He has guest coducted the Győr Philharmoic Orchestra, Szeged Symphoy Orchestra, Aima Musicae Chamber Orchestra, Vespro Chamber Orchestra ad Choir, Lavotta Orchestra, Ciuc Chamber Orchestra amog others. He served as the assistat coductor of the Szolok Symphoy Orchestra from 2012 to As a composer ad as a chamber musicia Derecskei has bee a prize wier of umerous competitios icludig the Hugaria atioal Chamber Music Competitio (grad ad first prize), Liszt Academy Compositio Competitio (first prize ad Attila Bozay Special Award), Leó Weier Chamber Music Competitio (secod prize), Budapest Sprig Festival Fugato Foudatio Competitio (secod ad public s prizes) ad the Iteratioal Jaáček Strig Quartet Competitio (third prize). I September 2015 he was a prize wier i the Crossover Competitio i Maheim, Germay. Derecskei has bee featured o the Hugaria atioal Televisio ad Radio several times ad has received a Zoltá Kodály Compositio Fellowship three times. His compositios have bee performed almost all over the world. Derecskei is curretly pursuig a Doctor of Musical Arts degree i orchestral coductig at the Uiversity of Arizoa with Dr. Thomas Cockrell, where he serves as a coductor of the UA Philharmoic ad assistat coductor for the Arizoa Symphoy Orchestra. Missa i C otes & Traslatios Perhaps oe of his most popular works, Missa i C was composed for the Mass for Easter day i 1779, durig Wolfgag s employmet with the Archbishop i Salzburg. It fits the requiremets of the sovereig to last o more tha 45 miutes, but still features the istrumetatio of grader solem masses, icludig trumpets, timpai, hors ad oboes. As early as the 19th cetury, the mass has bee referred to as Coroatio Mass eve though Mozart himself did ot give it that ame. It is speculated that it was performed for coroatio festivities i Prague (where he was held i high regard), either for Leopold II i 1791 or for his successor Fracis I i Mozart s operas, icludig The Marriage of Figaro, were wildly popular i Prague. It is likely that oe of the reasos this mass was so well received there is because of the soprao solo i the fial movemet, which is remarkably similar to the Coutess s aria Dove soo i that opera. I its raks are music majors ad miors, as well as may studets ad other members of the UA commuity. The Philharmoic performs a cross-sectio of the orchestral repertoire i a umber of cocerts each year. The esemble performs uder the bato of doctoral studets Adrás Derecskei ad Jua Motoya, uder the directio of Director of Orchestral Activities, Dr. Thomas Cockrell.

5 Dr. ELIZABETH SCHAUER serves as associate director of choral activities ad professor of music at the Uiversity of Arizoa, where she is i her fourteeth year of teachig. A award-wiig educator, Dr. Schauer directs the Symphoic Choir ad teaches udergraduate ad graduate courses i coductig, literature ad methods. She is i demad as a adjudicator, cliicia, preseter ad guest coductor throughout the Uited States, icludig recetly for performaces with the atioal High School Wome s Hoor Choir at Caregie Hall ad the Coecticut ad ew Mexico All-State Choirs. Choirs uder her directio have bee selected by auditio ad ivited to perform o local, state ad regioal cofereces of America Choral Directors Associatio (ACDA), atioal Associatio for Music Educatio, College Music Society ad America Guild of Orgaists. Dr. Schauer curretly is immediate past presidet of Arizoa ACDA, ad recetly served o the Coferece Plaig Committee of the Wester Divisio of ACDA. She holds degrees from Uiversity of Ciciati College-Coservatory of Music, Westmister Choir College ad Uiversity of Michiga. About the Artists ATHEA BEEBE has performed with may compaies throughout Arizoa. She has bee featured i Theater Works productios icludig Hairspray (Prudy/Matro) ad Big The Musical. She also has bee see with Creative Stages Happy Days ad Starlight Commuity Theater s How to Succeed i Busiess Without Really Tryig (Miss Joes). Durig her time at the Uiversity of Arizoa, she has performed with the UA Opera Theater i L elisir d amore, Dialogues of the Carmelites (Mother Jeae) ad Orpheus i the Uderworld (Veus). Ms. Beebe is workig towards her Bachelor of Music degree i voice performace at the Uiversity of Arizoa uder the directio of Dr. Hugo Vera. She serves as presidet of the Alpha Beta Chapter of Sigma Alpha Iota, a atioal music service sorority. FRAIE BARROWS, soprao, is a seior at the Uiversity of Arizoa studyig with Dr. Kristi Dauphiais. Fraie was most recetly see as Cupid i the UA Opera Theater productio of Orpheus i the Uderworld. Other UA operas i which she has performed are L efat et les sortilèges ad Dialogues of the Carmelites. She has also appeared i UA Opera Scees programs i roles such as Fiordiligi (Così Fa Tutte), Alice Ford (Merry Wives of Widsor), ad Susaa (Le ozze di Figaro). Last summer Fraie studied i Salzburg, Austria with Elizabeth Futral. This summer she will perform with Chicago Summer Opera coverig The Quee of the ight role i Mozart s The Magic Flute. ABIGAIL ECKERT, mezzo-soprao, studies uder Dr. Kristi Dauphiais at the Uiversity of Arizoa where she is pursuig a Bachelor of Music degree i music educatio with a emphasis i voice. She has appeared i various UA Opera Theatre productios such as L elisir d amore, L efat et les Sortilèges, ad Poulec s Dialogues of the Carmelites. BEJAMI LEBOVITZ is the choir director at Walde Grove High School i Sahuarita, servig as the South Cetral Regioal Choir chair for the Arizoa Music Educator Associatio (AMEA) as well as the repertoire ad resources chair of cotemporary commercial music withi the state chapter of the America Choral Directors Associatio (ACDA). A graduate of the Uiversity of Arizoa, he is a alumus of both the Symphoic Choir ad Arizoa Choir. ow i his fourth year at Walde Grove High School, he coducts four esembles ad collaborates ofte with commuity orgaizatios ad esembles across Souther Arizoa. JOATHA RUBIO is a seior vocal performace major with a mior i marketig. He studies voice with Dr. Adrew Stuckey ad has bee a part of UA Opera productios icludig The Reformed Drukard (The Mikado), ad performed i Dialogues of the Carmelites. He is also the curret presidet of CatCall A Cappella. Joatha has bee a member of Symphoic Choir for three years ad this will be his fial performace with the choir. ext year Joatha will cotiue his vocal studies, pursuig graduate studies at Uiversity of Souther Califoria. Jacob Walters is a teor studyig uder the directio of Dr. Hugo Vera at the Uiversity of Arizoa. Mr. Walters, a Tucso ative, has performed i umerous commuity ad professioal musical theatre productios. These iclude Sodheim s Ito The Woods as Jack, Bye Bye Birdie as Mr. MacAfee ad various roles i several rus of musical adaptatios of A Christmas Carol at The Comedy Playhouse. Mr. Walters has bee pursuig performace for most of his life, with traiig i musical theatre, voice, ad piao startig at the age of eight. He has appeared i UA Opera Theatre productios, icludig Dialogues of the Carmelites ad Orpheus i the Uderworld, i which he was Orpheus. Mr. Walters has also take part i Lawrece Opera Theatre s 2016 ad 2017 seasos, playig First Sailor i a avat-garde presetatio of Hery Purcell s Dido ad Aeeas, ad coverig Moostatos i Mozart s The Magic Flute, i Lawrece, Kasas. Recetly, Mr. Walters has had the hoor of beig awarded secod place i his divisio of the 2018 ATS auditios, ad tyig for secod place i the 2018 Amelia Riema competitio.

This auditioed, extracurricular choir features freshme through seiors represetig each of the five curricular choirs offered at Maraa. This sprig, Prima collaborated with George Haso ad Jamie Berstei i two symposia o the life ad music of Leoard Berstei for the 2018 Tucso Desert Sog Festival. Prima was just awarded Best-i-Class for vocal esembles i the 2018 Arizoa State Solo ad Esemble Festival. SARAH ROSS is i her 11th year as director of choirs at Maraa High School. Mrs. Ross is a member of the America Choral Directors Associatio (ACDA) ad atioal Associatio for Music Educatio (AfME) ad is curretly servig as vice presidet for High School Activities for Arizoa Music Educators Associatio. Maraa Choir studets have recetly bee see at the 2015 ACDA Studet Symposium, i AfME All-atioal Hoor Choirs, o Broadway i the atioal High School Musical Theatre Awards, ad alogside Jamie Berstei at the 2018 Tucso Desert Sog Festival celebratig Berstei at 100. Mrs. Ross is the fouder ad coductor of Maraa Commuity Music Theatre. She is a recipiet of the Circle K/UA Teacher of the Year, Maraa USD Teacher of the Year, the Tow of Maraa Bradig Iro Awards ad is a Yale Distiguished Music Educator. It is the oldest high school i Arizoa, the largest i Souther Arizoa ad the sixth largest i the state with more tha 3,000 studets erolled. Choral groups have bee a importat aspect of THMS for geeratios. Studets have the opportuity to participate i oe of the five choirs offered, ad pride themselves o their ability to sig i a variety of musical styles. Together they comprise the advaced classes at THMS choir ad vocal music program. CHIZURU JURMA teaches vocal music ad directs five choirs at Tucso High Maget School. She has taught voice, choir, musical theatre ad opera i Arts Itegratio, ad has performed mezzo-soprao ad soprao repertoire professioally i cocerts, recitals, operas ad oratorios locally ad iteratioally, as well as i professioal choirs.
