10 Visiting Professionals to the Stevenson High School Community The Stevenson High School Community Foundation supports the Fine Arts Division and the entire school and community by providing an array of performances throughout the year. The line-up includes the following: Cavern Beat: A Beatles Tribute Band Saturday, October 24 Fall Children s Play The Brothers Grimm: Out of Order Performances: Sunday, November 1 (With a Halloween Costume Party before the show) 1 & 3 p.m. The Second City Saturday, January 30 Spring Children s Play Peter Pan & Wendy Performances: Sunday, March 7 1 & 3 p.m. Karrin Allyson Saturday, April 10 Photo: Mila Samokhina Each month our Rotunda Gallery showcases the work of a different professional artist that then works in residency with our students. Artists from previous years have included Kathleen Eaton whose works focus on city and suburban architecture; the father-son team of sculptor Joseph Buirlini and son, Chris, a painter; and Mila Samokhina, a Stevenson parent and photographer whose works typically explore flora emphasizing the intensity and complexity of natural beauty. The Stevenson High School Fine Arts Division has a long, rich history of our faculty partnering with experts from the Chicagoland area. These professionals significantly contribute to the overall success of our students and programs. Our faculty, coupled with support and leadership from these dedicated individuals has brought many of our co-curricular and extra-curricular programs to that of national recognition.

We offer a rigorous fine arts curriculum that rivals many university programs in its scope. It challenges students to think creatively, encourages risk taking, and enables students to apply their problemsolving skills beyond the classroom. Theatre Faculty Stephen Carmody Sonia Gecker Rich Green Angel Barry Cindy Lynch Lauren Rawitz Inquiries concerning the fine arts courses or activities, or related educational programs should be directed to: Stephen Plank, Director of Fine Arts Janet Gonzalez, Principal Dr. Eric Twadell, Superintendent The study of fine art is important to everyone... at both the individual and societal levels. The Fine Arts division at Adlai E. Stevenson High School excels in fine arts education and has courses for everyone - in all areas and at all levels. Students in the Fine Arts experience the actual application of knowledge and skills on a daily basis with culminating work often approaching or achieving professional levels. In Fine Arts we don t simply read or learn about our subjects; we dance, sing, play, act, paint, and sculpt. And, we share our work with our peers and our community.
