6 SPEAKERS SUNDAY DECEMBER pm: Distribution today - Public Relations and Marketing Strategies Moderator: Domenico La Porta, Cineuropa, BE During daytime, 36 years old Domenico La Porta is a film journalist based in Belgium working as an industry reporter and Chief Editor of the EU co-financed press platform CINEUROPA.ORG. With more than 40,000 daily visitors, CINEUROPA has been successfully promoting European film industry in the world since In the evening, Domenico is co-hosting the movie talk show CINE STATION on Belgium's national TV channel RTBF where he works as a film critic. At night, he's the founder and managing director of KWEB, a stealth company dealing with Transmedia storytelling, cross-platform movie promotion, crowd strategies, media and a/v production. This new experimenting ground fuels him with all the excitement needed to kickstart the next day. Charlie Lyne, Ultraculture, UK Charlie Lyne is the editor of cult movie blog Ultra Culture and a columnist for the Guardian. His first film, Beyond Clueless a journey into the mind, body and soul of the teen movie is currently in post-production. Mirjam van Ansem, Amstelfilm, The Netherlands Graduated as a Master of Arts, Film and Television Studies in Started her PR/Marketing career while studying at production company Motel Films (now Topkapi) helping out with the promotion of the big and (unexpectedly) huge successful Dutch film Alles Is Liefde. Afterwards she worked for Benelux Film Distributors (theatrical) and Lumière (DVD) while attending Acting School Amsterdam. Nowadays, for three years already, Mirjam is steadily working on her acting career as well as working part time for Amstelfilm on PR, subsidies and marketing for all the theatrical releases. At Amstelfilm lies a great opportunity to be creative within small marketing budgets. Films are released to enrich the offer of arthouse films in the Dutch cinemas. Amstelfilm also is a pioneer when it comes to cinema digitalisation and exploiting the potentials for public, theatres and film makers. 6

7 Daniel Melamed, New Cinema, Israel Daniel graduated in Film and Television from the Tel-Aviv University. He has been working in the film industry for 10 years now, as director of a cinema theater and in the distribution field. He also directed 3 documentaries, between 2006 and In 2009 he became distribution manager at New Cinema, buying films and implementing marketing campaigns. Among the last released movies of the company are: Gloria, Café de flore, Chinese take away, The women on the 6th floor. She started her career with Twentieth Century Fox and has been active as a freelance publicist and marketing consultant both on local markets and on international festivals since She has worked on international festivals on various types of films, from Moulin Rouge to films by the Dardenne brothers, Steve Buscemi, Tony Gatlif or Jane Birkin, as well as small Iranian, Brazilian, Spanish or Belgian productions. She is now in charge of Press and PR for the Belgian distributor O Brother, and is also working for her own company, The PR Factory. Richard Mowe, Cinefile, UK In his role as a journalist, Richard Mowe has contributed to newspapers, radio and television, mainly on cultural affairs and the entertainment and film worlds, including BBC radio, Scottish Television, The Independent, The Herald, The Scotsman, the Irish Examiner, Daily Express, Daily Mail, as well as many magazines including Hollywood Reporter, Box Office USA and Screen International. He worked for ten years as arts editor and member of the founding team who established Scotland on Sunday newspaper. He is a co-founder and director of the Italian Film Festival UK, the French Film Festival UK, and has been associated with film events in Paris and Italy and has served on many juries. He is a director of CinéFile, an established company devoted to the distribution across platforms of World cinema in the UK and Ireland. He is an accredited member of the National Union of Journalists (NUJ), the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (Bafta), the Guild of Regional Film Writers, the Critics Circle, and Fipresci. He has been awarded the honour of Officier de l'ordre des Arts et des Lettres by the French Government. 7
