4 EasyODN The optical distribution network (ODN) is an indispensable path for transmitting Enterprise Business Group data and directly affects the performance, reliability, and scalability of an Enterprise Business Group system. Huawei provides a comprehensive series of ODN products to deliver fast ODN customization services to enterprises worldwide. An Enterprise Business Group system consists of three parts: optical line terminal (OLT), optical distribution network (ODN), and optical network terminal (ONT). The ODN, an integral part of the Enterprise Business Group system, resides as the physical path for optical transmission between the OLT and the ONT. Its reach is 20 km or farther. Within the ODN, optical fibers, connectors, splitters, and auxiliary components collaborate with each other. The ODN specifically has five segments: feeder fiber, optical distribution point, distribution fiber, optical access point, and drop fiber. The feeder fiber starts from the optical distribution frame (ODF) in the central office (CO) telecommunications room and ends at the optical distribution point for long-distance coverage. The distribution fiber from the optical distribution point to the optical access point distributes optical fibers for areas alongside it. The drop fiber connects the optical access point to terminals (ONTs), achieving optical fiber drop into user homes. Statistics show that outlays of the ODN account for 50% to 70% of the total Enterprise Business Group investments, greatly influencing the comprehensive Enterprise Business Group costs. In addition, the ODN is the very path essential to Enterprise Business Group data transmission and its quality directly affects the performance, reliability, and scalability of the Enterprise Business Group system. 5 EasyODN Huawei s EasyODN Solution As an experienced access network solution leader in the world, Huawei has deep understanding and rich experience in Enterprise Business Group construction and provides services for enterprises worldwide, including ODN project consultancy, network planning, network design, and engineering implementation. 1. Best Economic zproject Consultancy Huawei provides the consultant-assisted project consultancy service by comprehensively analyzing the feasibility of an ODN project based on the service demand, network buildout goal, as-is network and service status, and investment budget of enterprises. Fast Deployment Based on rich engineering experience, Huawei concentrates efforts into engineering efficiency improvement by optimizing product design and engineering technologies to achieve fast Enterprise Business Group deployment. For example, the air-blown micro cable with the industry s smallest gauge is used, maximizing the pipe utilization. In addition, the user-friendly building-entry and house-entry products such as the industry s innovative fiber access terminal (FAT) are provided, facilitating the inside plant (ISP) engineering. Furthermore, Huawei provides fast product customization or integration for meeting enterprises ODN construction requirements and accelerating service launching. Huawei is an experienced optical access leader who has engaged in multiple optical network deployments and turnkey projects. 6 EasyODN 3. Easy Management (iodn) To cope with management for mass optical fibers brought by scale of Enterprise Business Group deployments, Huawei launches the first iodn system in the industry. iodn is endowed with multiple intelligence functions, such as automatically identifying and managing optical fiber connections, intelligently indicating optical fiber connection operations, and intelligently managing optical splitters. Using iodn, enterprises can automatically find out the target optical fiber and appropriately operate it, paving the way for massive Enterprise Business Group rollouts. Ongoing EasyODN Deployments in the Globe Huawei s EasyODN has so far participated in multiple ODN projects worldwide, helping enterprises minimize network buildout risks, improve network deployment efficiency, and shorten time-to-market of services. The one-stop service package of the OLT, ODN and ONT provided by Huawei enables carriers to drive down management expenditure and accelerate service provisioning. Backed by a pool of competent R&D engineers and globally-assigned technical support professionals, Huawei is quickly and efficiently responsive to enterprises customization demands and network deployment issues. By half 2010, Huawei has delivered premium ODN products with approximately 300,000 user lines to Etisalat and won high praise with the superb product design and fast and flexible delivery. Huawei is now rising as the largest ODN supplier of Etisalat. Huawei has also helped BSNL, the largest carrier in India, build out India s first commercial GPON network whose reach is into Indian major large and mediumsized cities. Within just a half year, Huawei has delivered 33,000 wall-mounted optical splitters targeting at approximately 330,000 user lines. Moreover, Huawei has delivered a series of GPON network-wide end-toend turnkey projects including the national broadband network (NBBN) of Maxis in Malaysia, the first commercial GPON network of VNPT in Vietnam, and the Qatar NBBN. Omantel and Bahrain Telecom have selected Huawei as their only GPON E2E turnkey partner and likewise BT has selected Huawei as its exclusive supplier for WDM1r. In the mobile field, Huawei s EasyODN has helped mobile carriers like Shyam Telelink in India, American Movis in Chile, Mobile in Yemen, MTN in Rwanda, Intercellular in Nigeria, to achieve mobile backhaul of base stations. By Dec 2010, Huawei s EasyODN has serviced 38 worldleading carriers, such as China Telecom, China Unicom, China Mobile, Nucleus Connect (NC), Saudi Telecom Company (STC), and Romania Telecom. 12 FDT Product Overview The FDT (Fiber Distribution Terminal) is used for achieving connection and grooming of optical cable. It is mainly suitable for optical cross-connecting point between optical transmission network, optical transmission equipment and access network for the fiber subscribers.
