14 Preparing Installing Projeted Image and Position of Projetor Install the projetor as follows. Installing in parallel with the sreen If the projetor is installed at an angle to the sreen, keystone distortion ours in the projeted image. Adjust the projetor s position so that it is installed in parallel with the sreen. If the projetor annot be installed in front of the sreen, you an adjust the position of the image by using lens shift. s p.28 Use keystone orretion when you annot make adjustments using lens shift. s p.30 Installing the projetor horizontally by adjusting the height of either side If the projetor is tilted, the projeted image is also tilted. Install the projetor horizontally so that both sides are at the same height. If the projetor annot be installed horizontally, you an adjust the projetor's tilt with the front foot. s p.28 13

15 Preparing Various Setting Methods Warning A speial method of installation is required when suspending the projetor from a eiling (eiling mount). If it is not installed orretly, it ould fall ausing an aident and injury. If you use adhesives, lubriants, or oil on the eiling mount fixing points to prevent srews from loosening, or if you use things suh as lubriants or oils on the projetor, the projetor ase may rak ausing it to fall from its eiling mount. This ould ause serious injury to anyone under the projetor and also damage the projetor. Do not install it on an unstable shelf or in a plae out of load range. Otherwise, it ould fall or topple ausing an aident and injury. When installing it in a high position suh as on a shelf, take measures against falling by using wires to ensure the safety in an emergeny, suh as an earthquake, and prevent aidents. If it is not installed orretly, it ould fall ausing an aident and injury. Do not blok the air intake vent and air exhaust vent of the projetor. Bloking its air intake vent and air exhaust vent may trap heat inside ausing fire. Attention Try not to setup the projetor in loations subjet to high humidity and dust, or in loations subjet to smoke from fires or tobao smoke. Do not use the projetor installed vertially. Doing so ould ause a malfuntion. Clean the air filter one every three months. Clean it more often if the environment is partiularly dusty. s p.102 If the projetor annot be installed in front of the sreen, you an adjust the position of the image by using lens shift. s p.28 Use keystone orretion when you annot make adjustments using lens shift. s p.30 Plaing on a table and projeting You an install the projetor on a table in your living room or on a low shelf to projet images. 14

16 Preparing Suspending from the eiling and projeting You an suspend the projetor from the eiling with the optional eiling mount to projet images. When projeting from a eiling, hange Projetion to a eiling setting. s Settings - Projetion p.79 Set Inverse Audio to On to use the built-in speaker when the projetor is suspended from a eiling. s Settings - Audio - Inverse Audio p.79 Projetion Distane and Lens Shift Maximum Values The size of the projetion inreases as the projetor is moved away from the sreen. Use the table below to setup the projetor at the optimum position from the sreen. The values given here are for your referene only. The maximum lens shift adjustment values are shown in the following table. 19 Preparing Conneting a Devie Attention Make able onnetions before onneting to a power outlet. When disonneting, turn off the projetor first, then remove the power ord, and then disonnet other ables. Chek the shape of the able's onnetor and the shape of the port, and then onnet. If you fore a onnetor of a different shape into the port, it ould ause damage and a malfuntion to our. EH-TW6600W omes with an terminal over allowing you to learly see the onnetor setion on the rear. Remove the terminal over before onneting any ables. s p.22 Conneting Video Equipment To projet images from DVD players or VHS video and so on, onnet to the projetor using one of the following methods. When using an HDMI able When using a video able When using a omponent video able The able differs depending on the output signal from the onneted video equipment. Some types of video equipment are apable of outputting different types of signals. Chek the user's guide supplied with the video equipment to onfirm whih signals an be output. You an also onnet your AV system to enjoy the audio from onneted equipment. 18

20 Preparing Conneting a Computer To projet images from a omputer, onnet the omputer using one of the following methods. When using a omputer able When using an HDMI able Conneting External Devies Conneting to the Trigger Out port To onnet external devies suh as motorized sreens, onnet a mini-jak stereo able (3.5 mm) to the Trigger Out port. When set to on, a signal (12 V DC) is output from this port to ommuniate the projetor's status (on or off) to onneted devies suh as eletri sreens. When using the Trigger Out port, set the Trigger Out funtion. s Settings - Operation - Trigger Out p.79 Conneting to the Audio Out port To onnet external devies suh as external speakers, onnet a ommerially available audio able. Do not onnet headphones. When the projetor is in standby status, no audio an be output. 19

21 Preparing Conneting smartphones or tablets You an onnet MHL ompatible smartphones or tablets. Use an MHL ompatible able to onnet the miro USB port of smartphones and tablets to the HDMI1 port on the projetor. You an also view video and listen to musi while harging a smartphone or tablet. Attention Make sure the onnetion able supports the MHL standards. During harging, the smartphone or tablet ould generate heat, ause a liquid leak, explode or generate other onditions that ould result in a fire. When a onnetion is made using an MHL-HDMI onversion adapter, it may not be possible to harge or ontrol the devie from the remote ontrol. Some devies use more power during video playbak than what is supplied and will therefore not enable harging during video playbak or other operations. When the projetor is in standby status or when a smartphone or tablet has no remaining battery level, it annot be harged. Conneting USB devies You an onnet USB devies suh as USB memories, and USB ompatible digital ameras. Using the USB able supplied with the USB devie, onnet the USB devie to the USB port (TypeA) on the projetor. When the USB devie is onneted, you an projet image files on the USB memory or digital amera as a slideshow. s p.70 When you have finished projeting, remove USB devies from the projetor. For devies with a power swith, make sure you turn them off before disonneting the USB devie. Attention If you use a USB hub, the onnetion may not operate orretly. Devies suh as digital ameras and USB devies should be onneted to the projetor diretly. Connet a digital amera using a USB able speified for use with the devie. Sine the USB able supplied with the 3D Glasses is exlusively for the 3D Glasses, it annot be used for onneting a digital amera or a USB devie. Use a USB able less than 3 m in length. If the able exeeds 3 m, slideshow may not funtion orretly. 20

22 Preparing Conneting WirelessHD devies (EH-TW6600W only) The projetor reeives transmissions from the WirelessHD Transmitter, and projets the images. s p.54 Change the projeted image by pressing the button on the remote ontrol or the button on the ontrol panel. When reeiving WirelessHD images, make sure WirelessHD is set to On. s Settings - WirelessHD p.79 You an hange whih devie is displayed by seleting a devie from Devie Connetions in HDMI Link. s HDMI Link-Devie Connetions p.69 Conneting smartphones or tablets (EH-TW6600W only) You an onnet MHL ompatible smartphones or tablets to the WirelessHD Transmitter. Use an MHL ompatible able to onnet the miro USB port of smartphones and tablets to the HDMI5 port on the WirelessHD Transmitter. You an operate smartphones or tablets from the projetor remote ontrol. You an also view video and listen to musi while harging a smartphone or tablet. Attention Make sure the onnetion able supports the MHL standards. 23 Preparing Attahing the Wireless LAN unit To use the wireless LAN funtion, attah an optional Wireless LAN unit (ELPAP07). Insert the Wireless LAN unit to the USB port (TypeA). To projet images via a wireless LAN, you need to download the following appliations. For more details, see the download page. Projeting omputer sreens by wireless Use EasyMP Network Projetion to projet omputer sreens via a network. EasyMP Network Projetion an be downloaded from the following Web site. Projeting images from a mobile terminal via a network When installing "Epson iprojetion" in a smartphone or tablet, you an projet data in the terminal by wireless. You an enjoy the images from a smartphone or tablet easily. "Epson iprojetion" an be downloaded free of harge from App Store or Google Play. A ommuniation fee for the onnetion to App Store or Google Play will be harged to ustomers. When not using the wireless LAN funtion with the Wireless LAN unit kept inserted, set Wireless LAN Power to Off. This an prevent unauthorized aess from outsiders. s p.85 When using Epson iprojetion or EasyMP Network Projetion in Quik, we reommend making seurity settings. s p.86 Removing the Terminal Cover The terminal over is attahed to the onnetor setion on the rear of EH-TW6600W. Remove this over when using a able to onnet a devie. There are gaps at the bottom of the terminal over that allows you to pull the over forward and lift it from the grooves at the top. When reattahing, first insert the protruding setions into the grooves at the top. 22

24 Preparing Preparing the Remote Control Installing the Remote Control Batteries Attention Chek the positions of the (+) and (-) marks inside the battery holder to ensure the batteries are inserted the orret way. You annot use other batteries exept for the AA size manganese or alkaline. a Remove the battery over. While pushing the battery ompartment over ath, lift the over up. Reattah the battery over. Press the over until it liks into plae. b Replae the old batteries with new batteries. Chek the polarity of the batteries (+) and (-) before installing. If delays in the responsiveness of the remote ontrol our or if it does not operate, it probably means that the batteries are beoming flat. When this happens, replae them with new batteries. Have two AA size manganese or alkaline batteries ready. 25 Basi Operations Starting and Ending Projetion Turning on the Projetor and Projeting a Connet the equipment to the projetor. e Turn on the projetor. Remote ontrol Control panel b Connet the power ord. Connet using the power ord supplied. Remove the lens ap. When Diret Power On is set to On, you an start projeting by simply onneting the power ord to the projetor without having to press any buttons. s Settings - Operation - Diret Power On p.79 d Turn on the onneted equipment. Warning Do not look into the lens during projetion. Caution Do not disonnet the power ord from the main projetor unit or the eletrial outlet during projetion. 28 Basi Operations Adjusting the Projeted Sreen Displaying the Test Pattern When adjusting the zoom/fous or the projetion position just after setting up the projetor, you an display a test pattern instead of onneting video equipment. Press the button on the remote ontrol to display the test pattern. You an adjust the display position and so on by using this test pattern. Press the button to end this test pattern display. Adjusting the Fous Turn the fous ring to adjust the fous. Adjusting the Projetion Size (Zoom Adjustment) Grip the knob and turn the zoom ring to adjust the size of the projeted sreen. 27

29 Basi Operations Adjusting the Projetor's Tilt If the projetion sreen is tilted (the left and right sides of the projetor are at different heights) when the projetor is setup on a table, adjust the front foot so that both sides are level with eah other. Adjusting the Position of the Projeted Image (Lens Shift) If the projetor annot be installed diretly in front of the sreen, you an adjust the position of the image by using lens shift. Making adjustments using the lens shift dial Turn the vertial and horizontal lens shift dials on the projetor to adjust the position of the projeted image. To loate the enter of the lens shift range, turn the lens shift dial until you hear it liks. 28

30 Basi Operations Attention When using vertial lens shift for adjusting the position of the image, adjust the image by moving it upward and then finish the adjustment. If you move the image downward and finish the adjustment, its position may lower slightly. Do not keep turning the lens shift dials without effet. One the projetion image is positioned all the way to one edge, turning the dial further may impair image quality. Sine images are unstable immediately after the projetor is turned on, before you make fous, zoom, or lens shift settings, we reommend waiting 30 minutes or more after starting to projet the images. The sharpest images will be ahieved when both of the vertial and horizontal lens shift dials are entered. You an move the image using lens shift within the following range. a b Center of the lens Projeted image with lens shift entered Caution Before transporting the projetor, make sure to adjust the lens position to the enter using the lens shift dials. If you transport the projetor when the lens is shifted up, down, left, or right, the lens shift mehanism ould be damaged. Also, attah the protetive pad that was attahed when you purhased it. When adjusting the projetion position using lens shift, you are reommended to install the projetor in parallel with the sreen. 29

31 Basi Operations Correting Keystone Distortion (H/V-Keystone) You an use the buttons on the ontrol panel to orret keystone distortion. You an maintain the quality of the projeted image by adjusting the projetion position using lens shift. Use keystone orretion when you annot make adjustments using lens shift. To use keystone orretion, rotate the lens shift dials to adjust the lens as shown below. - Horizontal position of lens: Center - Vertial position of lens: Top edge If the lens is not positioned orretly, the projeted image may be distorted. Press the buttons to display the V-Keystone/H-Keystone gauges. When the gauges are displayed, press the buttons to perform vertial orretion, and press the buttons to perform horizontal orretion. 32 Basi Operations Adjusting the Volume You an adjust the volume by using the buttons on the remote ontrol or the buttons on the projetor's ontrol panel. Remote ontrol Control panel You an also adjust the volume from the Configuration menu. s Settings - Audio p.79 Under normal onditions, you an adjust the volume of the projetor's built-in speaker. However, by onneting an AV system to the projetor and setting HDMI Link to On and Audio Out Devie to AV System, you an adjust the AV system's volume when projeting from HDMI1, HDMI2, and WirelessHD soures. s p.68 Caution Do not start at high volume. A sudden exessive volume may ause loss of hearing. Always lower the volume before powering off, so that you an power on and then gradually inrease the volume. Hiding the Image and Muting the Audio Temporarily You an use this to temporarily hide the image on the sreen and mute the audio. Press the button to show or hide the image. The audio is also muted or played. For movies, beause the movie ontinues to play even when it is hidden, you annot return to the point at whih you hid the image and muted the audio using the button. To mute or play only the audio, press the button. Under normal onditions, the audio of the projetor's built-in speaker will be muted or played. However, by onneting an AV system to the projetor and setting HDMI Link to On and Audio Out Devie to AV System, you an adjust the AV system's volume when projeting from HDMI1 and HDMI2. s p.68 31

The larger the value, the lighter the dark portions of the image beome, but bright areas may appear disolored. The upper part of the gamma adjustment graph beomes rounded. The smaller the value, the darker the bright portions of the image beome. The lower part of the gamma adjustment graph beomes rounded. The horizontal axis of the gamma adjustment graph shows the input signal level, and the vertial axis shows the output signal level. Press the button to return the adjustments to their default values. Adjust using the gamma adjustment graph Make the olor tone adjustments while viewing the projeted image. a Use the buttons to selet the part you want to adjust from the graph. b Use the buttons to adjust the brightness, and then press the button to onfirm the seletion. Adjusting the RGB (Offset/Gain) For the image's brightness, you an adjust the dark areas (Offset) and the bright areas (Gain) for R (red), G (green), and B (blue). The image beomes brighter when moved to the right (positive) and darker when moved to the left (negative). Offset Gain When the image is made brighter, shading for the darker setions is more vividly expressed. When the image is made darker, the image appears more full-bodied but shading for the darker setions is harder to distinguish. When the image is made brighter, the bright setions beome whiter and shading is lost. When the image is made darker, shading for the bright setions is more vividly expressed. The menu is displayed in the following order. Image - Advaned - RGB Use the buttons to selet the item, and then use the buttons to make the adjustments. 36

Make adjustments if the image is a little too blue or too red and so on. The menu is displayed in the following order. Image - Color Temp. Use the buttons to make adjustments. Blue tints grow stronger as the value is inreased, and red tints grow stronger as the value is redued. The Color Temp. setting varies with the Color Mode setting. Press the button to return the adjustments to their default values. Skin Tone You an adjust the skin tone. Make adjustments if the skin tone is too red or too green and so on. 40 Adjusting the Image Setting Auto Iris By automatially setting the luminane aording to the brightness of the displayed image, it lets you enjoy deep and rih images. You an selet the luminane adjustment traking for hanges in brightness in the displayed image from Normal to High Speed. (Depending on the image, you may hear the auto iris operating, but this is not a malfuntion.) a Press the button. Use the buttons to selet the item, and then press the button to onfirm the seletion. Super-resolution and Detail Enhanement Funtions These funtions improve a resolution by making fuzzy outlines lear and emphasizing the texture and material feel. Super-resolution Detail Enhanement When This setting sharpens blurred images, enhaning the apparent detail of the image by inreasing the resolution of the image signal. Depending on the image, distortion at the edge of the image may be enhaned. If you notie any distortion, set it to "0". This setting enhanes the ontrast in an image to reate the image with more emphati texture and material feel. Depending on the image, a highlight may be notieable at the border between olors. If it worries you, set a smaller value. the setting of Super-resolution is hanged, the value of Detail Enhanement will also be hanged. 39

Panel Alignment Adjusts the pixel olor shift of the LCD display. a Press the button. Set Panel Alignment to On. b The Configuration menu is displayed. If the mark on the left of the memory name is turned aqua, it means the memory has already been registered. When you selet a registered memory, a message is displayed asking you to onfirm that you want to overwrite the memory. The olor mode saved to the memory is displayed on the right. Depending on the input signal, part of the loaded memory item may not be applied to the projeted image. Memories saved for 2D images an only be loaded when projeting 2D images. Memories saved for 3D images an only be loaded when projeting 3D images. Deleting a Saved Memory a b Press the button, and then selet Erase Memory. The Erase Memory sreen is displayed. Selet the target memory name. A onfirmation message is displayed. If you selet Yes, the ontent of the saved memory is erased. If you want to erase all of the saved memories, go to Reset - Reset Memory on the Configuration menu. s p.87 Renaming a Memory You an rename eah memory name using up to 12 haraters. Giving the memory a name that is easy to remember is useful when loading the memory. a b Press the button, and then selet Rename Memory. The Rename Memory sreen is displayed. Selet the target memory name. The name list sreen is displayed. Selet a displayed name or Customized. To enter a name of your own, selet Customized, and then go to step 4. 47 Useful Funtions Enjoying 3D Images Setting 3D Images Set the soure to HDMI1, HDMI2, or WirelessHD (EH-TW6600W only) to view 3D images. The projetor supports following 3D formats. Frame Paking Side by Side Top and Bottom When the projetor detets a 3D format The projetor automatially projets a 3D image when deteting a 3D format. When the projetor annot detet a 3D format Some 3D TV broadasts may not ontain 3D format signals. If this happens, set the 3D format manually. Press the button to set the 3D format on the AV devie. When viewing 3D images with an AV amplifier onneted, use a 3D ompatible AV amplifier. For details on 3D format settings on the AV devie, see the doumentation supplied with the AV devie. When the 3D format has not been orretly set up, an image will not be orretly projeted as shown below. If the 3D image annot be viewed Chek the following if the 3D effet is not displayed orretly, even after setting the 3D formats. The synhronization timing for the 3D Glasses may have been inversed. Inverse the synhronization using Inverse 3D Glasses, and then try again. s Signal - 3D Setup - Inverse 3D Glasses p.77 The image is not displayed in 3D if 3D Display is set to Off. Press the button on the remote ontrol. s Signal - 3D Setup - 3D Display p.77 How a 3D image is pereived varies depending on the individual. When a 3D image is displayed, a warning about viewing 3D images is displayed. 48 Useful Funtions Using 3D Glasses Use the supplied or optional 3D Glasses (ELPGS03) to view 3D images. Depending on the model, 3D Glasses may not be supplied. The 3D Glasses ome with protetive stikers. Remove the protetive stikers before use. Charging the 3D Glasses The following harging methods are available, depending on the model of 3D Glasses being used. If you have a WirelessHD Transmitter, you an use it to harge the glasses. If you do not have a WirelessHD Transmitter, you an harge by using an optional USB Charging Adapter. You an also harge by onneting the 3D Glasses to the USB port (TypeA) on the rear of the projetor with the USB able (only when the projetor is turned on). Charging using the WirelessHD Transmitter Use the USB able to onnet the 3D Glasses to the WirelessHD Transmitter. onnet the USB Charging Adapter to an eletrial outlet. When a able is onneted to the HDMI5 port, the WirelessHD Transmitter annot harge 3D glasses. Charging using the USB Charging Adapter Use the USB able to onnet the 3D Glasses to the optional USB Charging Adapter, and then The approximate harging and usage times are as follows: Charging time Usage time 3 minutes Approx. 3 hours 50 minutes Approx. 40 hours Attention Only onnet to an eletrial outlet that uses the voltage displayed on the 3D Glasses. Pairing 3D Glasses To reate 3D images, the 3D Glasses need to be paired with the projetor. 47

49 Useful Funtions Press the [Pairing] button for a while on the 3D Glasses to start pairing. a Turn on the 3D Glasses by sliding the [Power] swith to On. The indiator turns on for several seonds, and then turns off. b Press and hold the button for three seonds. The inditor flashes green and red in turn. If pairing has been performed orretly, the indiator turns on for ten seonds and then turns off. For 3D Glasses that have not been used, pairing is performed when the 3D Glasses are turned on. You do not need to perform pairing if 3D images an already be viewed orretly. One pairing has been performed, you an view 3D images the next time the devies are turned on. You an perform pairing within a range of three meters from the projetor. While pairing is being performed, make sure you stay within a range of three meters from the projetor. Otherwise, pairing will fail. If synhronization annot be performed within 30 seonds, pairing is automatially aneled. When pairing is anelled, 3D images annot be viewed beause pairing fails. Wearing the 3D Glasses a Turn on the 3D Glasses by sliding the [Power] swith to On. The indiator turns on for several seonds, and then turns off. b Put on the 3D Glasses and enjoy the show. When you have finished using the 3D Glasses, turn them off by sliding the [Power] swith to Off. If the 3D Glasses are not used for at least 30 seonds, they turn off automatially. To turn the 3D Glasses bak on, slide the [Power] swith to Off, and then slide it bak to On. You need more pairs of optional 3D Glasses if more than one person will be viewing the 3D image. s p

Do not use these devies at the same time. The ommuniation method for 3D Glasses uses the same frequeny (2.4 GHz) as wireless LAN (IEEE802.11b/g) or mirowave ovens. Therefore, if these devies are used at the same time, radio wave interferene may our, the image may be interrupted, or ommuniation may not be possible. If you do need to use these devies at the same time, make sure there is enough distane between them and the projetor. The 3D Glasses for this projetor are Bluetooth ative shutter 3D glasses. 49

How a 3D image is pereived varies depending on the individual. Stop using the 3D funtion if you feel strange or annot see in 3D. Continuing to view the 3D images ould ause you to feel unwell. Stop wearing the 3D Glasses immediately if they seem abnormal or a malfuntion ours. Continuing to wear the 3D Glasses ould ause an injury or ause you to feel unwell. Stop wearing the 3D Glasses if your ears, nose, or temples beome red, painful, or ithy. Continuing to wear the 3D Glasses ould ause you to feel unwell. Stop wearing the 3D Glasses if your skin feels unusual when wearing the glasses. In some very rare ases the paint or materials used in the 3D Glasses ould ause an allergi reation. Caution Viewing Time When viewing 3D images, always take periodi breaks during extended viewing. Long periods of viewing 3D images may ause eye fatigue. The amount of time and frequeny of suh breaks varies from person to person. If your eyes still feel tired or unomfortable even after taking a break from viewing, stop viewing immediately. Caution Wathing 3D Images If your eyes feel fatigued or unomfortable when viewing 3D images, stop viewing immediately. Continuing to view the 3D images ould ause you to feel unwell. When viewing 3D images, be sure to always wear 3D Glasses. Do not attempt to view 3D images without 3D Glasses. Doing so ould ause you to feel unwell. Do not plae any breakable or fragile objets around you when using 3D Glasses. 3D images may ause you to move your body involuntarily, resulting in damage to nearby items or personal injury. Only wear 3D Glasses when viewing 3D images. Do not move around while wearing 3D Glasses. Your vision may appear darker than normal, ausing you to fall or injure yourself. Try to stay as level with the viewing sreen as possible when viewing 3D images. Viewing 3D images at an angle redues the 3D effet and may ause you to feel unwell due to unintended olor hanges. If using 3D Glasses in a room with fluoresent or LED lighting, you may see flashing or flikering throughout the room. If this should our, redue the lighting until the flikering goes away or turn off the lights ompletely when viewing 3D images. In some very rare ases, this flikering ould trigger seizures or fainting for some individuals. If you begin to feel unomfortable or unwell at any time when viewing 3D images, stop immediately. Stay at least three times the height of the sreen away from the sreen when viewing 3D images. The reommended viewing distane for an 80-inh sreen is at least 3 meters, and at least 3.6 meters for a 100-inh sreen. Sitting or standing any loser than the reommended viewing distane may result in eye fatigue. 51

Adjusting the synhronization after adjusting traking allows for more aurate adjustments. Position *2 *4 Adjusts the display position up, down, left, and right when a part of the image is missing so that the whole image is projeted. Deinterlaing Off, Video, Film/Auto (This an only be set when reeiving signal input from the Video port or when reeiving 480i, 576i, or 1080i signal input from the Component, HDMI1, or HDMI2 ports or from WirelessHD.) Converts the signal from interlaed (i) to progressive (p) using a method appropriate for the image signal. Off: This is ideal for dynami motion images. Video: This is ideal for viewing general video images. Film/Auto: Performs the optimal onversion for film, CG, or animation input signals. Motion Detetion 1 to 5 Sets the image motion speed from 1 (slow, for still images) to 5 (fast, for movies). (This an only be set when EPSON Super White is set to Off.) When set to Auto, the video level for the DVD input signal to the HDMI1 or HDMI2 port on the projetor is automatially deteted and set. If you experiene under or overexposure when set to Auto, set the video level of the projetor to math that of the DVD player's video level. Your DVD player may be set to Normal or Expand. Reset Yes, No Resets WirelessHD settings to their default settings. Note that even if you reset the projetor, the WirelessHD Transmitter settings are not reset. 83 Configuration Menu Funtion Menu/Settings Explanation Operation Diret Power On On, Off You an set up the projetor so that projetion starts as soon as the power ord is plugged in without any button operations. Note that when this is set to On, projetion starts if power is restored after a blakout or other power outage and the power ord is still plugged into the projetor. Sleep Mode Off, 5min., 10min., 20min. If the set time is exeeded and no signal is input, the projetor is automatially turned off and enters standby mode. When set to Off,the projetor never enters sleep mode. When in standby mode, press the button on the remote ontrol or the button on the ontrol panel to start projetion. Illumination On, Off Set this to Off if the light from the indiators on the ontrol panel bothers you when wathing a movie in a dark room. Trigger Out On, Off Set the Trigger Out funtion to ommuniate the projetor's power on status and so on to external devies. When set to Off, no voltage is output from the Trigger Out port. When set to On, voltage is output from the Trigger Out port when the projetor is on. If you hange this setting, the new setting will take effet the next time you turn the projetor on. High Altitude Mode On, Off Set this to On if you are using the projetor above an altitude of 1500 meters. 82

Warm-up in progress Cool-down in progress Projetion in progress Warm-up time is about 30 seonds. The power-off operation is disabled while the projetor is warming-up. All operations are disabled while the projetor is ooling-down. The projetor enters standby ondition when ool-down is omplete. If for any reason the power ord is disonneted during ool-down, wait until the lamp has ooled down suffiiently (about 10 minutes), reonnet the power ord, and then press the button on the remote ontrol, or the button on the ontrol panel. The projetor is operating normally. Under normal operating onditions, the o and m indiators are off. Remedy If projeting the image from outside of the orretable range, you may not be able to orret the keystone distortion ompletely. Install the projetor horizontally in front of the sreen as far as possible, and then adjust the projetion position using lens shift. s p.13 Images are fuzzy or out of fous Chek Remedy Has the fous been adjusted? If the projetor is suddenly taken from a old environment to a warm environment, or if sudden ambient temperature hanges our, ondensation may form on the surfae of the lens, and this may ause the images to appear fuzzy. Set the projetor up in the room about one hour before it is used. If the projetor is wet from ondensation, turn off the projetor, disonnet the power ord, and leave it for a while. If the projetor is projeting a 2D image, or if an error ours on the projetor that prevents the 3D image from being projeted, you annot view 3D images even if you are wearing the 3D Glasses. Chek that the input image is 3D ompatible. Sine most TV broadasts do not ontain a 3D format signal, 3D reeption must be set manually. If 3D Display is set to Off from the Configuration menu, the projetor does not automatially hange to 3D even when a 3D image is input. Press the button. s Signal - 3D Setup - 3D Display p.77 The projetor automatially selets the appropriate 3D format, but if the 3D image is not displayed orretly, use 3D Format from the Configuration menu to selet another format. s Signal - 3D Setup - 3D Format p.77 Chek the range within whih the 3D Glasses an ommuniate with the projetor, and view within that range. s p.49 See the User's Guide for the 3D Glasses to perform pairing. Remedy Operations are not possible with ables that do not meet the HDMI standards. If the onneted devie does not meet the HDMI CEC standards, it annot be operated even if it is onneted to the HDMI port. See the doumentation and so on supplied with the onneted devie for more information. Also, press the button, and then hek if the devie is available under Devie Connetions. s p.69 Chek that all the ables required to use HDMI Link are seurely onneted. s p.68 Put eah devie in standby status. See the doumentation and so on supplied with the onneted devie for more information. If you have onneted a speaker and so on, set the onneted devie to PCM output. If the CEC funtion for a onneted devie needs to be set again, for example when a new devie is onneted or the onnetion is hanged, you may need to restart the devie. Are the projetor and the WirelessHD Transmitter faing the orret way? Is "Soure: WirelessHD X"/"No Signal" displayed in the lower-left part of the sreen? Remedy When WirelessHD is set to Off from the Configuration menu, projetion is not possible for WirelessHD input signals. Set WirelessHD to On, and then press the button. s Settings - WirelessHD p.79 Chek the range within whih the WirelessHD's transeiver an ommuniate, and view within that range. s p.61 Chek the power lamp on the WirelessHD Transmitter. If there is no power being supplied, make sure the onnetor for the AC adapter is seurely onneted, and then turn on the power swith. No signal is output from the AV devie onneted to the WirelessHD Transmitter. Chek that the ables from the AV devie and the WirelessHD Transmitter are seurely onneted. When you last viewed the images that had been output to a monitor devie, suh as television, via the Output port, the images will be projeted on the same monitor devie as the last one the next time the projetor is turned on. To anel the setting, press the button (swith output) on the remote ontrol while pointing it at the WirelessHD Transmitter. s p.63 The WirelessHD annot ommuniate with the projetor. Chek the range within whih the WirelessHD's transeiver an ommuniate, and setup within that range. Has dust olleted in the WirelessHD Transmitter's vent? Communiation may not be possible if dust has olleted in the vent. Install the projetor so that dust does not ollet in the vent. Setup the projetor and the WirelessHD Transmitter so that they are faing eah other. Chek that the AV devie onneted with the HDMI port on the WirelessHD Transmitter is turned on. The input signal number displayed on the sreen is the same as the HDMI port number. In addition, unless HDMI Link is set to On, the onneted devie does not turn on. Set HDMI Link to On. s Settings - HDMI Link - HDMI Link p.79 WirelessHD audio is not output orretly. Chek Is audio output when the WirelessHD is onneted? Remedy When onneting a devie, suh as a sound bar, to the Optial Audio-Out port on the WirelessHD Transmitter to output audio from there, set Audio Out Devie to WirelessHD Transmitter. The onneted sound bar must be set to surround sound. To output audio from the projetor, set it to Projetor. s Settings - HDMI Link - Audio Out Devie p.79 Interferene, distortion, or interruption appear in WirelessHD Chek Are signals being reeived within the WirelessHD transmission range? Remedy Chek the range within whih the WirelessHD's transeiver an ommuniate, and view within that range. s p.61 99

101 Troubleshooting Chek Are there any obstrutions between the WirelessHD Transmitter and the projetor? Is the reeption too low? Remedy Beause WirelessHD ommuniates using a tight beamed eletromagneti wave, if there are any people or objets and so on obstruting the ommuniation path, this ould have an adverse affet on the image. Make sure that there are no obstales between the WirelessHD Transmitter and the projetor within the WirelessHD transmission range. s p.61 If the transmissions are not strong enough, ommuniation may be unstable. Chek Video Reeption as you set up the transmitter as it is sometimes possible to improve the strength of the transmission by moving the WirelessHD Transmitter or hanging its diretion. s Settings - WirelessHD - Video Reeption p.79 Transmission strength may differ depending on the surroundings, or they may be unstable. While heking Video Reeption, setup the transmitter in a loation where the number displayed remains steady. s Settings - WirelessHD - Video Reeption p.79 Problems with USB storage devies Slideshow does not start Chek Is the USB storage devie using a seurity funtion? Remedy You may not be able to use USB storage devies that inorporate seurity funtions. Other problems No audio, or the audio is too low Chek Remedy Is the audio able onneted orretly? Try disonneting the able from the Audio (L-R) port, and then reonneting. Is the volume too low? Adjust the volume so that you an hear the audio. s p.31 Is it onneted with an HDMI able? If no audio is output when onneting via an HDMI able, set the onneted equipment to PCM output. A network annot be onneted via a wireless LAN Chek Is the passphrase orret? Have you heked the Event ID? Remedy Be aware that the passphrase is ase-sensitive. If forgetting your passphrase, set a new one again. 103 Maintenane Maintenane Cleaning the Parts You should lean the projetor if it beomes dirty or if the quality of projeted images starts to deteriorate. Warning Do not use sprays that ontain flammable gas to remove dirt and dust from the projetor's lens, air filter, and so on. The projetor may ath fire due to the high internal temperature of the lamp. Cleaning the air filter Clean the air filter if dust has aumulated on the air filter or when the following message is displayed. "The projetor is overheating. Make sure nothing is bloking the air vent, and lean or replae the air filter." Attention If dust ollets on the air filter, it an ause the internal temperature of the projetor to rise, and this an lead to problems with operation and shorten the optial engine's servie life. It is reommended that you lean the air filter at least one every three months. Clean them more often than this if using the projetor in a partiularly dusty environment. Do not rinse the air filter in water. Do not use detergents or solvents. Lightly brush the air filter to lean it. If it is brushed too strongly, dust will be ground into the air filter and annot be removed. a Press the button on the remote ontrol or the ontrol panel to turn off the power, and then disonnet the power ord. Remove the air filter. Grip the knob in the enter of the air filter and pull it out. b Remove the air filter over. Hook your finger into the tab on the air filter over, and remove it downward. 102

104 Maintenane d Hold the air filter with the surfae faing down and tap it 4 or 5 times to remove the dust. f Install the air filter. Grip the air filter by the knob in the enter and insert it straight. Turn it over and tap the other side in the same way. Attention g Install the air filter over. Fasten the upper ath and then the lower one. If the air filter is hit too hard, it may beome unusable due to deformities and raks. e Remove any dust remaining on the air filter by using a vauum leaner from the front side. Cleaning the main unit Clean the projetor's surfae by wiping it gently with a soft loth. If it is partiularly dirty, moisten the loth with water ontaining a small amount of neutral detergent, and then firmly wring the loth dry before using it to wipe the surfae. Attention Do not use volatile substanes suh as wax, alohol, or thinner to lean the projetor's surfae. The quality of the ase may hange or the paint may peel off. 103

105 Maintenane Cleaning the lens Use a ommerially available loth for leaning glasses to gently wipe off dirt from the lens. Attention Do not rub the lens with harsh materials or handle the lens too roughly as it an easily beome damaged. Cleaning the 3D Glasses Use the loth to gently wipe off dirt from the lenses of the 3D Glasses. Attention Do not rub the lenses of the glasses with harsh materials or handle the lenses too roughly as they an easily beome damaged. When maintenane is neessary, disonnet the USB Charging Adapter from the eletrial outlet, and hek that all ables have been disonneted. The 3D glasses ontain rehargeable batteries. Observe loal regulations when you dispose of them. Replaement Periods for Consumables Air filter replaement period If the message is displayed even though the air filter has been leaned s p.102 Lamp replaement period The following message is displayed when projetion starts "It is time to replae your lamp. Please ontat your Epson projetor reseller or visit to purhase." The projeted image gets darker or starts to deteriorate. The lamp replaement message is set to appear after 3400H in order to maintain the initial brightness and quality of the projeted images. The message display time hanges depending on the usage situation, suh as the olor mode setting and so on. If you ontinue to use the lamp after the replaement period has passed, the possibility that the lamp may explode inreases. When the lamp replaement message appears, replae the lamp with a new one as soon as possible, even if it is still working. Depending on the harateristis of the lamp and the way it has been used, the lamp may beome darker or stop working before the lamp warning message appears. You should always have a spare lamp unit ready in ase it is needed. 104

107 Maintenane Replaing the lamp Warning When replaing the lamp beause it has stopped illuminating, there is a possibility that the lamp may be broken. If replaing the lamp of a projetor that has been suspended from the eiling, you should always assume that the lamp is raked, and remove the lamp over with are. When you open the lamp over, small shards of glass ould fall out. If any shards of glass get into your eyes or mouth, ontat a dotor immediately. Caution Do not touh the lamp over immediately after turning off the projetor as it is still hot. Wait until the lamp has ooled down suffiiently before removing the lamp over. Otherwise, you ould get burnt. We reommend the use of genuine EPSON option lamps. The use of non-genuine lamps may affet projetion quality and safety. Any damage or malfuntion aused by the use of non-genuine lamps may not be overed by Epson's warranty. a Press the button on the remote ontrol or the ontrol panel to turn off the power, and then disonnet the power ord. d Loosen the two lamp fixing srews. b Loosen the lamp over fixing srew. e Remove the old lamp. Grip the knob firmly and pull it straight out. Remove the lamp over. Slide the lamp over straight forward and remove it. 106

108 Maintenane f Install the new lamp. Make sure the lamp is faing the orret diretion and press it in. h Replae the lamp over. Slide the over bak into plae. g Tighten the two lamp fixing srews. i Tighten the lamp over fixing srew. Warning Do not disassemble or remodel the lamp. If a modified or disassembled lamp is installed in the projetor and used, it ould ause a fire, eletri shok, or an aident. Caution Make sure you install the lamp and lamp over seurely. If they are not installed orretly, the power does not turn on. The lamp ontains merury (Hg). Dispose of used lamps in aordane with your loal laws and regulations on disposing of fluoresent tubing. 107
