2 8 March 2012 MTN SAMA 18 MEDIA ADVISORY THE 18 TH ANNUAL MTN SA MUSIC AWARDS 29/30 APRIL 2012 The world of South African music is abuzz with excitement and anticipation. Everyone is gearing up for the biggest, best and most glamorous awards ceremony in the music industry s calendar the Annual MTN South African Music Awards. And we d like to make sure that our media is 100% on board and well taken care of. We know you ll have plenty of questions about who, what, where, when, why and how so to make your work easier, we wanted to give you some essential information well in advance. 3 Online Press Office The SAMA 18 website will contain all official press releases and announcements made by MTN SAMA as they happen. The nominee list will be uploaded immediately after the nominee announcement has taken place. Likewise, the SAMA 18 winners will be uploaded immediately after the SAMA 18 Non-Broadcast Awards on Sunday 29 April and the SAMA 18 Live Broadcast Awards Ceremony on Monday 30 April. The website address for this is: Official Photographs We know that you can t all scramble around with a photographer in tow. To ensure you have the pictures you require, you will have access to a flikr account, where images of the SAMA nominee announcement and celebration, and the SAMA 18 Awards will be uploaded timeously for you to download and use. You can find the flickr file at: Media Accreditation at MTN SAMA 18 in Sun City 29 & 30 April 2012 A media accreditation application form is availabile on the SA Music Awards website ( for members of the media to apply for accreditation. Please keep in mind that media accreditation for the awards at Sun City is limited, but we ll do our best to get as many of you there as possible. One accreditation form is to be filled out per media representative. Once your accreditation has been approved you will be notified in writing through a confirmation letter on Tuesday, 16 April Your accreditation can then be collected from the SAMA 18 Media Offices at Sun City on your arrival. Please print out and bring your confirmation letter with you.

4 SAMA 18 Itinerary This year there are a number of exciting events and activities that form part of the overall MTN SAMA Weekend. A full itinerary will accompany the official letter of accreditation sent out on the 16 th of April. It will also be uploaded to the SAMA 18 Website for download. Sun City Hotel Accommodation: All media accommodation for the SAMA 18 Awards is for your own account. For hotel accommodation bookings, please contact Sun City Reservations: Christy Murray : Sun International Reservations Group Code : SAMA Contact number : grpresv@za.suninternmational.com This is Group Reservations and they will be more than happy to assist you with all your needs for accommodation for the MTN SAMA AWARDS. Please note that there are also a number of lodges and hotels in close proximity to Sun City. Media transport to and from Sun City: Monday 30 April a bus will leave from the MTN head office in 14 th Avenue at 09h00 and return to Johannesburg at 2h00 on Tuesday 1 May. The MTN parking area is safe and secure. You will be able to leave your cars there. You will be required to confirm your transport requirements on your accreditation form. Meals at Sun City: A light dinner prior to the Broadcast Awards evening on 30 April will be provided to accredited media with the compliments of MTN SAMA 18 and Sun City. All other meals and refreshments will need to be covered by you.

5 Media working room: A media working room will be available. It will be equipped with Internet access, a limited number of computers, lockers and radio booths. The location is the Kudu and Eland Rooms situated close to the food court on the upper level of the Superbowl. Look out for the directional signage. The media working rooms will be open as follows: Sunday 29 April 9am 5pm Monday 30 April 9am 11pm Tuesday 1 May 9am 12noon The awards evenings: All accredited media attending the 18 th Annual MTN SA Music Awards Live Broadcast Awards night on the 30 th of April will be seated inside the Superbowl upstairs in the gallery area. We have arranged for a designated section for media so that you can experience the joy and drama first hand. Photographers Platform: A separate platform will be available for photographer on the lower level of the Superbowl. Photographers to request access to this area via the accreditation application. Photographers should bring a tripod and zoom lens for this area. TV / Online Media: No filming of any kind is allowed during the SAMA 18 Live Broadcast in the Superbowl as this is strictly limited to SABC 1 - the broadcast partner for SAMA18. The Official Heineken VIP After Party Access: As always in the past, availability of tickets for the after party is extremely limited. Tickets for the Heineken Afterparty will be allocated to media, but not all media accredited to attend the awards will be given accreditation for the VIP after party. We would love to be able to accommodate you all but space constraints will limit our numbers.

6 Radio Outside Broadcasts: Any radio stations wanting to broadcast live from Sun City during the MTN SAMA 18 Weekend should please contact us in advance. Once your application has been approved, we will allocate you a designated space. Please book your own Telkom or ADSL lines from Telkom. We will need to know whether you require this, in advance. Please note that all non SABC TV programmes or channels will need to credit SABC 1 for the footage used.
