7 Iumination Precautions The eectro-uminescent pane that provides iumination oses power after very ong use. Iumination may be difficut to see when viewed under direct sunight. The watch may emit an audibe sound whenever the dispay is iuminated. This is due to vibration of the EL pane used for iumination, and does not indicate mafunction. Iumination turns off automaticay whenever an aarm sounds. Frequent use of iumination runs down the battery. Auto ight switch precautions Avoid wearing the watch on the inside of your wrist. Doing so causes the auto ight switch to operate when it is not needed, which shortens battery ife. If you want to wear the watch on the inside of your wrist, turn off the auto ight switch feature. E-60 More than 15 degrees too high Iumination may not turn on if the face of the watch is more than 15 degrees above or beow parae. Make sure that the back of your hand is parae to the ground. Iumination turns off after a preset amount of time (1.5 or 3 seconds), even if you keep the watch pointed towards your face. Static eectricity or magnetic force can interfere with proper operation of the auto ight switch. If iumination does not turn on, try moving the watch back to the starting position (parae with the ground) and then tit it back toward you again. If this does not work, drop your arm a the way down so it hangs at your side, and then bring it back up again. Under certain conditions, iumination may not turn on unti about one second after you turn the face of the watch towards you. This does not necessariy indicate mafunction of the auto ight switch. You may notice a very faint cicking sound coming from the watch when it is shaken back and forth. This sound is caused by mechanica operation of the auto ight switch, and does not indicate a probem with the watch.
