1 QUICK START. GUIDE Welome to your new TV! The following instrutions over assembling, onneting, and setting up your new TV. Make sure you have the aessories listed below. Be sure to hek the orientation of the plug before plugging it in. Step 7 Attah the TV to the Stand Lay the TV on a 'Soft surfae, sreen side down. Use the paking material to protet the sreen. Plug the power ord into a wall outlet, and then press the POWER button to turn on the TV. Configure your TV's basi settings in the initial setup by following the instrutions on your TV's sreen. (!) Getting Started Provide Ventilation for Your 1V 'N'NW.samsung.om When you install your TV, maintain a distane of at least 4 inhes between the lv and other objets (walls, abinet sides, et.) to ensure proper ventilation. Installing Batteries into the Remote (Battery size: AAA) Math the polarity of the batteries to the symbols in the batter ompartment.... 4 6. Making Connetions Connet your TV to an antenna or able onnetion, and then onnet your peripherals. When done, onnet the power ord to the TV, and then onnet the power ord to an AC wall outlet. If you are onneting your TV to a able or satellite box using HDMI, Component, or Composite onnetions, you do not need to onnet the ANT IN jak to an antenna or a able onnetion. FOf the best piture and audio quality, onnet digital devies using an HDMI able. If you onnet an external de~e to the 1V that uses an older version of HDMI, the video and audio may not work. If this ours, ask the manufaturer of the devie about the HDMI version and, if it is out of date, request an upgrade. Be sure to purhase a ertified HDMI able. Changing the Input Soure Ill Soure List When you are wathing lv and you want to wath a movie on your DVD player or Blu-ray player or swith to your able box or STB satellite reeiver, you need to hange the Soure. 1. In the Soure List, onneted inputs are highlighted. How to Use Ed~ Name Edit Name lets you assoiate a devie name to an input soure. To aess Edit Name, press the TOOLS button when the Soure List is displayed. Selet the name of the devie onneted to speifi input jaks to make your input soure seletion easier. Aessing and Using the Main Menu Ill Your TV's Main menu ontains funtions that let you ontrol many of the TV's features. For example, in the Main menu you an hange the size and onfiguration of the piture, its brightness, ~s ontrast and so on. There are also funtions that let you ontrol the TV's sound, hannel onfiguration, energy use, and a host of other features. To aess the main. on-sreen menu, press the MENU (lid) button on your remote. To use the Main menu, press the li. /T buttons to move between the main option ategories: Piture, Sound, Channel, et. Eah time you press a J;. /'f buttons, the main ategory name on the left side of the menu hanges. that option. Usually, you would then press ENTER [!I to selet a value or hoie. Press the RETURN button or the <1111 button to retum to a previous sreen or seletion. 1. Us1ng the TV's Controller (Panel Key) Ill The TV's Controller, a small joy stik like button on the rear right side of the lv, lets you ontrol the TV without the remote ontrol. To use the ontroller, push it forwards, bakwards, left, or right. To make a seletion, press up. If a file is orrupted or the TV does not support the file type, the Not Supported File Format message appears. The TV annot play MP3 files with DRM that have been downloaded from a for-pay site. Digital Rights Management (DRM) is a tehnology that supports the reation, distribution, and management of digital ontent in an integrated and omprehensive way, inluding proteting the rights and interests of ontent providers, preventing illegal opying of ontents, and managing billings and settlements. PTP devie is not supported. If an over-power warning message is displayed while you are onneting or using a USB devie, the devie may not be reognized or may malfuntion. If the TV has no input during the time set in Auto Protetion Time, the Sreensaver will run. The power-saving mode of some external hard disk drives may be released automatially when your onnet them to the TV. If you use a USB extension able, the TV may not reognize the USB devie or may not be able to read the files on the devie. Poor piture First, perform the Piture Test and to see if your TV is properly displaying the test image. Go to MENU - Support - Self Diagnosis - Piture Test If the test image is properly displayed, the poor piture may be aused by the soure or signal. The TV image does not look as good as it did in the store. If you have an analog able/satellite box, upgrade to a digital set top box. Use HDMI or Component ables to deliver HD (high definition) piture quality. Cable/Satellite subsribers: Try HD hannels from the hannel line up. Air/Cable Antenna onnetion: Try HD hannels after performing Auto program. Many HD hannels are up saled from SD(Standard Definition) ontents. Adjust the Cable/Set top box video output resolution to 18i or 72p. The piture is distorted: maroblok error, small blok, dots, pixelization. Compression of video ontents may ause piture distortion, espeially on fast moving pitures suh as sports and ation movies. A weak signal an ause piture distortion. This is not a TV problem. Mobile phones used lose to the TV (within 3.3ft) may ause noise in the piture on analog and digital hannels. Color is wrong or missing. If you re using a omponent onnetion, make sure the omponent ables are onneted to the orret jaks. Inorret or loose onnetions may ause olor problems or a blank sreen. There is poor olor or brightness. Adjust the Piture options in the TV menu. (Go to Piture Mode / Color / Brightness / Sharpness) Adjust the Energy Saving option in the TV menu. (Go to MENU - Setup - Eo Solution - Energy Saving) Try resetting the piture to view the default piture setting. (Go to MENU - Piture - Piture Reset) There is a dotted line on the edge of the sreen. If the piture size is set to Sreen Fit, hange it to 16:9. Change the able/satellite box resolution. The piture is blak and white. If you are using an AV omposite input, onnet the video able (yellow) to the Green jak of omponent input 1 on the TV. When hanging hannels, the piture freezes or is distorted or delayed. If onneted to a able box, please try to reset it. (Reonnet the AC ord and wait until the able box reboots. It may take up to 2 minutes) Set the output resolution of the able box to 18i or 72p. Sound Problem First of all, please perform the Sound Test to onfirm that your TV audio is properly operating. (Go to MENU - Support - Self Diagnosis - Sound Test) If the audio is OK, the sound problem may aused by the soure or signal. There is no sound or the sound is too low at maximum volume. Please hek the volume of the devie (Cable/Sat Box, DVD, Blu-ray, et.) onneted to your TV. The piture is good but there is no sound. If you are using an external devie, hek the devie s audio output option (ex. you may need to hange your able box s audio option to HDMI when you have a HDMI onneted to your TV). Reboot the onneted devie by reonneting the devie s power able. The speakers are making an inappropriate noise. Chek the able onnetions. Make sure a video able is not onneted to an audio input. For Antenna or Cable onnetions, hek the signal information. A weak signal may ause sound distortion. Perform the Sound Test as explained above. No Piture, No Video The TV will not turn on. Make sure the AC power ord is seurely plugged into the wall outlet and the TV. Make sure the wall outlet is working. Try pressing the POWER button on the TV to make sure the problem is not the remote. If the TV turns on, refer to Remote ontrol does not work below. The TV turns off automatially. Ensure the Sleep Timer is set to Off in the Time menu. If your PC is onneted to the TV, hek your PC power settings. Make sure the AC power ord is plugged in seurely to the wall outlet and the TV. When you are wathing TV onneted to an antenna or able onnetion, the TV will turn off after 1-15 minutes if there is no signal. There is no piture/video. Chek the able onnetions. (Remove and reonnet all ables onneted to the TV and external devies). Set your external devie s (Cable/Sat Box, DVD, Blu-ray et) video outputs to math the onnetions to the TV input. For example, if an external devie s output is HDMI, it should be onneted to an HDMI input on the TV. Make sure your onneted devies are powered on. Be sure to selet the TV s orret soure by pressing the SOURCE button on the remote ontrol. Reboot the onneted devie by reonneting the devie s power able. RF(Cable/Antenna) Connetion The TV is not reeiving all hannels. Make sure the oaxial able is onneted seurely. Please try Auto Program to add available hannels to the hannel list. go to MENU - Channel - Auto Program then selet Auto and make sure the orret Cable TV signal type is set in the menu. There are 3 options. (STD, HRC and IRC) Verify the antenna is positioned orretly. No Caption on digital hannels. Chek the Caption Setup menu. Try hanging Caption Mode Servie1 to CC1. Some hannels may not have aption data. The piture is distorted: maroblok, error, small blok, dots, pixelization. Compression of video ontents may ause piture distortion. Espeially on fast moving pitures suh as sports and ation movies. A weak signal an ause piture distortion. This is not a TV problem. Others Purple/green rolling horizontal bars and buzzing noise from the TV speakers with Component able onnetion. Remove the left and right audio onnetions from the set-top-box. If the buzzing stops, this indiates that the set-top-box has a grounding issue. Replae the Component video ables with an HDMI onnetion. The piture will not display in full sreen. HD hannels will have blak bars on either side of the sreen when displaying up saled SD (4:3) ontents. Blak bars on the Top & Bottom will be shown on movies that have aspet ratios different from your TV. Adjust the piture size option on your external devie or hange the TV to full sreen. The remote ontrol does not work. Replae the remote ontrol batteries with orret polarity (+/ ). Clean the transmission window loated on the top of the remote ontrol. Try pointing the remote diretly at the TV from 5~6 feet away. The able/set top box remote ontrol does not turn the TV on or off, or adjust the volume. Program the Cable/Set top box remote ontrol to operate the TV. Refer to the Cable/Set top box user manual for the SAMSUNG TV ode. A Mode Not Supported message appears. Chek the supported resolution of the TV and adjust the external devie s output resolution aordingly. Refer to resolution settings in this manual. Caption on the TV menu is greyed out. You annot selet Caption in the TV menu when wathing ontent from a devie onneted via HDMI or Component. Caption must be ativated on the external devie. There is a plasti smell from the TV. Channel Menu Memorizing Channels If you are not using a able box or satellite box, when you first set up your TV using Plug & Play, the TV memorized the hannels that were available over the air or through your able system and added them to the Channel List. The Antenna and Auto program funtions desribed below let you re-run the hannel memorization funtion without having to re-run the Plug & Play proedure. Antenna (Swith to Cable / Swith to Air t) Before your television an memorize the available hannels, you must selet your TV's signal soure, Air (using an antenna) or Cable. Selet Menu > Channel > Antenna > Air or Cable. After you have seleted the signal soure, go on to the Auto Program funtion. Seleting the signal soure using the Antenna funtion also determines the signal soure the TV is tuned to. For example, if you reeive your TV signal over the air, and you selet Cable, you will see only snow. You must selet Air to see a piture. Auto Program The Auto Program funtion memorizes all hannels that are available over the air or through your able system and adds them to the Channel List. If your TV is onneted to a able box or satellite box, you do not need to run Auto Program. You will use the tuner in the box, not the tuner in the TV, to selet hannels. The Timer Viewing Info sreen appears. 4. Selet Change Info and press the ENTERE button to hange information, or selet Close and press the ENTERE button to lose the Information sreen. Selet All / Deselet All: You an selet or deselet all hannels in the hannel list. Other Channel Menu Funtions Channel Mode Lets you selet the hannel list displayed when you press the <CH> (Channel) button on your remote. For example, if you selet Favorite Channels, you will only see Favorite hannels when you press the <CH> button. Fine Tune Analog hannels only. If the reeption is lear, you do not have to fine tune the hannel, as this is done automatially during the searh and store operation. If the signal is weak or distorted, fine tune the hannel manually. Selet the hannel, and then selet Fine Tune. Fine tuned hannels that have been saved are marked with an asterisk * on the right-hand side of the hannel number in the hannel banner. To reset fine-tuning, selet the hannel, selet Fine Tune, and then selet Reset on the Fine Tune sreen. Setup Menu Plug & Play Lets you re-run the Plug & Play initial setup proedure. Language Set the menu language. Choose between English, Español, and Français. Setting the Time Time The time you set will appear when you press the INFO button. Clok: Set the lok so you an use the various timer features of the TV. If you disonnet the power ord, you have to set the lok again. To set the lok, follow these steps: 1. Selet Setup >Time > Clok. 2. Press ENTERE and selet Auto or Manual, and then press ENTERE again. If you seleted Auto: The TV will automatially download the orret time from a digital hannel. Selet Time Zone, and then press the ENTERE button. Use the buttons to selet your Time Zone, and then press ENTERE. Selet DST (Daylight Savings Time), and then press ENTERE. Selet On if you want to turn the DST adjustment on and off manually. Selet Off to turn off the DST adjustment. Selet Auto if you want the TV to adjust to DST automatially. Press ENTERE when done. DST and Time Zone funtion are only available when the Clok Mode is set to Auto. If you seleted Manual: The Clok Set sreen appears. Use the buttons to hange the values in eah field or use the number buttons to enter the values diretly. Use the buttons to move from field to field. When done with all the fields, press ENTERE. Available only when Clok Mode is set to Manual. Sleep Timer t Automatially shuts off the TV after a preset period of time. (3, 6, 9, 12, 15 and 18 minutes). To anel the Sleep Timer, selet Off. Timer 1 / Timer 2 / Timer 3 Turns the TV on and off automatially at times and days you selet. You an set three different on/off timer settings. You must set the lok first. On Time / Off Time: Set the hour, minute, am/pm, and Ativate/ Inativate fields for On Time and Off Time. Use the buttons to move from field to field. Use the buttons to hange the values in eah field. To ativate the timer with the setting you have hosen, set the Ativate/Inativate field to Ativate. Volume: Set the desired loudness. Contents: To selet what will be turned on when the timer setting is ativated. You an set the TV to turn on a speifi hannel or play bak ontents suh as photo or audio files. Use the buttons to move to the Contents field, and then press the ENTERE button. The Contents sreen appears. Use the buttons to move from field to field. Use the buttons to hange the values in eah field. - TV/USB: Selet TV or USB. The USB devie must be onneted to your TV before you an selet USB. - Antenna: Displays the urrent antenna soure, Air or Cable. - Channel: If you have seleted TV, selet the desired hannel. - Musi/Photo: If you have seleted USB, follow these steps to selet a folder ontaining MP3 (Musi) or JPEG (Photo) files on the USB devie: The maximum number of files the TV an display, inluding sub folders, in one folder of a USB storage devie is 2. The media may not play smoothly if you use a USB devie rated lower than USB Use the buttons to move to the field under Musi or the field under Photo, and then press the ENTERE button. The TV displays a single folder (the Root folder) and the type or name of the devie. The On Sreen Menus Your TV has two kinds of menus, the Main menu and the various Tools menus. The Main menu gives you aess to most or all of the menu options available on your TV. The Tools menus display a seleted number of frequently used menu options that hange depending on the sreen you are viewing. A Tools menu symbol (T) in the lower right side of the sreen indiates that a Tools menu is available. The Main menu has seven primary ategories: Piture Sound Channel Setup Input Appliation Support To view the Main menu, press the MENU button on your remote. To view a Tools menu, press the TOOLS button on your remote. The menu options that appear in the Main menu depend on the Soure you have seleted. For example, if you have seleted the HDMI soure, the Channel ategory will not appear. To see the Channel ategory, you must first selet TV in the Soure List. The Menu options are presented below, arranged by Main menu ategories. A Tools button symbol (t) next to an option name indiates the option is also available in one of the Tools menus. Piture Menu Mode t Selet your preferred piture mode. When your TV is onneted to a PC, you an only selet Entertain and Standard. Dynami: Brightens the sreen. Suitable for a bright room. Standard: Suitable for a normal room brightness. Movie: Darkens the sreen, making it less glary. Suitable for wathing movies in a darkened room. Entertain: Sharpens the piture. Suitable for games. Only available when the TV is onneted to a PC. Samsung MagiAngle for 19", 22" models Adjust sreen viewing Angle to optimize sreen quality aording to your viewing position. Samsung MagiAngle: When viewing the sreen at an angle from below or above by setting the appropriate mode for eah position you an obtain a similar piture quality as viewing the sreen diretly from the front. Off: Selet when viewing from the front position. Lean Bak Mode: Selet when viewing from a slightly lower position. Standing Mode: Selet when viewing from the upper position. Mode: Adjust sreen viewing angle. When Samsung MagiAngle is set to Lean Bak Mode or Standing Mode, Gamma is not available. Baklight / Contrast / Brightness / Sharpness / Color / Tint (G/R) Baklight: Adjusts the brightness of the sreen by adjusting the brightness of the individual pixels. Contrast: Inreases or dereases the ontrast between dark and light areas of the piture. Brightness: Adjusts the brightness of the sreen. Not as effetive as Baklight. Sharpness: Sharpens or dulls the edges of objets. Color: Adjusts the olor saturation. The higher the Color setting, the more intense the olor. Low settings remove olor and the piture beomes blak, white, and gray. Tint: Adjusts the amount of green and red in the piture. As you inrease the amount of green, the amount of red dereases and vie versa. When the TV is onneted to a PC, you an only make hanges to Baklight, Contrast, Brightness, and Sharpness. Advaned Settings Available in Standard and Movie mode only. Compared to previous models, new Samsung TVs offer a more preise piture with more preise ontrols. When your TV is onneted to a PC, you an only make hanges to Gamma and White Balane. Dynami Contrast: Adjusts the sreen ontrast. Blak Tone: Selets the blak level to adjust the sreen depth. Darker settings make blaks look darker. Flesh Tone: Adjusts the amount of red in skin tones. Color Spae: Auto automatially mathes the range of olors (the variety and number of olors) available to reate pitures with the olor range of the video soure. Native provides a olor range wider than the olor range of the video soure. White Balane: Adjusts the olor temperature of the piture so that white objets look white (instead of, for example, slightly pink or slightly yellow) and the overall olor of the piture looks natural. R-Offset / G-Offset / B-Offset: Adjusts how dark eah olor (red, green, blue) is. R-Gain / G-Gain / B-Gain: Adjusts how bright eah olor (red, green, blue) is. Reset: Resets the White Balane to it s default settings. Gamma: Adjusts the primary olor intensity. Motion Lighting: When on, the TV automatially adjusts the brightness of the sreen in response to the brightness of the room. In bright light, the sreen brightens. In dim light, the sreen dims. Available in Standard mode only. Piture Options When the TV is onneted to a PC, you an only make hanges to the Color Tone, Size, and HDMI Blak Level. Color Tone: Cool makes the piture bluer (ooler). Warm 1 and Warm 2 make the piture redder (warmer). Warm1 and Warm2 are deativated when the piture mode is set to Dynami. Size: Set the size and aspet ratio of the piture on the sreen. Your able box or satellite reeiver may have its own set of sreen sizes as well. However, we highly reommend you use the TVs 16:9 mode most of the time. 16:9: Sets the piture to the 16:9 wide sreen format. Zoom1: Provides moderate magnifiation of the piture. Sides, top, and bottom are ut off. Zoom2: Provides larger magnifiation of the piture. Sides, top, and bottom are ut off. Wide Fit: Enlarges the aspet ratio of the piture so the piture fits the entire sreen. 4:3: Sets the piture to the old, 4:3 format and puts blak or gray borders on the right and left of the piture. Do not wath your TV in the 4:3 format for a long time. Traes of borders displayed on the left, right and enter of the sreen may ause image retention (sreen burn) whih is not overed by the warranty. Sreen Fit: Displays the full image without any ut-off when your TV is inputting HDMI (72p / 18i / 18p) or Component (18i / 18p) HD signals. HD (High Definition) has a 16:9 aspet ratio and 18i/18p (192x18) or 72p (128x72) resolution. 2. Press the ENTERE button. A list of folders on the devie appears. If there are no folders on your devie, press the Yellow (Selet) button to selet the Root folder, and then press the RETURN button. The Timer sreen re-appears. 3. Use the buttons to highlight a folder that ontains musi or photos, and then press the Yellow (Selet) button to selet the folder. 4. Press the RETURN button. The Timer sreen re-appears. Repeat: Selet One, Everyday, Mon~Fri, Mon~Sat, Sat~Sun or Manual. If you selet Manual, you an selet the days you want to ativate the timer by using the buttons to highlight the day, and then pressing the ENTERE button. To unselet a day, highlight it, and then press the ENTERE button. When you are finished making all your seletions on the Timer sreen, press either the ENTERE or RETURN button. Other Features Game Mode When you onnet a game onsole suh as a PlayStation or Xbox to your TV, you an enjoy a more realisti gaming experiene by turning on the Game Mode funtion. Preautions and limitations for game mode: Before you disonnet the game onsole and onnet another external devie, set Game Mode to Off in the setup menu. If you display the TV menu in Game Mode, the sreen shakes slightly. Game Mode is not available when the input soure is set to TV. After onneting the game onsole, set Game Mode to On. You may notie slightly redued piture quality. Program Rating Lok The Program Rating Lok feature lets you blok programs you've determined are inappropriate for your hildren based on the program's ratings. To aess the Program Rating Lok feature and make any hanges, you must enter a PIN (personal identifiation number). To wath a bloked program, you must also enter the same PIN. Program Rating Lok is not available in HDMI or Component mode. The default PIN number of a new TV set is ---. You an set your own PIN using the Change PIN funtion. How It Works When you aess the Program Rating Lok Menu funtions for the first time, the PIN input sreen appears. Enter ---. The PIN sreen loses and the Program Rating Lok Menu appears. Every time you aess the Program Rating Lok funtions, the PIN sreen will appear and you must enter a PIN. When the Program Rating Lok sreen appears, selet Program Rating Lok, and then press ENTERE. Selet On, and then press the ENTERE key again. Depending on what type of programs or movies you want to blok, selet one of the options on the sreen, and then press the ENTERE button. The options are listed below: TV Parental Guidelines: You an blok TV programs based on their ratings. This funtion allows you to ontrol what your hildren are wathing. MPAA Rating: You an blok movies based on their MPAA ratings. The Motion Piture Assoiation of Ameria (MPAA) has implemented a rating system that provides parents or guardians with advaned information on whih films are appropriate for hildren. Canadian English: You an blok TV programs based on their Anglophone Canadian ratings. Canadian Frenh: You an blok TV programs based on their Frenh Canadian ratings. Downloadable U.S. Rating: You an use parental restrition information while wathing DTV hannels. Loking/Bloking Programs or Movies You lok or blok programs and/or movies in essentially the same way for eah option. Eah option displays a grid or table. All the tables have ratings listed on the left. The TV Parental Guidelines option also has kinds of ontent listed aross the top: ALL: Lok all TV ratings. / FV: Fantasy violene / V: Violene / S: Sexual situation / L: Adult Language / D: Sexually Suggestive Dialog. To lok/blok movies or shows with ertain ratings and/or kinds of ontent, lik the square next to the rating and/or under the kind of ontent. A lok appears. To unlok/unblok, lik the square again. When you lik a low rating, all the ratings above it will also display loks. You an also Allow All or Lok All. When done, press the RETURN button on your remote. Change PIN: The Change PIN sreen will appear. Choose any 4 digits for your PIN and enter them in Enter New PIN fields. Re-enter the same 4 digits in Confirm New PIN fields. When the Change PIN sreen disappears, press the OK button. The TV has memorized your new PIN. If you forget the PIN, press the remote-ontrol buttons in the following sequene, whih resets the pin to --- : POWER (off) MUTE POWER (on) Caption (On-Sreen Text Dialogue) Caption: You an swith the aption funtion on or off. If aptions are not available, they will not be displayed on the sreen. The Caption feature does not work in Component or HDMI mode. Caption Mode: You an selet the desired aption mode. Default / CC1~CC4 / Text1~Text4: (analog hannels only) The Analog Caption funtion operates in either analog TV hannel mode or when a signal is supplied from an external devie to the TV. (Depending on the broadasting signal, the Analog Caption funtion may or may not work with digital hannels.) Default / Servie1~Servie6 / CC1~CC4 / Text1~Text4: (Digital hannels only) The Digital Captions funtion works with digital hannels. Servie1~6 may not be available in digital aption mode depending on the broadast. Digital Caption Options: (Digital hannels only) Size: Options inlude Default, Small, Standard and Large. The default is Standard. Font Style: Options inlude Default and Styles to 7. The default is Style. Foreground Color: Options inlude Default, White, Blak, Red, Green, Blue, Yellow, Magenta and Cyan. You an hange the olor of the letters. The default is White. Bakground Color: Options inlude Default, White, Blak, Red, Green, Blue, Yellow, Magenta and Cyan. You an hange the bakground olor of the aptions. The default is Blak. Foreground Opaity: This adjusts the opaity of text. Options inlude Default, Transparent, Transluent, Solid and Flashing. Bakground Opaity: This adjusts the opaity of the aption bakground. Options inlude Default, Transparent, Transluent, Solid and Flashing. Return to Default: This option sets eah Size, Font Style, Foreground Color, Bakground Color, Foreground Opaity and Bakground Opaity to its default. Digital Caption Options are available only when you an selet Default and Servie1 ~ Servie6 in Caption Mode. The Foreground and Bakground annot be set to the same olor. Melody Set so that a melody plays when the TV is turned on or off. The Melody does not play: When no sound is output from the TV beause the MUTE button has been pressed. When no sound is output from the TV beause the volume has been redued to minimum with the VOL button. When the TV is turned off by Sleep Timer funtion. Eo Solution Energy Saving : Lets you adjust the brightness of the TV to redue power onsumption. If you selet Piture Off, the sreen is turned off, but the sound remains on. Press any button exept the volume button to turn on the sreen. Eo Sensor for 5 series : To enhane your power savings, the piture settings automatially adapt to the light in the room. If you adjust the Baklight, the Eo Sensor will be set to Off. Min. Baklight: When Eo Sensor is On, the minimum sreen brightness an be adjusted manually. If Eo Sensor is On, the display brightness may hange (beome slightly darker in most ases) depending on the surrounding light intensity. No Signal Power Off: Sets how quikly the TV swithes to standby mode if no piture is being reeived. Disabled when an attahed PC is in power saving mode. Auto Power Off: The TV will automatially turn off when no user operation is deteted for 4 hours. Auto Protetion Time If a still image remains on the sreen for an amount of time you define, the sreen saver is ativated to prevent the formation of ghost images on the sreen. Support Menu Self Diagnosis Piture Test: Use to hek for piture problems. If the problem appears in the test piture, selet Yes and follow the diretions on the sreen. Sound Test: Use the built-in melody to hek for sound problems. If the problem ours during the test, selet Yes and follow the diretions on the sreen. Signal Strength: (Digital hannels only) An HD hannel s reeption quality is either perfet or the hannels are unavailable. Adjust your antenna to inrease signal strength. Reset: Reset all settings to the fatory defaults. The PIN input sreen appears before the setup sreen. Enter your 4-digit PIN. Change the PIN using the Change PIN option. Software Upgrade Software Upgrade an be performed by downloading the latest firmware from samsung.om to a USB memory devie. Wide sreen format LED Displays with aspet ratios of 16:9 (the ratio of the sreen width to sreen height) are primarily designed to display wide sreen format full-motion video. The images displayed on them should primarily be in the wide sreen 16:9 ratio format, or expanded to fill the sreen if your model offers this feature and the images are onstantly moving. Displaying stationary graphis and images on sreen, suh as the dark sidebars on non- expanded standard format television video and programming, should be limited to no more than 5% of the total television viewing per week.
