17 Preparing Setting Up Various Projetion Methods Warning A speial method of installation is required when suspending the projetor from a eiling (eiling mount). If it is not installed orretly, it ould fall ausing an aident and injury. If you use adhesives, lubriants, or oil on eiling mount fixing points to prevent srews from loosening, or if you use things suh as lubriants or oils on the projetor, the projetor ase may rak ausing it to fall from its eiling mount. This ould ause serious injury to anyone under the projetor and also damage the projetor. Do not setup the projetor on its side. This may ause malfuntions to our. Try not to setup the projetor in loations subjet to high humidity and dust, or in loations subjet to smoke from fires or tobao smoke. Attention Clean the air filter one every three months. Clean it more often if the environment is partiularly dusty. s p.81 Plaing on a table and so on and projeting Suspending from the eiling and projeting When projeting from a eiling, hange Projetion to a eiling setting. s Settings - Projetion p.62 Using lens shift With lens shift, you an adjust the projetion position up, down, left, and right. This allows you to make easy adjustments without distorting the image, even if you annot setup the projetor diretly in front of the sreen. 16

18 Preparing Adjusting the Projetion Size The size of the projetion inreases as the projetor is moved away from the sreen. Use the table below to setup the projetor at the optimum position from the sreen. The values given here are for your referene only. * Distane from the enter of the lens to the edge of the projeted image. 19 Preparing Conneting to Devies Attention Turn off the equipment you want to onnet before onneting. If the equipment is on when you onnet, it ould ause a malfuntion. Chek the shape of the able's onnetor and the shape of the port, and then onnet. If you fore a onnetor of a different shape into the port, it ould ause damage and a malfuntion to our. Conneting to Video Equipment To projet images from DVD players or VHS video and so on, onnet to the projetor using one of the following methods. When using an HDMI able Fix the HDMI able in plae using the HDMI able lamp. s p.19 When using a video able When using a omponent video able The able differs depending on the output signal from the onneted video equipment. Some types of video equipment are apable of outputting different types of signals. Chek the user's guide supplied with the video equipment to onfirm whih signals an be output. 18

20 Preparing Conneting to a Computer To projet images from a omputer, onnet the omputer using one of the following methods. When using a omputer able When using an HDMI able Fix the HDMI able in plae using the HDMI able lamp. s p.19 Conneting an HDMI Cable Clamp If the HDMI able is thik and hangs down, make sure you seure it to the able holder with an HDMI lamp so that the able's weight does not disonnet it from the port. If the able over is attahed, you do not need to attah a able lamp beause the able is seured by the over. 19

21 Preparing Conneting to External Devies Conneting to the Trigger out port You an onnet to external devies suh as eletri sreens with a 3.5 mm mini jak. When set to on, a signal (12 V DC) is output from this port to ommuniate the projetor's status (on or off) to onneted devies suh as eletri sreens. When using the Trigger out port, set the Trigger Out funtion. s Extended - Operation - Trigger Out p.64 Conneting WirelessHD devies (EH-TW9000W only) The projetor reeives transmissions from the WirelessHD Transmitter, and projets the images. s p.53 Change the projeted image by pressing the button on the remote ontrol or the button on the ontrol panel. When reeiving WirelessHD images, make sure WirelessHD is set to On. s Settings - WirelessHD p.62 You an hange whih devie is displayed by seleting a devie from Devie Connetions in HDMI Link. s HDMI Link-Devie Connetions p.52 20

22 Preparing Preparing the Remote Control Installing the Remote Control Batteries Attention Chek the positions of the (+) and (-) marks inside the battery holder to ensure the batteries are inserted the orret way. You annot use other batteries exept for the AA size manganese or alkaline. a Remove the battery over. While pushing the battery ompartment over ath, lift the over up. Reattah the battery over. Press the over until it liks into plae. b Replae the old batteries with new batteries. Chek the polarity of the batteries (+ and -) before installing. If delays in the responsiveness of the remote ontrol our or if it does not operate, it probably means that the batteries are beoming flat. When this happens, replae them with new batteries. Have two AA size manganese or alkaline batteries ready. 21

24 Basi Operations Starting and Ending Projetion Turning on the Projetor and Projeting a Connet the power able. Connet using the power able supplied. Turn the power on. Remote ontrol Control panel b Turn on the onneted devie, and then turn on the projetor's main power swith. The lens shutter opens, and projetion starts. When Diret Power On is set to On, you an start projeting by simply turning on the main power swith without having to press any buttons. s Extended - Operation - Diret Power On p.64 Warning Do not look into the lens during projetion. This projetor provides a Child Lok funtion to prevent hildren from aidentally turning the power on and a Control Panel Lok funtion to prevent aidental operations and so on. s Settings - Child Lok/Control Panel Lok p.62 When using at an altitude of 1500 m or more, set High Altitude Mode to On. s Extended - Operation - High Altitude Mode p.64 This projetor provides an Auto Setup funtion to automatially selet the optimum settings when the input signal for the onneted omputer image hanges. s Signal - Auto Setup p.59 23

25 Basi Operations If the Target Image is not Projeted If the image is not projeted, you an hange the soure using one of the following methods. Remote ontrol Control panel Press the button for the target port. Press the button and selet the target port. Press the button to onfirm the seletion. For video equipment, start playbak first and then hange the soure. If the olor looks unnatural when hanging to a Video or Component soure, hek that the port you have onneted to is the same as the Input Signal. s Extended - Input Signal - Video Signal/ Component p.64 Turning off the Power a Turn off the onneted equipment. Press the button again. b Press the button on the remote ontrol or the projetor's ontrol panel. Remote ontrol Control panel Projetion ends, and the lens shutter loses automatially. A onfirmation message is displayed. When Standby Confirmation is set to Off, you an turn off the projetor by pressing the button on the remote ontrol one. s Extended - Display - Standby Confirmation p.64 d Wait until ool-down is omplete. The operation indiator on the projetor's ontrol panel stops flashing. 24

26 Basi Operations e Turn off the main power swith. If the main power swith is not turned off, some eletriity is onsumed even if no operations are made. 25

27 Basi Operations Adjusting the Projetion Sreen Displaying the Test Pattern When adjusting the zoom/fous or the projetion position just after setting up the projetor, you an display a test pattern instead of onneting video equipment. Press the button on the remote ontrol to display the test pattern. You an adjust the display position and so on by using this test pattern. For EH-TW9000W/EH-TW9000, you an also selet patterns that display R (red), G (green), and B (blue) individually, as well as the pattern for adjusting the display position. You an use it as a pattern to perform olor adjustment when an image signal is being input. Press the button to lose the test pattern, or selet Exit. Fous Adjustment Turn the fous ring to adjust the fous. 26

28 Basi Operations Adjusting the Projetion Size (Zoom Adjustment) Turn the zoom ring to adjust the size of the projeted sreen. Adjusting the Projetor's Tilt If the projetion sreen is tilted (the left and right sides of the projetor are at different heights) when the projetor is setup on a table, adjust the front foot so that both sides are level with eah other. Adjusting the Position of the Projeted Image (Lens Shift) If the projetor annot be setup in front of the sreen, you an adjust the position of the image by using lens shift. Make adjustments using the lens shift dial. You an adjust the position up, down, left, and right within the range of the dotted line shown in the illustration on the right. The vertial (V) position (up and down) an be adjusted by up to 96% of the height of the sreen, while the horizontal (H) position (right and left) an be adjusted by up to 47% of the width of the sreen. To reset the image position to the enter, return the dial to the entral position. To loate the enter of the lens shift range, turn the lens shift dial until you hear it lik. 27

29 Basi Operations Caution When transporting the projetor, return the lens to the entral position. If you transport the projetor when the lens is shifted up, down, left, or right, the lens shift mehanism ould be damaged. If keystone distortion ours when projeting at an angle by using lens shift, you may not be able to orret the distortion ompletely. When using lens shift, setup the projetor so that it is parallel to the sreen, and then only use lens shift to adjust the position. Correting Keystone Distortion You an use the buttons on the ontrol panel to orret keystone distortion. Open the ontrol panel over at the side to operate the ontrol panel. s p.10 Press the or buttons to display the adjustment gauges. When the gauges are displayed, press the and buttons to perform vertial orretion. When the top or bottom is too wide The projeted sreen beomes smaller when orreting keystone distortion. Inrease the projetion distane to fit the projeted sreen to the sreen size. You an make keystone settings from the onfiguration menu. s Settings - Keystone p.62 You an make effetive orretions within a projetion angle of 30 top to bottom. For position adjustment, you an maintain the quality of the projeted image by performing orretion using lens shift. Use keystone when you annot make adjustments using lens shift. Hiding the Image Temporarily You an use this to temporarily hide the image on the sreen. Press the button to show or hide the image. For movies, beause the movie ontinues to play even when it is hidden, you annot return to the point at whih you hid the image. 28

30 Adjusting the Image Basi Settings for Image Seleting the Projetion Quality (Color Mode) You an obtain the optimum image quality to suit your surroundings when projeting. The brightness of the image varies depending on the mode seleted. a Press the button. You an make settings from the onfiguration menu. s Image - Color Mode p.57 b Selet Color Mode. Press the buttons from the displayed menu to selet Color Mode, and then press the button to onfirm the seletion. When projeting 2D images You an selet Dynami, Living Room, Natural, THX, and Cinema. 3D Dynami, 3D Cinema, and 3D THX are grayed out and annot be seleted. When projeting 3D images You an selet 3D Dynami, 3D Cinema, and 3D THX. Dynami, Living Room, Natural, THX, and Cinema are grayed out and annot be seleted. 29

31 Adjusting the Image Choies when projeting 2D images Dynami Mode Living Room Natural THX * Cinema Appliation Ideal for use in a bright room. This is the brightest mode, and reprodues shadow tones well. Ideal for use in a bright room. Images are lear and sharp. Ideal for use in a dark room. Ideal for wathing movies and onerts in a dark room. * THX may not be displayed depending on the model you are using. You an use one of the following three methods seleted from the onfiguration menu. The smaller the value, the lighter the dark portions of the image beome, but bright areas may appear disolored. The upper part of the gamma adjustment graph beomes rounded. When a large value is entered, bright parts of the image beome dark. The lower part of the gamma adjustment graph beomes rounded. The horizontal axis of the gamma adjustment graph shows the input signal level, and the vertial axis shows the output signal level. Press the button to return the adjustments to their default values. Adjust while viewing the image Make adjustments while viewing the image being projeted. a Move the gamma ion displayed on the image being projeted to the area for whih you want to adjust the brightness, and then press the button. b Use the buttons to adjust the brightness, and then press the button to onfirm the seletion. Adjusting the RGB (Offset/Gain) For the image's brightness, you an adjust the dark areas (Offset) and the bright areas (Gain) for R (red), G (green), and B (blue). The image beomes brighter when moved to the right (positive) and darker when moved to the left (negative). Offset Gain When the image is made brighter, shading for the darker setions is more vividly expressed. When the image is made darker, the image appears more full-bodied but shading for the darker setions is harder to distinguish. When the image is made brighter, the bright setions beome whiter and shading is lost. When the image is made darker, shading for the bright setions is more vividly expressed. The menu is displayed in the following order. Image - Advaned - RGB Use the use the buttons to selet the item, and then buttons to make the adjustments. Press the button to return the adjustments to their default values. 35

37 Adjusting the Image Abs. Color Temp. You an adjust the overall tint of the image. Make adjustments if the image is a little too blue or too red and so on. The menu is displayed in the following order. Image - Abs. Color Temp. Use the buttons to make adjustments. Blue tints grow stronger as the value is inreased, and red tints grow stronger as the value is redued. Press the button to return the adjustments to their default values. Skin Tone You an adjust the skin tone. Make adjustments if the skin tone is too red or too green and so on. The menu is displayed in the following order. Image - Skin Tone Use the buttons to make adjustments. The image beomes greener when set to the right (positive) and redder when set to the left (negative). 40 Adjusting the Image Super-resolution By inreasing the resolution of the image signal and projeting, blurring at the edges of the image is redued rendering a risper, learer image. Depending on the image, distortion at the edge of the image may be enhaned. When the mark to the left of the memory name turns green, saving is omplete. If you selet a memory name that has already been used, a message is displayed asking if you want to overwrite the data. If you selet Yes, the previous ontent is erased and the urrent settings are saved. The Save Memory sreen is displayed. 40

42 Adjusting the Image Loading a Memory a b Press the button, and then selet Load Memory. The Load Memory sreen is displayed. Selet the target memory name. The olor mode saved to the memory is displayed on the right. Depending on the input signal, part of the loaded memory item may not be applied to the projeted image. Memories saved for 2D images an only be loaded when projeting 2D images. Memories saved for 3D images an only be loaded when projeting 3D images. Erasing a Memory a b Press the button, and then selet Erase Memory. The Erase Memory sreen is displayed. Selet the target memory name. A onfirmation message is displayed. If you selet Yes, the ontent of the saved memory is erased. If you want to erase all of the saved memories, go to Reset - Reset Memory on the onfiguration menu. s p.66 Renaming a Memory You an rename eah memory name using up to 12 haraters. Giving the memory a name that is easy to remember is useful when loading the memory. a b Press the button, and then selet Rename Memory. The Rename Memory sreen is displayed. Selet the target memory name. The name list sreen is displayed. Selet a displayed name or Customized. To enter a name of your own, selet Customized, and then go to step 4. If you selet Customized, a keyboard is displayed. If you selet from the name list, hek that the memory name has been hanged. 41

44 Useful Funtions Enjoying 3D Images Wathing 3D Images When 3D data is reeived from the HDMI1, HDMI2, or WirelessHD (EH-TW9000W only) soure, the image is automatially projeted in 3D. The following 3D formats are supported. Frame Paking Side by Side Top and Bottom Using 3D Glasses Use the supplied or optional 3D Glasses (ELPGS01) to view 3D images. When you first remove your 3D Glasses from their pakaging, they may be proteted by protetive stikers and tape. Remove the protetive stikers and tape. a Hold down the [On] button for at least one seond to turn on the 3D Glasses. b Put on the 3D Glasses and enjoy the show. The indiator turns on for five seonds, and then turns off. When finished, press the [On] button for at least one seond to turn off the power. You need more pairs of optional 3D Glasses if more than one person will be viewing the 3D image. s p.85 Projeting 3D images a Connet a video devie apable of playing 3D images to the projetor. b Turn on the video devie and the projetor, and then press the button. If the 3D image is projeted automatially, you do not need to press any buttons. 43

45 Useful Funtions How a 3D image is pereived varies depending on the individual. The image is not displayed in 3D if 3D Display is set to Off. Aspet (set to Normal), Noise Redution (set to Off), Sharpness, Split Sreen, Oversan (set to Off), Super-resolution, Frame Interpolation (set to Off) How the 3D image is viewed may hange depending on the temperature of the surroundings and how long the lamp has been used. Refrain from using the projetor if the image is not projeted normally. 3D images may not be displayed orretly if they are being affeted by other infrared ommuniation devies. Converting 2D images to 3D and viewing You an onvert 2D images from HDMI1, HDMI2, or WirelessHD (EH-TW9000W only). a Press the button. Selet 2D-to-3D Conversion, and then press the button to onfirm the seletion. The onfiguration menu is displayed. b Selet Signal - 3D Setup, and then press the button to onfirm the seletion. If you have any problems, try pointing the remote ontrol diretly at the projetor. Viewing Area for 3D Images The projetor is equipped with an internal 3D emitter that synhronizes with your 3D Glasses to view 3D images. This allows you to view 3D images within the range shown in the figure below. Connet the optional External 3D IR emitter to the External 3D IR port on the rear of the projetor with a LAN able, and install it at the base of the sreen, near the enter. The viewing range for the optional External 3D IR emitter is 10 m. The 3D Glasses for this projetor utilize 3D Ative Shutter Eyewear Tehnology developed by the Panasoni Corporation and X6D Ltd. 45

47 Useful Funtions Warnings Regarding Viewing 3D Images Note the following important points when viewing 3D images. Warning Do not disassemble or remodel the 3D Glasses. This ould ause a fire to our or the images to appear abnormal when viewing, ausing you to feel unwell. Do not install the lithium oin batteries with their polarities (plus and minus) inversed. If the batteries are inversed by mistake, they ould explode or leak, ausing a fire, injury, or damage the surroundings. Follow the instrutions to install the batteries orretly. Do not leave the batteries or the supplied nose pad within reah of hildren. They ould be aidentally swallowed. If anything is aidentally swallowed, ontat a dotor immediately. Caution About the 3D Glasses Do not drop or press too forefully on the 3D Glasses. If the glass setions and so on are broken, an injury ould our. Store the glasses in the soft glasses ase supplied. Be areful of the edges of the frame when wearing the 3D Glasses. If it pokes your eye and so on, an injury ould our. Do not plae your finger in any of the moving setions (suh as the hinges) of the 3D Glasses. Otherwise an injury ould our. Caution About Wearing 3D Glasses Make sure you wear the 3D Glasses orretly. Do not wear the 3D Glasses upside down. If the image is not displayed orretly into the right and left eyes, it ould ause you to feel unwell. Do not wear the glasses unless you are viewing a 3D image. How a 3D image is pereived varies depending on the individual. Stop using the 3D funtion if you feel strange or annot see in 3D. Continuing to view the 3D images ould ause you to feel unwell. Stop wearing the 3D Glasses immediately if they seem abnormal or a malfuntion ours. Continuing to wear the 3D Glasses ould ause an injury or ause you to feel unwell. Stop wearing the 3D Glasses if your ears, nose, or temples beome red, painful, or ithy. Continuing to wear the 3D Glasses ould ause you to feel unwell. Stop wearing the 3D Glasses if your skin feels unusual when wearing the glasses. In some very rare ases the paint or materials used in the 3D Glasses ould ause an allergi reation. Caution Viewing Time When viewing 3D images, always take periodi breaks during extended viewing. Long periods of viewing 3D images may ause eye fatigue. The amount of time and frequeny of suh breaks varies from person to person. If your eyes still feel tired or unomfortable even after taking a break from viewing, stop viewing immediately. 46

48 Useful Funtions Caution Wathing 3D Images If your eyes feel fatigued or unomfortable when viewing 3D images, stop viewing immediately. Continuing to view the 3D images ould ause you to feel unwell. When viewing 3D images be sure to always wear 3D Glasses. Do not attempt to view 3D images without 3D Glasses. Doing so ould ause you to feel unwell. Do not plae any breakable or fragile objets around you when using 3D Glasses. 3D images may ause you to move your body involuntarily, resulting in damage to nearby items or personal injury. Only wear 3D Glasses when viewing 3D images. Do not move around while wearing 3D Glasses. Your vision may appear darker than normal, ausing you to fall or injure yourself. Try to stay as level with the viewing sreen as possible when viewing 3D images. Viewing 3D images at an angle redues the 3D effet and may ause you to feel unwell due to unintended olor hanges. If using 3D Glasses in a room with fluoresent or LED lighting, you may see flashing or flikering throughout the room. If this should our, redue the lighting until the flikering goes away or turn off the lights ompletely when viewing 3D images. In some very rare ases, this flikering ould trigger seizures or fainting for some individuals. If you begin to feel unomfortable or unwell at any time when viewing 3D images, stop immediately. Stay at least three times the height of the sreen away from the sreen when viewing 3D images. The reommended viewing distane for an 80-inh sreen is at least 3 meters, and at least 3.6 meters for a 100-inh sreen. Sitting or standing any loser than the reommended viewing distane may result in eye fatigue. Caution Health Risks You should not use 3D Glasses if you are sensitive to light, have a heart ondition, or are unwell. Doing so ould aggravate your pre-existing onditions. Caution Reommended Age of Use The minimum reommended age to view 3D images is six years old. Children under the age of six are still developing and viewing 3D images may ause ompliations. Consult your dotor if you have any onerns. Children viewing 3D images through 3D Glasses should always be aompanied by an adult. It is often diffiult to tell when a hild is feeling tired or unomfortable, whih ould result in them feeling suddenly unwell. Always hek with your hild to ensure that they are not experiening any eye fatigue during viewing. 47

49 Useful Funtions Caution Lithium Coin Batteries Only CR2032 lithium oin batteries an be used by this devie. Do not attempt to use any other type of batteries. If the batteries are inversed by mistake, they ould explode or leak, ausing a fire, injury, or damaging the surroundings. Do not put batteries in a flame or heat them up in any way. Doing so ould result in an explosion. 48

Also, when projeting images in WirelessHD, you an use the HDMI link funtion (EH- TW9000W only). As long as the AV devie meets the HDMI CEC standards, you an use the HDMI link funtion even if the AV system in-between does not meet the HDMI CEC standards. Changes the input soure of the projetor to HDMI when ontent is played bak on the onneted devie. You an perform operations suh as Play, Stop, Fast Forward, Rewind, Next Chapter, Previous Chapter, and Pause from the remote ontrol for the projetor. To use the HDMI Link funtion, you must onfigure the onneted devie. See the doumentation supplied with the onneted devie for more information. 54 Useful Funtions Conneting with WirelessHD (EH-TW9000W Only) Installing and Conneting the WirelessHD Transmitter You an use the inluded WirelessHD Transmitter to wirelessly reeive image data as well as ontrol signals. This eliminates the need to onnet any ables to the projetor, whih is onvenient when you are unable to plae the projetor near your AV devies. Connet the Transmitter to the HDMI output of any AV devie or AV System apable of HDMI playbak. Projetor Transmitter Player The reeiver is loated at the base of the intake vent of the projetor and therefore annot reeive any signals diretly from the rear. The values given here are for your referene only. The projetor annot ommuniate through walls. Illumination On, Off Set this to Off if the light from the indiators on the ontrol panel bother you when wathing a movie in a dark room. Remedy Depending on the omputer's speifiations, moving images may not be displayed when the omputer is set to external output and to the LCD monitor output at the same time. Remedy If the projetor is suddenly taken from a old environment to a warm environment, or if sudden ambient temperature hanges our, ondensation may form on the surfae of the lens, and this may ause the images to appear fuzzy. Set the projetor up in the room about one hour before it is used. If the projetor is wet from ondensation, turn off the projetor, disonnet the power able, and leave it for a while. When this happens, replae the lamp with a new lamp. s p.82 Projetion stops automatially Chek Is Sleep Mode enabled? Remedy If no image signal is being input and no operations are made for approximately 30 minutes, the lamp turns off automatially, and the projetor enters standby status. The projetor returns from standby status when you press the button on the remote ontrol or the button on the ontrol panel. If you do not want to use Sleep Mode, hange the setting to Off. s Extended - Operation - Sleep Mode p.64 74

76 Troubleshooting Problems when projetion starts The projetor does not turn on Chek Remedy Is the power turned on? Press the button on the remote ontrol or the button on the ontrol panel. Is Child Lok set to On? Is Control Panel Lok set to On? Are the indiators swithed off? Do the indiators turn on and off when the power able is touhed? Problems with the remote ontrol When Child Lok is set to On from the onfiguration menu, hold down the button on the ontrol panel for approximately three seonds, or perform operations from the remote ontrol. s Settings - Lok Setting - Child Lok p.62 If Control Panel Lok is set to On from the onfiguration menu, all of the ontrol panel buttons exept for are disabled. Perform operations from the remote ontrol. s Settings - Lok Setting - Control Panel Lok p.62 Disonnet and then reonnet the projetor's power able. Chek that power is being supplied. Turn off the projetor, and then disonnet and reonnet the projetor's power able. If the problem ontinues, stop using the projetor, remove the power plug from the eletrial outlet, and ontat your loal dealer or the nearest projetor information enter. s Epson Projetor Contat List The remote ontrol does not respond Chek Is the remote ontrol light-emitting area pointing towards the remote reeiver on the projetor during operation? Is the remote ontrol too far from the projetor? Is diret sunlight or strong light from fluoresent lamps shining onto the remote reeiver? Are the batteries dead or have the batteries been inserted orretly? Remedy Point the remote ontrol towards the remote reeiver. Also, hek the operating range. s p.22 Chek the operating range. s p.22 Set the projetor up in a loation where strong light does not shine onto the remote reeiver. Make sure the batteries are inserted orretly or replae the batteries with new ones if neessary. s p.21 Problems with 3D Cannot projet orretly in 3D Chek Are the 3D Glasses turned on? Is the input image in 3D? Remedy Turn on the 3D Glasses. Also, hek that the insulation tape in the battery setion has been removed. Chek that the input image is 3D ompatible. 75

Remedy If 3D Display is set to Off from the onfiguration menu, the projetor does not automatially hange to 3D even when a 3D image is input. Press the button. s Signal - 3D Setup - 3D Display p.59 The projetor automatially selets the appropriate 3D format, but if the 3D image is not displayed orretly, use 3D Format from the onfiguration menu to selet another format. s Signal - 3D Setup - 3D Format p.59 Chek the range within whih the 3D Glasses an ommuniate with the 3D emitter, and view within that range. s p.45 Problems with HDMI HDMI Link does not funtion Chek Are you using a able that meets the HDMI standards? Does the onneted devie meet the HDMI CEC standards? Are the ables onneted orretly? Is the power for the amplifier or DVD reorder and so on turned on? Was a new devie onneted, or was the onnetion hanged? Remedy Operations are not possible with ables that do not meet the HDMI standards. If the onneted devie does not meet the HDMI CEC standards, it annot be operated even if it is onneted to the HDMI port. See the doumentation and so on supplied with the onneted devie for more information. Also, press the button, and then hek if the devie is available under Devie Connetions. s p.51 Chek that all the ables required to use HDMI Link are seurely onneted. s p.51 Put eah devie in standby status. See the doumentation and so on supplied with the onneted devie for more information. If the CEC funtion for a onneted devie needs to be set again, for example when a new devie is onneted or the onnetion is hanged, you may need to restart the devie. The devie name is not displayed under Devie Connetions Chek Does the onneted devie meet the HDMI CEC standards? Remedy If the onneted devie does not meet the HDMI CEC standards, it is not displayed. See the doumentation and so on supplied with the onneted devie for more information. Problems with WirelessHD (EH-TW9000W only) Cannot projet WirelessHD images Chek Does the able onneting the supplied WirelessHD Transmitter meet the HDMI standards? Remedy If the able does not meet the HDMI standards, operations are not possible. 76

78 Troubleshooting Chek Is WirelessHD set to Off? Are signals being reeived within the WirelessHD transmission range? Is the supplied WirelessHD Transmitter turned on? Is the Link indiator for the supplied WirelessHD Transmitter off? Are the indiators of the supplied WirelessHD Transmitter flashing alternately? Has dust olleted in the WirelessHD's vent? Remedy When WirelessHD is set to Off from the onfiguration menu, projetion is not possible for WirelessHD input signals. Set WirelessHD to On, and then press the button. s Settings - WirelessHD p.62 Chek the range within whih the WirelessHD's transeiver an ommuniate, and view within that range. s p.55 Chek the power lamp on the WirelessHD Transmitter. If there is no power being supplied, make sure the onnetor for the AC adapter is seurely onneted, and then turn on the power swith. The WirelessHD annot ommuniate with the projetor. Chek that the HDMI able from the AV devie is seurely onneted. Also, hek the range within whih the WirelessHD's transeiver an ommuniate, and setup within that range. A temperature warning has ourred. Operations are stopped if there is not enough ventilation, suh as when the devie is plaed on an audio rak, or if it is being used in a room with a high ambient temperature. Wait until it has ooled down, and then try again. The vent on the base of the projetor is the WirelessHD's vent. Communiation may not be possible if dust has olleted in the vent. Install the projetor so that dust does not ollet in the vent. Interferene or distortion appear in WirelessHD images Chek Are signals being reeived within the WirelessHD transmission range? Are there any obstrutions between the WirelessHD Transmitter and the projetor? Is the reeption too low? Remedy Chek the range within whih the WirelessHD's transeiver an ommuniate, and view within that range. s p.55 Beause WirelessHD ommuniates using a tight beamed eletromagneti wave, if there are any people or objets and so on obstruting the ommuniation path, this ould have an adverse affet on the image. Make sure that there are no obstales between the WirelessHD Transmitter and the projetor within the WirelessHD transmission range. s p.55 If the transmissions are not strong enough, ommuniation may be unstable. Chek Reeption as you set up the transmitter as it is sometimes possible to improve the strength of the transmission by moving the WirelessHD Transmitter or hanging its diretion. s Settings - WirelessHD - Reeption p.62 Transmission strength may differ depending on the surroundings, or they may be unstable. While heking Reeption, setup the transmitter in a loation where the number displayed remains steady. s Settings - WirelessHD - Reeption p.62 77

79 Maintenane Maintenane Cleaning the Parts You should lean the projetor if it beomes dirty or if the quality of projeted images starts to deteriorate. Warning Do not use sprays that ontain flammable gas to remove dirt and dust from the projetor's lens, air filter, and so on. The projetor may ath fire due to the high internal temperature of the lamp. Cleaning the air filter Clean the air filter if dust has aumulated on the air filter or when the following message is displayed. "The projetor is overheating. Make sure nothing is bloking the air vent, and lean or replae the air filter." Attention If dust ollets on the air filter, it an ause the internal temperature of the projetor to rise, and this an lead to problems with operation and shorten the optial engine's servie life. It is reommended that you lean the air filter at least one every three months. Clean them more often than this if using the projetor in a partiularly dusty environment. Do not rinse the air filter in water. Do not use detergents or solvents. Lightly brush the air filter to lean it. If it is brushed too strongly, dust will be ground into the air filter and annot be removed. a Press the button on the remote ontrol or the ontrol panel to turn off the power, turn off the main power swith, and then disonnet the power able. Remove the air filter. Grip the knob in the enter of the air filter and pull it straight out. b Remove the air filter over. Hook your finger into the tab on the air filter over, and remove it from the lens side. 78

80 Maintenane d Hold the air filter with the surfae faing down and tap it 4 or 5 times to remove the dust. f Install the air filter. Grip the air filter by the knob in the enter and insert it at an angle. Turn it over and tap the other side in the same way. g Install the air filter over. Seure the tab on the outside first, and then seure the tab on the lens side. Attention If the air filter is hit too hard, it may beome unusable due to deformities and raks. e Remove any dust remaining on the air filter by using a vauum leaner from the front side. Cleaning the main unit Clean the projetor's surfae by wiping it gently with a soft loth. If it is partiularly dirty, moisten the loth with water ontaining a small amount of neutral detergent, and then firmly wring the loth dry before using it to wipe the surfae. Attention Do not use volatile substanes suh as wax, alohol, or thinner to lean the projetor's surfae. The quality of the ase may hange or the paint may peel off. 79

81 Maintenane Cleaning the lens Use a ommerially available loth for leaning glasses to gently wipe off dirt from the lens. Manually open the lens shutter, and then wipe the lens inside. Attention Do not rub the lens with harsh materials or handle the lens too roughly as it an easily beome damaged. Cleaning the 3D Glasses Use the loth supplied to gently wipe off dirt from the lenses of the 3D Glasses. Attention Do not rub the lenses of the glasses with harsh materials or handle the lenses too roughly as they an easily beome damaged. Replaement Periods for Consumables Air filter replaement period If the message is displayed even though the air filter has been leaneds p.78 Lamp replaement period The following message is displayed when projetion starts "It is time to replae your lamp. Please ontat your Epson projetor reseller or visit to purhase." The projeted image gets darker or starts to deteriorate. The lamp replaement message is set to appear after 4000 H in order to maintain the initial brightness and quality of the projeted images. The message display time hanges depending on the usage situation, suh as the olor mode setting and so on. If you ontinue to use the lamp after the replaement period has passed, the possibility that the lamp may explode inreases. When the lamp replaement message appears, replae the lamp with a new one as soon as possible, even if it is still working. Depending on the harateristis of the lamp and the way it has been used, the lamp may beome darker or stop working before the lamp warning message appears. You should always have a spare lamp unit ready in ase it is needed. 80

Remove the old air filter. Grip the knob in the enter of the air filter and pull it straight out. 81

83 Maintenane Replaing the lamp Warning When replaing the lamp beause it has stopped illuminating, there is a possibility that the lamp may be broken. If replaing the lamp of a projetor that has been suspended from the eiling, you should always assume that the lamp is raked, and remove the lamp over with are. When you open the lamp over, small shards of glass ould fall out. If any shards of glass get into your eyes or mouth, ontat a dotor immediately. Caution Do not touh the lamp over immediately after turning off the projetor as it is still hot. Wait until the lamp has ooled down suffiiently before removing the lamp over. Otherwise, you ould get burnt. a Press the button on the remote ontrol or the ontrol panel to turn off the power, turn off the main power swith, and then disonnet the power able. d Loosen the lamp fixing srew. b Loosen the lamp over fixing srew. e Remove the old lamp. Grip the knob firmly and pull it straight out. Remove the lamp over. Slide the lamp over straight forward and remove it. f Install the new lamp. Make sure the lamp is faing the orret diretion and press it in. 82

84 Maintenane g Tighten the lamp fixing srew. i Tighten the lamp over fixing srew. h Install the lamp over. Slide the over bak into plae. Warning Do not disassemble or remodel the lamp. Caution Make sure you install the lamp and lamp over seurely. If they are not installed orretly, the power does not turn on. The lamp ontains merury. Dispose of used lamps in aordane with your loal laws and regulations on disposing of fluoresent tubing. Resetting lamp hours After replaing the lamp, make sure you reset the lamp hours. The projetor reords how long the lamp is turned on and a message and indiator notify you when it is time to replae the lamp. a Turn on the power. Selet Reset - Reset Lamp Hours. A reset onfirmation message is displayed. b Press the button. The onfiguration menu is displayed. 83
