MONTAGE Firmware Version 2.0 For MONTAGE this year's Winter NAMM comes under the sign of the 2: After two years of MONTAGE, the Firmware with a 2 before the dot is available. And indeed, there are two main features in the the update that fit together perfectly and are worth the 2 before the dot. The newly added features also show that Yamaha is open to suggestions from the MONTAGE community. But now I don't want to put you on the rack any longer, let's get down to business. Legacy With MONTAGE, Yamaha has ushered in a new era and has clearly shifted its focus towards synthesizers. This is also reflected in the Preset content. In particular, musicians who came from the MOTIF or MOXF series have in some cases missed the typical "Player Performances" from the Presets of these instruments. The update to Firmware Version 2.0 now enables the import of Performances from the Yamaha MOTIF XS, MOTIF XF, and MOXF! YAMAHA.COM 3

It works quite simply. A corresponding ALL file (. X0A,. X3A,. X6A) on a connected USB storage device can be found under [UTILITY] > Content in the file selection. Before importing, two decisions have to be made: the choice of the content - Voices or Performances - and the storage area - User or Library memory. Select the desired target parameters in the MONTAGE display (Common or Part) Press [CONTROL ASSIGN] Move Super Knob Adjust Controller parameters (Curve Type, Polarity,...) Here too, we recommend that you first import into a Library. Doing so has two main advantages: On the one hand, the User memory remains untouched and, on the other hand, you can use the Library import to select the sounds you want to keep. Of course, this could also be integrated immediately into an existing User File. But due to the different memory structures of the instruments MOTIF series and MONTAGE, it is worthwhile to make a few detailed considerations before importing existing Files. However, that would go too far in the context of this workshop. Which is why we decided to write a separate workshop for the next Music Production Guide. Super Knob EASY! The introductory keyword for this section is actually quite simple, because it's not just about the Super Knob. With the latest updates, Yamaha has already simplified the I have released a first video concerning the Firmware Update. In the intro there is a short sequence in which I do the Super Knob assignment "on the fly". The scene is not cut or artificially accelerated, but recorded in real time. New shortcuts have also been added within the path between a Controller Source and Destination, which speeds up the workflow enormously. For example, you can assign a Part parameter directly from the "Edit - Common/ Audio" area to an unlinked Assignable Knob. Up to Version 2.0 you had to go into the area "Edit - Part...". This is often sufficient for simple assignments. Only if you want to go deeper and adjust the parameters of the Curves, for example, you have to switch to the detail page of the Part Controller assignments. workflow in Controller Routing step by step. New Quick- Links are available as additional buttons in many displays and facilitate the assignment of parameters to Controllers. Once again, the update to MONTAGE OS v2.0 has been significantly optimised in this area. For example, a Super Knob assignment only requires the following steps: YAMAHA.COM 4

The Envelope Follower also received new shortcuts. This allows you to jump directly from the parameter page of the Envelope Followers to the Controller assignment of a Part or the Common area of the Performance. moved within the AWM2 Parts, the system took over the last page you called from Part to Part. In this way, it was really possible to set the parameters for all Parts in a matter of seconds. However, if there was an FM-X Part inbetween, it showed its "General" page at first and you had to change to "Pitch" again. Without ever mentioning this, I had liked to see an improvement in this situation for some time. Especially in my workshops with new participants it was sometimes difficult to explain why you suddenly ended up on a completely different parameter page - which was also displayed in a different colour. So, in daily practice this is a small but very helpful improvement. New Performances The update to Version 2.0 has 99 new Performances on board. In addition, the Live Set Pages in the Preset have been adjusted. The new Performances can be found in the updated Data List, where they are marked with a "*1" as usual. dichotomy Why do these two new features and improvements fit so well together? The answer is obvious. None of the Voices or Performances from the newly importable content has an MONTAGE-style Controller assignment! This means that you can complete an imported Performance with just a few simple steps. Be it the Part Volume for the balance between two Parts or the Filter EG on a synthesizer Arpeggio Part. We will also describe this in more detail in The new Performances come from almost all Categories. New variations have been added to the pianos, for example, which require fewer Parts. All in all, there are quite a few Performances as version "2" programmed under the generic term "less is more", but in my opinion with unlimited quality. A part of the new Performances underlines once again the term "Music Synthesizer". There are some schoolmasterly examples where a look "under the hood" is definitely worthwhile. For all those who have a certain interest in learning, I can only repeatedly recommend the analysis of the Performances you like best. There are no secrets! a separate workshop in one of the next issues. consistency It is now clear to every halfway experienced MONTAGE user how easy it is to create a new Split Performance from a few Single-Part Performances, for example. Often the parameter "Note Shift" has to be adjusted for all Parts. As long as you only YAMAHA.COM 5

User Audition Phrases With the current Firmware, it is now possible to store Audition Demos for your own Performance creations. These can be recorded in Direct Performance Recording, for example. Alternatively, a Song, which was created by importing a MIDI File, can be transferred to a Performance as an Audition Demo. reading help The possibility to set a larger font size has so far only affected the Live Set. The magnification now works for the Category Search as well. miscellaneous The detailed approach to handling Audition Demos will also be the topic of one of the next issues. start condition With the update it is now possible to use... [UTILITY] > Settings > System to define a Live Set Slot that is loaded when the At two prominent points in the operating system, it was made possible to define certain settings globally. One concerns the Tempo. This can now be set to a system-wide, fixed value that temporarily overwrites the programmed value of the individual Performances. This allows you to work with different Performances in succession without changes in the tempo or without having to adjust the value in each of the Performances you use. instrument is turned on. Especially live keyboarders will appreciate this feature. In this way, you can directly define a frequently used or even the first required Performance for your shows. A short hint: The System settings are saved either with the User File or the Backup File. In addition, the settings for the A/D Input can also be set globally. This is very helpful if, for example, an instrument or a microphone is connected to it. The relevant parameters - including the two Insert Effects! - for the A/D Input are normally stored with each individual Performance. YAMAHA.COM 6

So if you wanted to use a microphone with the same settings throughout, this had to be stored separately in each Performance you want to use. The "Global A/D" function keeps the current configuration - independent of the selected Performance. > Utility > Tempo Settings via the shortcut "Click Settings". Hit [EXIT] to return quickly. For example, if you're used to the two-bar pre-count from years of work with Cubase, you'll like this quick connection. Those who feel fairly "at home" in Controller Routing will appreciate the "Auto Select" function, with which a physical Controller can be selected immediately as the Source for a Routing. This "Auto Select" has now been implemented in the Performance > Motion Control > Overview page. If you move one of the Controllers, for example the Modulation Wheel, an existing Routing is highlighted for a moment. All other Routings are displayed briefly with very low opacity and appear again after a few seconds. This really helps for a quick overview without having to set certain filters on the page. Download The update and detailed installation instructions are available on the MONTAGE download page. Our urgent recommendation is also obligatory: Please make a backup of your data BEFORE installation. [UTILITY] > Contents > Store/Save > [Save As New File] outlook As already mentioned, we will come back to certain features in the following issues to go into more detail. For now I would like to close this overview. Have fun on your first "exploration tour". Hans-Peter Henkel All passionate "Direct Performance Recorders" will be pleased that the maximum number of Songs to be recorded has been increased from 64 to 128. There is also a little improvement in Song Recording. You can now jump directly from the Record screen to the page YAMAHA.COM 7

MONTAGE FM-X Smart Edit Part 2 In the last issue I already described the FM-X Smart Edit concept in detail and explained it with some examples. The MONTAGE Sound Library "FM-Xperience" by EASY SOUNDS, also presented in the last issue, is the first product in which Smart Edit can be used for all Performances. "Smart Edit" means an intuitive sound design based on pre-programmed FM-X Performances using the Assignable Knobs and Sliders. With a few movements of these Controllers, the Performances can be changed and subsequently saved as new Performances. As usual, the Controllers can also used for real-time control. In this second part you will find further examples, which can also be seen in the YouTube video "MONTAGE FM-X Smart Edit". Furthermore, the example Performances can be downloaded free of charge as an MONTAGE File (see links at the end of this article).. YAMAHA.COM 9

Example Performance = Fat Analog Stereo Apparently, there is a strong interest for MONTAGE users in using the FM-X synthesis to create "analog" sounds. Even though this is not the goal of FM-X, the new FM-X features "Spectral Forms" and "Skirt" make it possible to program impressive analog sounds. The Spectral Forms can be used to select other Waveforms for the Operators in addition to sine Waveforms. With Skirt it is possible to expand the frequency spectrum, which has a similar effect as the classic "Feedback", which can only be set for one Operator. However, Skirt is available for each of the Operators. The Performance "Fat Analog Stereo" offers a wide sawtooth analog sound, using two slightly detuned Parts which are balanced for a stereo effect. Both Parts - apart from Pan and Part Detune - are identical and can be controlled together by the Common Assignable Knobs. Since the FM-X parameters alone have already produced an excellent analog base sound, the first five Assignable Knobs are used exclusively for the Filter in this Performance. Knobs 6-8 control AEG Release and the Effect Sends. It is astonishing how much diversity of sound can be created by different settings of the eight Assignable Knobs. Try the following Knob settings - starting from the settings of the "Fat Analog Stereo" Performance shown above. The Performances "Fat Analog Decay" and "Fat Analog Attack" are variations of "Fat Analog Stereo", created by precisely these settings. The two FM-X Parts each consist of two Operators Stacks with four Operators each, using either the Spectral Form "Sine" or "All1" (= sawtooth). Special settings for Detune and Level Scaling create a very well-balanced, modulated analog sound that emulates both a sawtooth sound (Stack 1, Operators 1-4) and a PWM sound (pulse width modulation). When using only one Operator, a Sawtooth sound created with the Spectral Form "All1" shows some weaknesses in the lower keyboard area. These can be compensated by using several Operators with different Level Scalings. Starting with the Performance "Fat Analog Stereo", the video above demonstrates the transitions to the Performances "Fat Analog Decay" and "Fat Analog Attack". YAMAHA.COM 10

Example Performance = Fat Analog Pad Operators 3 to 8 are used here in a classic DX e-piano Algorithm. Only the settings of Knobs 3 (Body Freq), 5 (Bell Env), 6 (Feedback), 7 (Reverb), and 8 (Chorus) have to be changed to create this bell-shaped FM sound: Fat Analog Pad is another variation of Fat Analog Stereo. This Performance, conceived as an atmospheric pad sound, can be continuously transformed into a filter sweep with the Knobs. Example Performance = Baroque Stereo MW Example Performance = Noble E-Piano Stereo This stereo Performance is ideal for a custom remix of the Operators. The first four Operators form a Stack, the Modulators of which can be modified with Knobs 1,2, and 3. Then follow Operator 5 (Knob 4) with the Spectral Form "Reso" and Operator 6 (Knob 5) as a Sub Oscillator (sine) tuned one The Assignable Knobs can be used to transform this elegant, highly variable stereo e-piano into a spacey bell sound in no time at all. octave lower. Operators 7 and 8 with the Spectral Form "All1" are used for a sawtooth pad that can be adjusted with Knobs 6-8. YAMAHA.COM 11

First set Knobs 1 to 7 to "0" and then start your own individual Operator mix by increasing the Knob levels Example Performance = Dark Journey MSEQ according to your own taste. As a result, for example, this slightly more dominant version of the original could be the result: Example Performance = Dynamic Stereo Keys With this Performance, spectacular modulations can be generated in real time. A musical use as an atmospheric pad with subtle movements is also possible. The motionrich sound is provided by the Motion Sequences used in the Performance, which can be put into effect with the Scenes 1-8. An interplay of the Assignable Knobs 1 (Modulator) and This stereo FM e-piano takes full advantage of the FM-X features with two times of eight Operators. Due to the Spectral Form "All1" used by some Operators, it allows the addition of a polysynth by using the Assignable Knobs. 2 (OP Freq) alone is sufficient for drastic sound changes. If after an intro with drastic modulations a quieter pad accompaniment is desired, the first three Knobs should be set to "64" after selecting Scene 6. The use of the phaser with Knob 6 is a perfect match. The result is the Performance "Dark Journey Pad". With just a few Knob movements, the e-piano "Dynamic Stereo Keys" turns into a combined e-piano / polysynth sound: Videos for FM-X Smart Edit Video: MONTAGE FM-X Smart Edit This video introduces the Performances discussed here: YAMAHA.COM 12

John Melas Software MONTAGE Performance Editor for mac OS and Windows With its large touchscreen and additional encoders, MONTAGE is one of the best sample-based synthesizers ever made. There is hardly a hardware FM synthesizer that is fit to hold a candle to it. However, the sheer number of parameters of this instrument is extremely large. So, a wide computer screen and a comprehensive Editor software can be quite useful. Such an Editor software is now available from John Melas - a name that some MOTIF users might be familiar with from his corresponding products for the previous generation of Yamaha synthesizers. Athens-based Melas has created a complete control environment for MONTAGE with its stand-alone Performance Editor. With a purchase price of 70 Euro the software is worth the money in the truest sense of the word. It is well maintained and currently comprises the following Editors: Performance Editor AWM2 Editor FM-X Editor Drum Kit Editor Installation In order to connect your MONTAGE to your computer, you should have installed the latest driver for your computer platform in addition to the current MONTAGE Firmware. You can find both in the download area of the Yamaha website. YAMAHA.COM 15

Connect your MONTAGE via USB to your computer and then start the Performance Editor. Select the entry "Auto- Connect" in the Setup menu. This should be sufficient for a stable connection of synthesizer and software. You should also see the currently selected MONTAGE Performance on the screen. If you change it, the Editor requires a short data update, which you trigger by hitting F5 on the computer. Overview The Performance Editor gives you access to the Common parameters, the Parts, but also the associated Arpeggios and Motion Sequences. The placement of these data in Keyboard Zones and Dynamic Ranges, as well as the Part Volume, Panning, Effect Sends, and Filters, are all within constant access. You can also adjust the assignments of the Knobs, the Super Knob, the Scenes and the Motion Sequences. The user interface allows you to quickly access the corresponding areas via dedicated buttons in the right bottom area of the window. Common parameters such as Volume and Global Effects are always visible and adjustable in the main window. Scan contents In addition, you should also use the Setup/Synchronize/ Performance Names option to import all Performance names into the software. You should allow some time for this procedure. When it is complete, the Performance Editor knows all Performance names, even from different Libraries. You can retrieve them in the Performance Editor with a simple mouse click, after which MONTAGE loads the corresponding data. This information is also extremely useful in combination with the search function described later. If individual Banks in MONTAGE change at a later time, for example in the User area, you can update these later. One of the most important advantages of an Editor software is of course the possibility of fast name changes. To change the name of a Performance, simply click in the corresponding field, edit the name and confirm the change with Return. The administration of sounds and other files directly on the computer can also be a tangible advantage. In the Performance Editor, for example, you can save individual Performances to the hard disk and, if required, store them in the DAW Project Folder for archiving. Seek and ye shall find The search for certain sounds is ingenious. To do this, rightclick in the Performance Editor and choose Performance Selection. A browser window will open, which will allow YAMAHA.COM 16

you to search for certain letter combinations such as "Pad". You can also enter the Category directly and separate it with a colon. Thus "dr: snare" lists all Performances of the category Drums, which are named "Snare" in the title. LFO modulations. Here you will also find a graphical Envelope control. A useful feature is the ability to mute or solo certain Elements directly. You will also find a search function for the Waveforms and the phrase recorder mentioned above. No less useful are the functions with which you can simply copy and paste Parts, Elements, but also Envelopes by right-clicking and pasting them elsewhere. You can even swap corresponding areas in this way. Integrated Keyboard The integrated virtual keyboard is extremely handy, which you can call up via the View menu. This allows you not only to play test notes quickly, but also to record a phrase directly using a recording function. Of course, you can also use the MONTAGE keyboard as well as the shortcuts "*" (record) and the space bar (playback). FM-X Editor A blessing for sound designers is the complete Editor for the FM-X area. Here you can go deep into FM synthesis: Part Edit If you want to go deeper into the Parts, you can do this with the three Editors for AWM2, FM-X, and the Drum Kits. To do this, simply click on the corresponding icon to the left of the corresponding Part. This will take you directly to its Common area. In no time at all you can change the Waveforms of the Elements as well as their Keyboard and Dynamic Range for an AWM Part. Other fields call up areas for editing Pitch, Filters, Equalizers, and possible Each parameter of the eight Operators and the subtractive sound shaping is accessible. Compared to working on the MONTAGE, the parameter set of the eight Operators is even easier to overview. In the Editor you use pop-up menus to select the Waveforms of the individual Operators, to define the Envelopes and set the Effects and Filters. Most of the parameter changes are directly audible. Once again, individual FM Parts can be saved and loaded as well as Operators and graphically editable Envelopes can be copied and swapped. In no time at all, you can create duplicates, which can easily be de-tuned or shifted in pitch. A tip for connoisseurs: The convenient overview of the various Parts makes it possible to create those legendary stack sounds of multiple FM Parts, with which the TX816 made its way into the charts in Thanks to 128-fold polyphony, MONTAGE can absolutely keep up in the FM range! YAMAHA.COM 17

The individual parameters can be adjusted with the mouse, just as in the AWM2 area, but also by numerical input via the computer keyboard. Speaking of which: Whoever can handle System Exclusive Data and wants to control his or her MONTAGE via additional Controllers will get the appropriate Data displayed in the bottom status bar of the Performance Editor with every parameter change. John Melas Software MONTAGE Performance Editor for macos and Windows Short interview with John Melas Drum Kit Editor Finally, the Drum Kit Editor also makes editing and configuring Drum Kits much easier. Once you have opened a corresponding Kit, pressing the corresponding key on the real or virtual keyboard will take you directly to its parameters, where you can adjust the Waveform as well as Pitch, Filter, and Effects. The Outputs can also be specified here, as well as Trigger Groups (e.g. for hi-hats) and the polyphony behavior of individual sounds, e.g. for cymbal sounds. How long have you been doing software Editors for Yamaha products? Back in 2004 I used to gig using my MOTIF ES and I was in need of a Performance Editor. So I created it! My MOTIF ES Performance Editor was released in I was very happy to see that other users also liked it as much as I did! So I continued creating Editors and Librarians for every single synthesizer Yamaha released from ES to XS and XF series. I am really happy to continue this in the new era of MONTAGE synthesizers! What's the specific task for handling the MONTAGE? conclusion If you regularly program your MONTAGE, we recommend the Performance Editor by John Melas. It offers a different perspective on the device and provides a further enhanced overview in several areas (including data management). One thing that the MONTAGE has and the MOTIFmodels did not have is multiple levels of nested parameters. A Performance has 16 Parts, each Part has four Motion SEQ Lanes and each Lane has 8 Sequences. To model this in my software, I had to use multidimensional indices for the first time. YAMAHA.COM 18

In general I had to rethink several aspects of my Editor platform to support the MONTAGE. Overall I am very happy with the results and I feel my platform gained much in flexibility and maturity from this! What are the biggest benefits from your point of view to use the Editor? In two words, I would say convenience and ergonomy. You can have an instant and detailed overview of what is happening on the MONTAGE, you can navigate and edit parameters quickly. Furthermore the Editor supports features that are not available on the MONTAGE itself, like loading and saving Parts to files, FM-X Operator solo/ mute, copy/paste functions for Effects, Envelopes, Control Sets, and much more!. Do you plan for ios-versions? I have plans for ios-tools but these do not include Editors. I feel that good Editors need a big screen and ergonomics that only computers are able to provide. However, I have productivity tools for ios in mind that would help to work on musical ideas but this is just a teaser. I cannot say more about this right now! Just in time for the release of the MONTAGE Firmware Version 2.0, the Editor receives a major update which will take into account the new functions. The new version is free of charge for registered users and will support the new Preset Banks as well as some other new settings. In addition, new System Exclusive Commands from Yamaha will make the software work faster. Finally, this version will include curve graphics for the Control Sets and Motion Sequences, which will make the software even clearer. Ulf Kaiser YAMAHA.COM 19

Yamaha EAD10 Additional Inputs for Pads, Triggers, and Footswitches In the last Yamaha Music Production Guide I introduced the new EAD10. With the following issues I would like to go into more detail and try to give you a lot of information and useful tips. In this chapter we will take a closer look at the back panel and the additional Inputs for Pads and Triggers. FOOT SW You can connect various Yamaha Footswitches or Controllers to this Input, such as FC5, FC7, or a HH65, and assign functions to them. For instance you can: Switch Scenes Forward or Back Adjust the Volume Trigger sounds Start and stop the Metronome These functions are very useful, like when you need different Scenes in a song or want to play a medley with different Drum Kits (Scenes). You can simply use a Footswitch or a Controller to change the Scenes. I tried this with an HH65. First, the HH65 must be connected to the EAD10 Module. YAMAHA.COM 21

Input 3 Snare/4 Then enter the Menu, select "Trigger", and "FootSwSelect". In this submenu you specify which Footswitch or Controller is to be used. In my case it's the HH65. Now you have to assign the function. Return to the Menu, then select "Utility" and "PadFunction". Here you can set the function you want to control with the HH65. In my case "inc scene" to switch to next Scene. It's really very simple. Once you have made the settings, simply place the HH65 in your drum kit and you're ready to change Scenes with your foot. This Input is perfectly suited for a DT50S Trigger to trigger the snare. The DT50S is a Dual Zone Trigger, which triggers the drum head and the drum hoop. In this way, the drum head and the hoop can have different e-drum sounds assigned to them. In addition, it is also possible to connect two Mono Pads by using an Y-cable again. Inputs 5 and 6 Inputs A/B, 1Kick/2 These Inputs are suitable for 3-Zone Pads. This means that you can assign three sounds to a Pad. The following drawing shows a PCY135 Cymbal Pad and a TP70S Snare/Tom Pad, depicting where the different Zones are located on the Pad. The Sensor Unit is connected to Inputs A and B using the supplied cable. These Inputs are for the microphone and the Trigger. However, you can split Input A and connect an additional Mono Pad to it. To do this, you need a Y-cable that separates the stereo signal into two mono signals. This is connected to Input A. Cable A is then connected to one of the resulting two Inputs and the additional Mono Pad, Trigger, or Controller to the other Input. Of course you can also use all other Pads, Mono Pads, and Triggers. Since you can obtain almost all Pads, Triggers, and Controllers separately, it's easy to create your own perfect setup. YAMAHA.COM 22

Pad & Trigger assignment If you have connected a new Pad or a Trigger to the EAD10, you should "tell" the EAD10 the type of the Pad you used. It's very simple. Press "Menu", select "Trigger", confirm with "Enter", select "Pad Type", and confirm with "Enter". Now you can use the "+/-" buttons to set the correct Pad or Trigger type. This setting is important for the Pad to work properly. You can also create your own settings, but this is a topic for another workshop. Conclusion The additional Inputs allow you to put together your own hybrid drum kit. You can use even more sounds and functions to make your drums sound even more interesting. In the next workshop I will show you how to assign and edit sounds. Have fun with your Yamaha EAD10! Your Ralf Mersch YAMAHA.COM 23

MOTIF XF Flash Memory Content Yamaha is working with third party software vendors to offer an extensive amount of free and optional Flash Memory content for registered MOTIF XF users. The flash memory content package Inspiration In A Flash make a perfect first stock for a sample-library of up to 2 GB for the non-volatile Flash Memory of the MOTIF XF. This content package contains three new User Voice Banks, 353 User Waveforms, 458 MB of Samples and 12 User Drum Kits. It focusses on the sound categories piano, organ, brass & reeds, pads, synths, oriental instruments and drums. These Voice Banks can be individually loaded into the volatile SDRAM of the MOTIF XF, if no Flash Memory Module is installed. The Symphonic Orchestra Library features 128 User Voices, 34 User Waveforms and 336 MB Samples (979 Keybanks). The orchestra library produced by Prof. Dr. Peter Jung (Duisburg-Essen, Germany) is based on recordings that were created over the past five years with the participation of two well-known Central European symphony orchestras. The recorded sounds are very lively and authentic. Some feature delicate impressions of disturbances that are typical for strings, such as the sound of slightly hitting the instrument body with the bow. All recordings were digitally processed on PCs, collaborating with well-known sound designers. 29 Soundset for MOTIF XF und MOXF VP1 Physical Modeling Yamaha offers another free soundset for the MOTIF / MOXF that is dealing with a truly legendary Yamaha synthesizer: the Virtual Acoustic Synthesizers VP1. The VP1 sounds brutal. The sound impresses by an amazing vitality, coupled with amazing stereo renderings. There is no doubt that even after almost twenty years the VP1 can sonically compete with current workstations. It was and is a truly remarkable result of exquisite engineering. sound, by varying the parameter values, can be dynamically changed using the numerous performance functions of VP1. The author Prof. Dr. Peter Juung has carefully recorded sounds of the VP1 and created a sound set. The VP1 soundset includes 565MB of sample data. Everything was recorded in stereo and organised in 19 Waveforms, which rely on 536 Keybanks. From these Waveforms 48 Voices whose character was previously only found in the original were programmed exclusively for the MOTIF and MOXF. Der VP1 from the inside The VP1 uses "Physical Modeling". With the help of a physical model, e.g. of a stringed instrument, you can get an actual sound by setting the parameter values. The excitement, e.g. a pick or a bow brings virtual kinetic energy into the model, which is made to audible sound by the model. A sound generated with the "Physical Modeling" synthesis is not a simple snapshot that does not change like with pure sampling. Rather than that, the "physical modeling" The soundset takes us into the magical world of "Physical Modeling" synthesis of the VP1. The soundset "VP1 MOTIF" can be requested by writing an with the subject "VP1" to: vp1@easysounds.de After successful registration you will get an from EASY SOUNDS containing the download link for the activation of the content. 31 MOTIF XF / MOXF Performance Soundset Hybrid Performer The recent Goodies contained almost exclusively User Voices and Samples. For some time now many users, however, expressed to get new content in the field of Performances and Live Mixings. Yamaha Europe now corresponds to this wish and provides new sound sets: Hybrid Live Performances for MOTIF XF and MOXF. The following Performance Sets are included in the downlad: Hybrid Performer - Set 1 32 Performances Performance mode Programmed by HaPe Henkel and Peter Krischker Hybrid Performer - Set 2 16 Hybrid Live Performances Song Mixing mode Programmed by HaPe Henkel Hybrid Performer - Set 3 32 Hybrid Live Performances Song Mixing mode These Performances are based on chart titles using the User Sound Library that has been launched some years ago Programmed by Jean Moric Behrends The sets 2 and 3 on the other hand contain "Hybrid Live Performances", which are very popular among live keyboardists. Hybrid Live Performances are Mixings at the highest level and with the broadest capabilities. They contain not only complex layer or split programmings, but even allow to switch between sounds without interruption. Many ambitious and professional keyboardist prefer these special Live Performances over traditional Performances with their four different Parts. A Hybrid Live Performance is created in the Song or Pattern Mixing mode. In contrast to the Performance mode, up to 16 Parts are available here. In a Hybrid Live Performance groups can be formed with different MIDI Receive Channels (Receive Ch.). Thus, within a single Mixing even more than one Performance can be realised. They can be selected by using the TRACK SELECT buttons without having the previous sound cut off. A common download folder is set up for the three sets of the Hybrid Performer series. The sets are available for MOTIF XF and MOXF and can be requested by writing an with the subject "Hybrid" to: hybridperformer@easysounds.de After registration you will receive an containing a download link from EASY SOUNDS with a clearance for the content.
