3 CENTRAL COAST CONSERVATORIUM Presents Welcome to the Central Coast Conservatorium s 2016 concert season. I am delighted the Conservatorium will present another wonderfully varied program of genres in our professional concert series. Again in 2016 our concert season is divided in two, with this calendar No. 1 detailing the events of the first half of the year and No. 2 highlighting the program for the second half of the year. Last year the addition of evening concerts on Friday and Saturday nights was extremely successful and brought some fresh faces to our concerts which was an excellent outcome of this new programming. The 2016 concert season will also see the inclusion of Friday and Saturday evening events in this year s presentation of concerts. It is my hope that through the ongoing delivery of these cultural evening events we can help to further support the concept of a great night out on the Central Coast for our community. The Conservatorium s concert program for 2016 is vast and varied and certainly offers our audience enjoyment and insight across many styles, genres and ensemble combinations. Again, this season we feature international, national and local artists and importantly our student population, the artists of the future. The inclusion of Central Coast Opera s production of the Magic Flute at Laycock Street Theatre in early April will most certainly be a highlight for This production will set a cultural milestone for the Coast and with strong community support, will certainly bolster the notion of a culturally engaged, diverse and enriched community. It gives me great pleasure to invite you, your family and friends to the Conservatorium and its associated venues throughout the year to partake in these wonderful performances. Again, I encourage you to challenge your musical palate by watching concerts outside of your comfort zone. Variety is the spice of life, and music truly is an aural feast. 8 Central Coast Opera returns for three performances of one of the best loved works ever composed The Magic Flute. The genius of Mozart was at its height in 1791 when this fantastical work first hit the boards and it s been delighting audiences ever since. The Magic Flute will be sung in English and tells the story of love found, nerves tested, and the saving of society from darkness and superstition. It features the fiendish Queen of the Night, a wise old man, a handsome Prince and his reluctantly heroic sidekick. With a full orchestra, conducted by Patrick Brennan, and a sensational cast of local singers and dancers, The Magic Flute will be a spectacular addition to Central Coast Opera s repertoire.
