2 About the Arts House This month, we invite you to our House Party in celebration of our 13th year. Highlighting literary arts through various artistic genres, we celebrate our artists and explore farther horizons. Two other treats this month include Cita Seni that looks at the work of visual artist Tumadi Patri, followed by The Arts House presents Marina Budhos, that discusses the pertinent subject of understanding each other in a divided world. The Arts House is run and managed by Arts House Limited (AHL). AHL also presents the Singapore International Festival of Arts, and manages Goodman Arts Centre and Aliwal Arts Centre. This year, we highlight the various literary expressions across artistic genres through an eclectic range of events by Singapore artists. 6 Cita Seni: Jalan Seni Passage of Art of Tumadi Patri Exhibition 4 12 Mar 10am 8pm Gallery II Free admission Titled Jalan Seni, this exhibition showcases the style and touch of Singapore artist Tumadi Patri, who is known for his batik paintings with Javanese motifs that identify with his cultural heritage. Tumadi Patri Mohd Raman Daud Cita Seni is co-presented by The Arts House and the NUS Department of Malay Studies. Forum 4 Mar 2pm 4.30pm Blue Room Free with registration at citaseni-jalanseni.peatix.com Former senior journalist and respected writer and literary commentator, Mohd Raman Daud, leads this session to discuss the varieties and nuances in Tumadi s works, placing his works within the Singapore art scene context and the evolving artistic styles of Malay society. This forum will be conducted in English and moderated by Dr Azhar Ibrahim. The Arts House presents Marina Budhos Fiction and the Migrants in Us Lecture 9 Mar 7.30pm 8.30pm Blue Room $5 tahpresentsmarinabudhos.peatix.com What is it like to grow up amid toxic discussions of us versus them? How can anyone, especially a young adult, feel like they truly belong to a society when they are considered to be alien? Author Marina Budhos speaks about why fiction remains an especially powerful tool to confront and break these silos. Through her novels Watched, Tell Us We re Home, and Ask Me No Questions, she will talk about how we can discuss differences so that we can understand each other, and why these narratives must be told. This session is moderated by Miral Fahmy and co-presented with the Singapore Writers Festival as part of the Words Go Round programme.

Chamber The Chamber is the most historically significant space in the House and is the heart of The Arts House. Formerly the Parliamentary Chamber where Members of the Singapore Parliament gathered, it is now widely used for recitals, performances, conferences, fashion shows and weddings.
