dog USA - 1 hr 15 min - Laurie Anderson This immensely praised documentary follows musician and master storyteller Laurie Anderson as she reflects on life, death, and the passing of her beloved dog. 5 MAIN ATTRACTIONS Youth Limited Engagements We try to play each of our Main Attractions films for a full multi-week run. Sometimes, however, we are unable to play a film in a timely or complete way, and it becomes a question of either squeezing it in or not playing it at all. We then often schedule that film for a couple of mid-week screenings, called Limited Engagements. Make sure that you sign up for our weekly , so that you don t miss these short, last-chance screenings. Youth Italy - 1 hr 58 min - Paolo Sorrentino In English The latest from the celebrated Italian director Paolo Sorrentino, YOUTH is a masterful combination of stylish choreography, gorgeous cinematography, and powerful performances. An aging orchestra conductor, on holiday with his daughter and best friend, reflects back on a life in the arts. Starring Michael Caine and Harvey Keitel, with a talented supporting cast including Rachel Weisz and Paul Dano. Anomalisa USA - 1 hr 30 min Charlie Kaufman & Duke Johnson Writer/director Charlie Kaufman (Being John Malkovich, Adaptation) returns with a wonderful surprise: this stunning stop-motion animated film. It s about a celebrated writer in the midst of an existential crisis who seeks human connection during a night at a hotel. Equal parts tender and humorous, this animated film for adults is unlike anything you have ever seen, which is exactly what you d expect from Kaufman. Son of Saul Hungary - 1 hr 47 min - Laszlo Nemes - w/ subtitles A scorching drama about an Auschwitz prisoner in 1944 who is torn between trying to give a young boy a proper Jewish burial and joining an uprising. Winner of four awards including the Jury Prize at the 2015 Cannes Film Fest, SON OF SAUL is a visually stunning, masterful film that does not flinch from its horrifying subject. Leontes has everything a man could want, but jealousy causes him to break up his happy family. Co-directed by Rob Ashford and Branagh. Tickets: $18 General $16 Members Manet: Portraying Life 1 hr 31 min Manet s portraiture has rarely been highlighted in exhibition form, despite accounting for half of his artistic output. He painted his family, friends, and the literary, political, and artistic figures of the day, giving life not only to his subjects but to Parisian society. This exhibition from The Royal Academy of Arts in London includes more than 50 works.
