2 Chamber About the Arts House and its Patrons Occupying the almost 200-year-old building that was Singapore s first Parliament House, The Arts House has played an active role in the Singapore arts and creative scene. The House promotes and presents multidisciplinary programmes and festivals such as literary arts, film, performing and visual arts. Patrons of The Arts House form a crucial pillar of support for the institution and its programmes. Their generosity and enthusiasm strengthen the impact of our work in the community and ensure there is always a space where the arts can flourish. We would like to thank them for their support. 3 Writer's Spotlight Mohamed Latiff Mohamed A prolific poet and writer in Singapore s Malay literary scene and a teacher by training, Mohamed Latiff Mohamed is best known for his works on the struggles of the Malay community in postindependence Singapore. In a poetic response to Two People, a photography showcase by Sean Lee, this evening features recitations of poetry written by Chua Chee Lay and live music by Jean Reiki in a melodic exploration of time, family and mortality.

Directed by Samantha Scott-Blackhall, and performed by Janice Koh and Daniel Jenkins, this condensed but precise stage reading promises to be a treat. This colourful evening presents Malay poetry from the Nusantara region, in a theatrical performance that will enchant your heart and mind. Join Singaporean poets and musicians as they perform captivating poetry recitations and performances, including works that have stood the test of time. From Tiada Peduli and Ini Nasi Yang Kusuap by pioneering Malay poet Masuri S. N., to Melayuku, Melayumu and Tekad by three-time Singapore Literature Prize winner Mohamed Latiff Mohamed, the evening will open your eyes to the richness and traditions of modern Malay poetry. As part of Watch out for literary talents from the local scene, as the evening will include appearances by writers Khair Yasin, Farihan Bahron and Sofia Nin.

9 Hiring our Spaces Screening Room The Arts House is the oldest public building still standing in Singapore. Combining rich historical values with charming spaces, the House is the ideal venue for your events. Chamber Formerly the Parliamentary Chamber where Members of Singapore Parliament gathered, it is now popularly used for recitals, performances and conferences. Gallery I Screening Room This 75-seater film theatrette, used to house several offices during the Legislative Assembly and Parliamentary years in the late 20th century. Gallery I The exposed brick entrance into Gallery I reveals the oldest feature of the Old Parliament House. This unique space is best used for exhibitions and cocktails. Play Den The Play Den, now a Black Box theatre, served as the General Office for Singapore's first Chief Minister, Mr David Marshall. Play Den
