Make sure that the watch is exposed to bright ight whenever possibe. This watch uses a specia rechargeabe battery to store power produced by the soar ce, so reguar battery repacement is not required. However, after very ong use, the rechargeabe battery may ose its abiity to achieve a fu charge. If you experience probems getting the specia rechargeabe battery to charge fuy, contact your deaer or CASIO distributor about having it repaced. With this Home Time Zone setting, the watch is configured to receive the time caibration signas of Japan. If you are using the watch in North America, you wi need to change the Home Time Zone setting to match your ocation whenever the battery drops to Leve 3. Leaving the watch in direct sunight or some other very strong ight source can cause the battery power indication to show a reading that momentariy is higher than the actua battery eve. The correct battery power indication shoud appear after a few minutes. Charging Precautions Certain charging conditions can cause the watch to become very hot. Avoid eaving the watch in the areas described beow whenever charging its rechargeabe battery. Warning! Leaving the watch in bright ight to charge its rechargeabe battery can cause it to become quite hot. Take care when handing the watch to avoid burn injury. Press C to dispay the DST setting screen. 3. Press B to cyce through the DST settings in the sequence shown beow. Auto DST ( ) DST off ( ) DST on ( ) 4. Press A to exit the setting screen. The DST indicator appears on the dispay to indicate that Dayight Saving Time is turned on. Turning on DST causes the GMT differentia vaue to be increased by one. The (GMT: Greenwich Mean Time) time zone cannot be switched between Standard Time and Dayight Saving Time. 4

5 Reference This section contains more detaied and technica information about watch operation. It aso contains important precautions and notes about the various features and functions of this watch. Power Saving Power Saving enters a seep state automaticay whenever the watch is eft for a certain period in an area where it is dark. The tabe beow shows how watch functions are affected by Power Saving. There actuay are two seep state eves: second hand seep and function seep. Eapsed Time in Dark Operation 60 to 70 minutes is stopped and dispay is bank. A other (second hand seep) functions are enabed. 6 or 7 days A functions, incuding anaog timekeeping, disabed (function seep) Interna timekeeping maintained Wearing the watch inside the seeve of cothing can cause it to enter the seep state. The watch wi not enter the seep state between 6:00 AM and 9:59 PM. If the watch is aready in the seep state when 6:00 AM arrives, however, it wi remain in the seep state. To recover from the seep state Perform any one of the foowing operations. Move the watch to a we-it area. Press any button. Auto Return Features If you eave the watch in the Aarm or Hand Setting Mode for two or three minutes without performing any operation, it returns to the Timekeeping Mode automaticay. If you do not perform any operation for about two or three minutes whie a setting mode is seected, the watch wi exit the setting mode automaticay. Scroing The B button is used to change the hand setting in various setting modes. In most cases, hoding down this button wi start high-speed movement of the appicabe hand(s). High-speed movement of hands wi continue unti you press any button, or unti the moving hand(s) finishes one compete cyce. - One compete cyce for the hands is one revoution (360 degrees) or 24 hours. Under certain conditions, iumination may not turn on unti about one second after you turn the face of the watch towards you. This does not necessariy indicate mafunction of the auto ight switch. You may notice a very faint cicking sound coming from the watch when it is shaken back and forth. This sound is caused by mechanica operation of the auto ight switch, and does not indicate a probem with the watch. Tachymeter Tachymeter beze If your watch has a tachymeter beze, you can perform the steps beow to cacuate average speed after using the 60 Mode to measure the amount of time that it takes to trave one kiometer (or one mie). Never try to perform stopwatch operations whie you are driving an automobie, riding a bicyce, or operating any type of vehice. Doing so is very dangerous and can resut in accident. 1 In the Mode, start an eapsed time operation at any point you ike. 2 Stop the eapsed time operation after you trave one kiometer or one mie. 3 Your average speed wi be the vaue that the second hand is pointing to on the tachymeter beze. The iustration shows an exampe where it took 50 seconds to trave one kiometer by car. The second hand is pointing at 70, which indicates that the average speed is 70 kiometers per hour. See for detais about using the stopwatch. The tachymeter can be used ony when you are traveing by car or some other means that can cover one kiometer or one mie within 60 seconds TACHYMETER Radio-controed Atomic Timekeeping Precautions Strong eectrostatic charge can resut in the wrong time being set. The time caibration signa bounces off the ionosphere. Because of this, such factors as changes in the refectivity of the ionosphere, as we as movement of the ionosphere to higher atitudes due to seasona atmospheric changes or the time of day may change the reception range of the signa and make reception temporariy impossibe. Even if the time caibration signa is received propery, certain conditions can cause the time setting to be off by up to one second. The current time setting in accordance with the time caibration signa takes priority over any time settings you make manuay. The watch is designed to update the date and day of the week automaticay for the period January 1, 2000 to December 31, Setting of the date by the time caibration signa wi not be performed starting from January 1, This watch can receive signas that differentiate between eap years and non-eap years. Though this watch is designed to receive both time data (hour, minutes, seconds) and date data (year, month, day), certain signa conditions can imit reception to time data ony. If you are in an area where proper time caibration signa reception is impossibe, the watch keeps time within ±20 seconds a month at norma temperature. If you have probems with proper time caibration signa reception or if the time setting is wrong after signa reception, check your current Home Time Zone, and DST (summer time). Timekeeping The year can be set in the range of 2000 to The watch s buit-in fu automatic caendar makes aowances for different month engths and eap years. Once you set the date, there shoud be no reason to change it except when battery power drops to Leve 3. The date wi change automaticay when the current time reaches midnight. The date change at the end of the month may take more time than norma. The current time for a time zones in the Timekeeping Mode and Dua Time Mode is cacuated in accordance with the Greenwich Mean Time (GMT) differentia of each zone, based on your Home Time Zone time setting. GMT differentia is cacuated by this watch based on Universa Time Coordinated (UTC*) data. * UTC is the word-wide scientific standard of timekeeping. It is based upon carefuy maintained atomic (cesium) cocks that keep time accuratey to within microseconds. Leap seconds are added or subtracted as necessary to keep UTC in sync with the Earth s rotation. The reference point for UTC is Greenwich, Engand. Iumination Precautions The iumination provided by the ight may be hard to see when viewed under direct sunight. Iumination turns off automaticay whenever an aarm sounds. Frequent use of iumination shortens the battery operating time. Auto ight switch precautions Wearing the watch on the inside of your wrist, movement of your arm, or vibration of your arm can cause frequent activation of the auto ight switch and iuminate the face of the watch. To avoid running down the battery, turn off the auto ight switch whenever engaging in activities that might cause frequent iumination of the face. Note that wearing the watch under your seeve whie the auto ight switch is turned on can cause frequent iumination of the face and can run down the battery. More than 15 degrees too high Iumination may not turn on if the face of the watch is more than 15 degrees above or beow parae. Make sure that the back of your hand is parae to the ground. Iumination turns off in about one second, even if you keep the watch pointed towards your face. Static eectricity or magnetic force can interfere with proper operation of the auto ight switch. If iumination does not turn on, try moving the watch back to the starting position (parae with the ground) and then tit it back towards your face again. If this does not work, drop your arm a the way down so it hangs at your side, and then bring it back up again. 5
