1 COLONNADE NEWSLETTER MAY 2010 To Hold Auditions for Camelot C A T O O S A C I R C L E Colonnade Newsletter Camelot was a place of love, chivalry, hope, goodness, and is coming to The Colonnade! After their wildly successful productions of The Wizard of Oz, White Christmas, My Fair Lady, and many more, Closed Door Entertainment is pleased to be bringing you this timeless classic! As the community of Camelot awaits the arrival of their new Queen and future bride to Arthur, Guinevere sneaks away in hopes of avoiding this marriage she wants no part of at such a young age. Unknowingly, she meets Arthur, and our story ensues! With JC Smith and Lora Ogden directing, joined by Paul Stone as Musical Director, sets by John Fava and Associated Builders, Costumes by Closed Door's army of seamstresses, and choreography by Tracie Kosko, your eyes and ears are sure to be pleased! For this production, is seeking a total of 16 actors and actresses. All actors must sing, and almost all must dance. Please have up to 30 seconds of any song prepared, and you will be given your audition piece at the time of your audition. Auditions will be held May 3rd and 4th between 6 and 8 pm, with our first cast meeting on May 10th at 6 pm, all at The Colonnade. We are also looking for several strings players to join our small orchestra, so let us know if you play and would like to be a part of the show! Performances will be July 23rd, 24th, 30th, and 31st all at 7:30 pm with a matinee on the 31st at 1 pm. Come join King Arthur, Guinevere, Lancelot, Merlin, and the Knights of the Round Table as we follow a story of true love, honor, and hope for a better world in Camelot! Community Players to Hold Auditions Community Players Director Kim Parrish will be holding auditions for their upcoming production of Wedding Belles, produced in association with Samuel French. Auditions will be held May 3 & 4, 2010 from 6 pm to 8 pm at The Colonnade. Those wishing to audition should come prepared to do a cold read and follow simple stage direction. Wedding Belles was written by Alan Bailey and Ronnie Claire Edwards and is a delightfully funny, heartwarming story of a young girl who sets out to marry an infantryman before he ships off for WW II. When Ima Jean Tatum rushes into the little Texas town to wed her soldier, she meets four garden-club ladies who impulsively decide to throw the girl an elaborate wedding. The catch? They have just one day to accomplish the nuptials. What ensues is a fun and frantic frenzy as the ladies offer advice, plan a wedding, and throw their friendships and lives into turmoil. This is the tale of Hank Morgan, a resident of Hartford Connecticut who awakens to find himself transported back into the time of the legendary King Arthur. Hank is somewhat curious to the residents of Arthur s Camelot. He is seen to be a man of some importance and mystery because of his familiarity with armor and firearms. He uses his more modern knowledge of how things work to his advantage in outwitting sorcerers and using his own brand of magic good old fashioned (or is it newfangled?) know how to amaze all those in King Arthur s court. Join Silverdale Baptist Academy to find out how the adventures of Hank Morgan turn out. Does he make it home to Connecticut? Does he become a knight of the legendary roundtable? 4 Bob Lawson: Mind Games Mental Mystery Tour Bob Lawson s Mind Games is one of the highest rated shows of it s kind in America. Bob Lawson is the two time winner of the New York Cabaret Society Award for Best Variety Act of The Year. What is Mind Games all about? Mind Games is an audience participation mind reading show. Bob states that there is nothing supernatural about his show and that everything he does is within the given powers of any individual. During one of Bob s shows, you will see things that you may feel are impossible or at the very least unusual. Bob will use many members of the audience to achieve some amazing results. Although this is an audience participation show, no one will be asked to participate who would rather just watch. I know that many people would prefer not to be on stage and hate being the center of attention said Bob I always respect the fact that a member of the audience is willing to help me. You will be totally amazed when you see this show. When you re not thinking, how did he do that, you will be laughing hysterically from something that was said or done on stage. Bob feels there are truly 6 senses, but he feels the sixth sense is The Sense of Humor. Bob only asks one thing of his audience. He would like everyone to leave their logic at the door and open their minds to a world beyond your imagination, a world where anything is possible. When we asked Bob, Exactly what will we see in the show? His answer seemed a little vague. It s hard for me to tell you exactly what will happen as I use people from the audience and you never know what will be said or happen. I do have a plan and I hope that it will end up the way I would like it to, but often times somewhere between A and Z there are things that happen that surprise even me. Mind Games has been presented at major theaters and clubs across the United States and Canada and is a regular aboard Royal Caribbean, Celebrity, Princess and Holland American Cruises.
