The iustration shown beow shows how you shoud position the watch for charging. Exampe: Orient the watch so its face is pointing at a ight source. Soar ce Note that charging efficiency drops when any part of the soar ce is bocked by cothing, etc. The iustration shows how to position a watch with a resin band. Important! Storing the watch for ong periods in an area where there is no ight or wearing it in such a way that it is bocked from exposure to ight can cause rechargeabe battery power to run down. Be sure that the watch is normay exposed to bright ight whenever possibe. This watch empoys a soar ce that converts ight into eectricity, which charges a buit-in rechargeabe battery. Normay, the rechargeabe battery shoud not need repacement, but after very ong use over a number of years, the rechargeabe battery may ose its abiity to achieve a fu charge. Shoud you notice probems with getting the rechargeabe battery to a fu charge, contact your deaer or CASIO distributor about having the rechargeabe battery repaced. The rechargeabe battery shoud be repaced with a CASIO-specified CTL1616 battery ony. Other rechargeabe batteries can cause damage to the watch. A data stored in memory is deeted, and the current time and a other settings return to their initia factory defauts whenever battery power drops to Leve 5 and when you have the battery repaced. Turn on the watch s Power Saving function and keep it in an area normay exposed to bright ight when storing it for ong periods. This heps to keep the rechargeabe battery from going dead. Charging Precautions Certain charging conditions can cause the watch to become very hot. Avoid eaving the watch in the areas described beow whenever charging its rechargeabe battery. Aso note that aowing the watch to become very hot can cause its iquid crysta dispay to back out. The appearance of the LCD shoud become norma again when the watch returns to a ower temperature. Warning! Leaving the watch in bright ight to charge its rechargeabe battery can cause it to become quite hot. Take care when handing the watch to avoid burn injury. The watch can become particuary hot when exposed to the foowing conditions for ong periods. 5 The Moon phase indicator shows the Moon as viewed at noon from a position in the Northern Hemisphere ooking south. Note that at times the image shown by the Moon phase indicator may differ from that of the actua Moon in your area. The eft-right orientation of the Moon phase is reversed when viewing from the Southern Hemisphere or from a point near the equator. Moon Phases and Moon Age The Moon goes through a reguar day cyce during which it appears to wax and wane due to how the Sun iuminates the Moon and the reative positioning of the Earth, Moon, and Sun. The greater the anguar distance between the Moon and the Sun,* the more we see iuminated. * The ange to the Moon in reation to the direction at which the Sun is visibe from the Earth. This watch perform a rough cacuation of the current Moon age starting from day 0 of the moon age cyce. The actua Moon age average cyce is days, but this can vary anywhere from 1 day to +1 day for specific months. Since this performs cacuations using integer vaues ony (no fractions), the margin for error of the dispayed Moon age is ±2 days. Tide Graph The back bar on the watch s tide graph indicates the current tide. High tide Low tide High tide Tida Movements Tides are the periodic rise and fa of the water of oceans, seas, bays, and other bodies of water caused mainy by the gravitationa interactions between the Earth, Moon and Sun. Tides rise and fa about every six hours. The tide graph of this watch indicates tida movement based on the Moon s transit over a meridian and the unitida interva. The unitida interva differs according to your current ocation, so you must specify a unitida interva in order to obtain the correct tide graph readings. Lunitida Interva Theoreticay, high tide is at the Moon s transit over the meridian and ow tide is about six hours ater. Actua high tide occurs somewhat ater, due to factors such as viscosity, friction, and underwater topography. Both the time differentia between the Moon s transit over the meridian unti high tide and the time differentia between the Moon s transit over the meridian unti ow tide are known as the unitida interva. When setting the unitida interva for this watch, use the time differentia between the Moon s transit over the meridian unti high tide. Auto Return Feature If you eave a screen with fashing digits on the dispay for two or three minutes without performing any operation, the watch automaticay saves any settings you have made up to that point and exits the setting Data and Setting Scroing The A and D buttons are used in various modes and setting screens to scro through data on the dispay. In most cases, hoding down these buttons during a scro operation scros through the data at high speed. Timekeeping Resetting the seconds to 00 whie the current count is in the range of 30 to 59 causes the minutes to be increased by 1. In the range of 00 to 29, the seconds are reset to 00 without changing the minutes. With the 12-hour format, the P (PM) indicator appears on the dispay for times in the range of noon to 11:59 p.m. and no indicator appears for times in the range of midnight to 11:59 a.m. With the 24-hour format, times are dispayed in the range of 0:00 to 23:59, without any indicator. The year can be set in the range of 2000 to The watch s buit-in fu automatic caendar automaticay makes aowances for different month engths and eap years. Once you set the date, there shoud be no reason to change it except when battery power drops to Leve 5. Backight Precautions The eectro-uminescent pane that provides iumination oses power after very ong use. The iumination provided by the backight may be hard to see when viewed under direct sunight. The watch may emit an audibe sound whenever the dispay is iuminated. This is due to vibration of the EL pane used for iumination, and does not indicate mafunction. The backight automaticay turns off whenever an aarm sounds. Frequent use of the backight runs down the battery. Auto ight switch precautions Wearing the watch on the inside of your wrist and movement or vibration of your arm can cause the auto ight switch to activate and iuminate the dispay. To avoid running down the battery, turn off the auto ight switch whenever engaging in activities that might cause frequent iumination of the dispay. More than 15 degrees too high The backight may not ight if the face of the watch is more than 15 degrees above or beow parae. Make sure that the back of your hand is parae to the ground. The backight turns off in about one second, even if you keep the watch pointed towards your face. Static eectricity or magnetic force can interfere with proper operation of the auto ight switch. If the backight does not ight, try moving the watch back to the starting position (parae with the ground) and then tit it back toward you again. If this does not work, drop your arm a the way down so it hangs at your side, and then bring it back up again. Under certain conditions, the backight may not ight unti about one second after you turn the face of the watch towards you. This does not necessariy indicate mafunction of the backight.
