7 Academia( Filarmónica( de( Medellín( AFMED is a symphonic and chamber music educational program, which aims to form highly qualified professional musicians. The program is designedtointegrateyoungstudents,someofthemcomingfromdisadvantagedfamiliesofthedistrict, intoacommunityoftalentedanddisciplinedmusicians,engagedinalifeofartisticandcivicfulfilment. It offers meticulous and continued music education with international projection. The Academia was founded in 2008 by the Medellin Philharmonic Orchestra, with the fundamental contribution of the ColombianConductorAlejandroPosada.MaestroPosadaisitsArtisticDirector,withthecollaborationof theassociateconductorspablomielgoandrobertogonzálezmonjas.(filarmed.com) The(National(System(of(Youth(and(Children(Orchestras(and(Choirs(of(Venezuelaisboth asocialandculturalprogramfromthevenezuelanstate,foundedin1975bythevenezuelanmusician MaestroJoséAntonioAbreu.Currently,ithas385orchestralcentersthroughoutthenationalterritory, where500,000childrenandadolescentsaretaughtbyanacademicstaffof6,400teachers.elsistema comprises828youth,childrenandpretschoolchildrenorchestras;364youthandchildrenchoirs;27 Academic Centers for Instrument Making and Repair; 8 Centers with Correctional Facility Orchestral Programs and 16 orchestral centers with Special Education Programs. Among its many different musical areas, El Sistema fosters performance of Venezuelan traditional music and leads several HospitalPrograms,wherecareisgiventochildrenandyouthwhosufferchronicdiseases.ElSistemahas beenawardedwiththeprinceofasturiasawardfortheartsandunesco sinternationalmusicprize.it hasinspiredover65countriesineurope, America,AsiaandAfrica,wheretheVenezuelanmodelhas already been replicated, showing it is a real and sustainable alternative for education, peace and progressinfavorofthechildrenoftodayandthefuture.(fundamusical.org.ve) Superarisacharityfoundedin2009byCaritasVienna,theViennaKonzerthausandtheViennaBoys Choir.Itcoachesdisadvantagedchildrenandyoungadultsintheareasofsinging,dancingandorchestra music, furthers individual competencies and aims to offer an access to culture and a contribution towards social inclusion. The basic principles are: every interested child can take part and will be coachedatahighlevelofmusiceducation.weliveabalanceofhavingfunaswellastakingproductive responsibility towards fellow singers and players. Through modules for advanced students interested childrencanreceivethepossibilitytodeveloptheirtalentallthewaytoexcellence.visibilityisanother important methodological principle, regular public performances strengthen the selftconfidence and enthusiasm. Superar is located in Austria, Bosnia, Liechtenstein, Romania, Slovakia and Switzerland. Its fellowship program providestopgraduatesofmusicprogramsintheunitedstatestheopportunitytoenhancetheirmusic educationwiththefinestprofessionaltraining.afteranintensivethreetyearprogramofperformance andtraining,nwsfellowsemergefromtheexperiencepreparedforprofessionalpositionsinorchestras andensemblesaroundtheworld.inthe27yearssinceitsfounding,morethan900alumnihavegoneon tomakeadifferenceincommunitiesandorganizationsworldwide. The( Mangaung( String( ProgramisadevelopmentprograminitiatedbytheFreeStateMusiconin July 1998 under the directorship of Peter Guy and then joined by the University of the Free State in 2002.TuitiontakesplaceingroupformatsatanumberofprimaryschoolsinMangaunginthemornings and then continues with more specialized tuition at the Free State Musicon in the afternoons. OrchestraspracticeonSaturdaymorningsattheMusicon.Tuitionisprovidedbystaffmembersofeach institution in addition to music students and interns from within the programme, as well as hourly tuitionbasedonsponsorship.eachpupilpaysamodestfeeandthiscoverstuition,instruments,repairs, teachingmaterialsandtransport.theprogrammeoperatesabusservice,whichruns6daysaweek. 9 Sinfonía( por( el( Perúis a social project founded in 2011 by Juan Diego Florez and inspired by El Sistema Venezuela. It currently caters more than poor and vulnerable children in 13 musical centersnationwide.inthesecenterschildrenplayandsinginorchestrasandchoirs,improvingdayby daythankstoamusicalmethodologywhichworksmarvels,impartedbytrainedinstructors,carriersofa philosophy based on engagement and social inclusion. These musical ensembles represent mini societies, where children interact and develop a high selftesteem, and a set of values, habits and attitudesthattransformthemandmakethembelievethatnothingcanstoptheirdreams.byplaying music these poor children become rich, feel valued and appreciated; they don t feel poor anymore. Thanks to music, they can face the world in a different way. Through a sixtweek summer residence in Verbier, musicians learn from a group of exceptionally experienced coaches from New York s Metropolitan Opera Orchestra and perform important symphonic repertoire with Music Director Charles Dutoit and other prestigious conductors and distinguished soloists. Orchestra musicians discover new skills which they adopt and develop as theyembarkontheirprofessionalcareersandmanyofthemhave,asaresultoftheiruniqueexperience in Verbier, won positions with the world s leading symphony orchestras such as the Berliner Philharmoniker, Royal Concertgebouw, Wiener Philharmoniker, Metropolitan Opera Orchestra, etc. (verbierfestival.com) The( Sistema(Orchestre(e(Cori(Giovanili(e(Infantili(in(Italia strivesforsocialchangethrough the shared experience of collective musictmaking; it is now operational with over 50 Nucleos in 15 regions, involving more than youngsters. The project, introduced in Italy by Maestro Claudio Abbado,wasinitiatedattheendof2010inpartnershipbetween Federculture andscuolamusicaledi Fiesole. The national network of which Maestro J.A. Abreu is honorary president operates on a regional level under the coordination from a National Committee, on the basis an official agreement with El Sistema in Venezuela. While Italy benefits from a rich and established musical tradition, the Italianschoolsystemdoesnotsufficientlyintegratemusicintooveralleducation. SistemaItalia aims to provide free and additional access to music both within and alongside the school hours, with particularcaretowardsdisadvantagedfamilies,inclusionofimmigrants,andintegrationofchildrenwith specialneeds.giventhevarietyandabundanceofalreadyexistinginitiatives,thediverse Nucleos may act in schools, music schools or social centres. All, while adapting to specific environments and circumstances,arerequiredtoprovidefreetuitionunderacommonprogramwithsharedguidelines.!!!
