Not all other Smart Rooms on campus have that option. There are 14% more survey participants using Mac in the ITS-installed rooms than in other rooms. The increase of Mac usage could be due to the availability of dual-boot Mac Minis which provides more flexibility, allowing those who are more comfortable on one platform or the other to use the one they prefer.

13 12 What things would you change about the SMART classroom you listed above? AFLS Projector and screen can't be independently operated. Would like to project on white board and write on. AFLS 107E You cannot play music CDs in that classroom as the hard drive is turned on its side underneath the podium and thus will not play CDs. I did not get to play any of the music I normally do to my history classes in that room last semester or this semester. AFLS E108 Add Quicktime software AFRLS B108 AGRI 0115 AGRI115 ALFS B108 BEC 2269 BELL Bell 1108E Bell 203 BELL 2269 and BELL 2291 which have both the same facilities BELL 2273 BELL 2282 BELL 2282 Bell Engr 2286 carnall hall classroom CHEM 132 CHEM 132 CHEM 132 CHEM 144 CIED 318 ECPH0122, MHSR0143 eng 307 Sitting arrangement and design Changing from computer to av or document camera is not intuitive. Also, when previous users have used these other sources I find it difficult to get back to the computer. I know we were told in training how to do this but the instructions given either didn't work, or I didn't remember what I was to do - either way it resulted in some frustration for me. There is a white board but not a smart board. More open hours for student to access the computer lab. video capture ease of adding software The chalkboard in the front of the room behind the projector screens should be a whiteboard Room itself has difficult acoustics I am quite satisfied with the overhead projector available in both the classrooms I teach in in Bell. Needs more desktop space for books and notes. Document camera needs a support on either side for books and notebooks to be opened without sliding off. I can't figure out the annotation software. The projector MUST be on or the computer will not work at all. An instructor needs to be able to prepare for lecture without the students viewing the process. Adjustable height podium Equipment has not worked since the first week of class. Unacceptable. I would like to see it upgraded to newer systems. Nothing, lots of white board space below the screen is very important for the way I teach where I need boards to write on at the same time I'm displaying Power Point images. projector bulb low and hard to read the papers from overhead projector, clicker questions will freeze up the power point at times so am hesitant to use that technology as much now. Would like annotation software. A FAQ sheet when problems arise. I just need instruction in how to utilize the equipment Reliability ENGR 209 Add Dual Screens with the ability to show two different projections, such as Doc cam on one and Microsoft Office on the other. ENGR403 The projector flickers, and has for several weeks. Calls to correct this have not corrected the problem FACH 140 make system interface better/easier/faster in FACH 140 FDSC D2 Video recording quality can be improved.

And the lighting in the room casts a glare on the smart board. The USB port that was accessible from the podium did not work, but I was able to plug my device directly into the computer tower after I discovered that the top one wasn't working. Other than that, everything seemed to be in working condition. There wasn't a document reader/projector, which would be nice, but the overhead projector, connections to internet, "health" of the computer, etc were all reliable. The SMART board has to be repeatedly "reset" or "reoriented" in this classroom. The projector / board don't stay well aligned and you are trying to write 3 inches above or below where your marker is... Even if you reset at the beginning of class, it can get misaligned during the class. Ease and faculty control over taping classes using Echo or other software. Note that in this classroom, the SMART technology works very well! There are too many remotes, too much clutter on the instructor desk Podium is not ergonomic Screen is too small - room is packed with extra tables and chairs - previous room users DO NOT leave the room clean and reordered for the next instructor DVD did not work properly - USB connection not operable on console - previous instructor did not clean and arrange room Room is large and with no elevation of seating in the back, students in this part of the classroom cannot see but the top half of the screen. Slides all had to be adapted to only project in the part of the screen visible by the students in the back but videos and other materials could not be adapted. equipment seems to always be broken or "rigged" to work. I'd like some consistency mainly, I'd like to work with equipment that is working as it was deigned to! More open access for students in the computer lab. just upgrade equipment. It is over 10 years old We need clickers for all smart rooms a phone number of the techie person for each building taped onto the table / desk in each classroom. The touchscreen is not working as well as it should; it should probably be replaced. Otherwise, it was fine. Have a number to call for assistance--there was no indication of whom to call anywhere in the classroom. Not enough access with every other instructor wanting to use it. Reliable The equipment is not reliable. It broke months ago and is still not working (although its been rigged up to get through the semester). I had to leave out assignments because the equipment was not working. Was out of service for the last several weeks of the semester. It was embarrassing. Put in Mac computers HPER 318 Screen covers too much of the chalkboard; not enough margins to write on each side while using screen & projector JB Hunt 146 screen covers entire board making it impossible to use while if projecting something, lighting is terrible in this room JBHN It's all a bit mystifying to me and I am always nervous at the beginning of the term -- every classroom is different.

15 14 JBHT JBHT - large lecture hall, don't remember room number (it was last semester). Seats near 180 students. JBHT 144 JBHT 144 JBHT 144 JBHT 146 (nights only 6-9pm) JBHT 148 JBHT 148 JBHT 149 JBHT 149 JBHT 216 jbht 216, jbht 234 JBHT 220 JBHT 220/222 JBHT 228 JBHT 331 JBHT147 JBHunt 149 JBHunt 216 JBHUNT236 K214 I wish I could have two files open at one time on my screen only. That way I could view notes and the powerpoint at the same time. I hate having to take my notes on paper and I do not like lugging my laptop to class. The projector in this room was much better (regarding brightness), but the system would periodically overheat. I did not have a huge problem with it because the Smart Room support is awesome, and I knew to keep the door to the Smart System open (to let it cool), but it seems silly that we (myself and the techs) have to deal with it overheating. JBHT 144 is unreliable, sometimes the equipment works sometimes it doesn't. Also, the projector screen covers the marker board so it is tough to teach with PowerPoint s and notes. On the positive side, the tech staff are very helpful - they are the only way I've gotten through all the issues with this room. Need to have Instruction Reliability. It sometimes takes too long to fix things when they break. Also, a quick reference card on how to do things. simpler use with videos from USB flashes. Audio was consistently a problem in using flash-based videos in this classroom. sometimes the projectors was iffy, giving out, the podium changed display looks three times during the semester--consistency would be nice The screen covers the entire board. I cannot use the wipe board while the screen is down The user interface and password encoding is so bad that it NEVER worked for me. I just gave up and asked the College to find me another classroom. What I need is a projector and the room provides it. It overheats way too often and the projector won't work. I've taught a few times with a crash cart. improve the computer mouse (most have very short wires and can barely move) The user interface on the touch screen / control pad is not very intuitive. For example, you have to select "Projector is Off" to turn the projector on...it took me a while to figure this one out. Also, there does not seem to be a way to connect a laptop at the instructor station (I would unplug the VGA cable at the instructor machine and connect it to my laptop anytime I needed to use my laptop). Otherwise, the system here (and student machines) have worked fine. More reliable classroom recording not intuitive use of equipment, even though I consider myself a techie of sorts. easier lighting system coordinated with projector/screen Get rid of the old podiums, and allow me to disconnect temporarily from the internet for Ech0360 work. When I taught in this classroom in Fall '11, the equipment was antiquated, cumbersome, and regularly malfunctioning. newer version of Smart Notebook makes annotations easier when showing slides The audio in this room has gone in and out throughout the semester, and it is not clear where the inputs are for my Mac laptop. As a result, course content had to be sacrificed this semester since I had clips on my laptop but could not project them with sound onto the screen. My students were frustrated with the technology in this class, and I think it is in serious need of an overhaul. I would have the custodians clean the room. I use it at 8 in the morning and it is dirty and full of trash. The board is cleaned maybe once a week.

The screen covers the entire wipe board so I cannot use the board at all This room occasionally had problems with sound and I had no time to call for help. I believe other instructors changed something and didn't change it back because normally my next class period would have sound. Not reliable for a teacher who needs CD's to give an exam. I would install a Mac. I'd move the PC monitor to the right-hand side of the desk. Several of my students complained that the monitor obscured their view of the left-hand side of the whiteboard. Update software/check hardware for USB Better internet connection Fix the ceiling speakers (only one works) One of the speakers is blown in this room This is a very nice room actually. I don't know how to use all of the features, but the ones that are essential to my day to day teaching are fine. I don't know why it was deemed necessary for me to teach in a smart classroom last semester. All I needed was the right kind of marker so I could use the blackboard, and it was often hard to find such a marker. I teach out of a book (one of those paper objects with black marks in them) and I make sounds with my voice. The audio quality/speaker system often crackles and/or doesn't provide adequate sound coverage. That's a difficult upgrade, though... Remove Mac capabilities because of the problems it causes the overall system. Whoever teaches last in these rooms should make sure everything is lined up for those of us that teach at 7:30. I had continuous issues with this. add more markers since I use the white board a lot!!!!! The 4th floor of Old Main needs updating! Everything worked well in this room. Better lighting control. Automatic logoff and shutdown after 20 minutes idle. The audio (especially when I connect it to my ipad) is flaky. That said, I rarely use the integrated computer. Everything seems appropriate Projector image has lots of tiny white spots in it; less time from starting the system to using it There is a virus/worm/trojan horse on the hard drive. A remote to advance slides is imperative in this room and we do not have one. A set of instructions for troubleshooting when one of the pieces isnt working lack of remote to change slides is a detriment to public speaking The "blank" function did not work at all in this room. I could not hide the screen from the students when I needed to. My biggest issue was that other instructors "messed with" the computer, often turning equipment on or off unnecessarily or affecting the operations of programs on the PC,

17 16 KIMP 413 KIMP 414 KIMP, multiple rooms Kimp. 112 and Walker Hall 331 (I believe that's the number) KIMP105, MAIN MAIN Main - multiple MAIN 204 MAIN 204 MAIN 208 Main 319 which was a hassle. Document projector wasn't easy to use, seemingly not connected many days so I didn't even try, unfortunately. The projector and/or room lighting makes it difficult to see the screen. It was not clear at the beginning of the semester how to go back and forth between the document camera and the computer. It also wasn't clear how to use your own personal computer to project. Someone did finally help me out, but the set-up in that room is cumbersome. Equipment needs a single control panel for operating all devices. In one of the rooms, there are small dots of light that show up on the screen. They distract when we watch a movie. I'd get rid of the dots. Often the Projector is left on or the screen is not signed out on, which seem easy to fix. However, it often is impossible to get the projector off without spending class time to do so. Same setup for all smart rooms Add a computer; add instructions for changing sound volume If there is a 24-hour help line, I am unaware but I have been caught before with the technology not working and no one to turn to. Smart board everywhere in main Hard to see screen in the morning with the sun coming in...need opaque blinds. Posted instructions for using the MAC side. Since the machine is always set for PC, I don't have the time or skill to smoothly switch to the MAC side, which I would prefer to use. Hard to see screen in the morning with sun streaming in...need opaque blinds. Smart board Main 323 It would be helpful if the MAIN323 classroom had a microphone to connect my laptop to. main 325 This is a "sweet and low" room, I use my own computer. Simple right? Except the cables are a nightmare, poorly labeled, sometimes poorly assembled...i have needed someone to come resolve an issue 3 times this semester. MAIN 3XX It's all still a bit mystifying to me and I am always nervous at the beginning of the term -- every classroom is different. MAIN 417 provide a computer MAIN 417 MAIN 421 Main 423 MAIN 423 MAIN 424 ME 212 Mech Eng (first large classroom in front) MEEG 212 This past semester there was only a connection for my laptop to use the projector, but that's not always the most convenient arrangement. DVD -- I teach material with DVDs from Europe, Japan, China, and the USA... we have a SERIOUS problem with permissions Get rid of the podium style equipment and stick with the newer ones. I like the new system compared to the old podium style system. Again, the audio. This is a room with only a table, so there aren't a lot of bells and whistles. I found it impossible to adjust the volume of the audio system. Also, the projection is small. The projected image only fills up half of the drop down screen, which makes image heavy presentations difficult. The SmartBoard in ME212 does not work well with Windows 7. I worked perfectly with XP two years ago. The projector cannot no longer be turned off for it will disable the computer completely. There is a fan that makes it difficult to hear students when they ask questions Needs more desktop space for books and notes. Document camera needs a support on

18 17 MEEG 212 MEEG 212, BELL 2282 MHSR143 Not sure if I'm in a "smart" classroom or not, but my classroom has the features of a smart classroom. BELL 2286 PEA 318 peab 307 PEAH PEAH 127 PEAH 204 & 206 PEAH 206 PEAH 307 peah 307 (peabody hall) PEAH107 PEAH207 (peabody hall) PHYS 133 Plant science 9 either side for books and notebooks to be opened without sliding off. This one has dual screens, but again the ability to use them for different inputs would be useful. Provide a microphone at the podium at all times. The technology in the classroom seems to be older and does not always work as well as the newer equipment. This is frustrating when teaching a class and I have to wait for the technology to respond. Put the light switch to dim front lights and lower projection screen in the middle of the room instead of at the sides. Provide more room at the podium for laying out notes and other materials. Fix the computer. I arrived three different class periods to find the computer not working. On those days, I had to scramble to adjust. By the end of the semester, tech had simply taken out the little hard drive and put in a large tower. I was just so glad it finally worked consistently; too bad the fix didn't come until the final three weeks of classes. During the spring semester, approximately 5 class periods I could not log onto the computer. I would really like to be able to annotate, but this feature was extremely unreliable. It seems like changes are made to the equipment every other week. That's frustrating because It feels like I just get comfortable only to be caught off guard in front of students. I would just like some consistency. Check the computer. Toward the end of the semester, the computer would randomly begin shutting down, but the computer only did that three or four times. Training is needed. The one training that was held, was scheduled last minute. I would feel much more confident and positive with training. The software was changed midsemester and the computer was frequently off and required a key to access the power button. I finally gave up trying to use technology in this classroom. replace Promethean with Smartboard There have been days when the projection doesn t work, when the whole system would not turn on, when the sound doesn t work. and other days where it is all fine. I would like to be able to pull up things on the monitor that did not also project onto the screen (grades, for example, that the whole class should not see but that are relevant to student discussions) Provide additional USB connection ports the chalk boards are HORRIBLE. There should be at least one white board in the room. Also, there were many days when I could not log into the system because it was busy, and some days when the system simply would not turn on. I would like to be able to pull up things on the monitor that did not also project onto the screen. This room should only be used by people in the science department. It's unfortunate that we get pushed into rooms that don't complement our teaching necessities. I received help from the building tech. support but there is only one man and he is not always there. Projector goes out of wack. And the setup is awful, if using the screen you can't use the board. Funnel design of classroom makes it hard for students to see board at all if screen

What things would you change about the Smart Classroom you listed above? Replace equipment by Walton College standard Frankly, not sure what "Smart" means -- my classrooms have internet access and PowerPoint projectors, don't know if that makes them "smart" better document cameras, make sure a PC is in the room (I don't want to bring in my laptop), duplicate the configuration in BELL I would make it reliable. I don't use it because I don't trust it to work 100% of the time. It's too much work to prepare material only to have it inaccessible. the mac side doesn't work, and sometimes it takes forever for the system to wake up Whole system is worthless- The "ladybug" doc com is jammed in too small a space making it difficult to focus quickly on almost any object. Need more space. I also wish - in all newish smart rooms - that we could operate more than one thing at a time, i.e., I could play music on the DVD player on the PC AND use the doc cam to project the class outline simultaneously. I've adapted, so if - on balance - it's better for all, I can live with it. :) Make it much clearer where the button to turn the computer back on is. Someone who used it before me kept turning it off, & it took until the end of the semester before someone showed me exactly where it is. It doesn't even feel like a button, which is why I still couldn't find it after someone told me there was a button there. Pens for writing on computer screen are unwieldy and unreliable. When using the clicker technology it loses information, because one of the USB drives loses connection. One of the tv for projecting to the back of the class does not work. It would be nice to have a board that can be used while projecting. The only aspect of the user interface I find unintuitive is how to raise and lower the desk which holds the equipment. Please make it where other teachers cannot make changes to the software. I used the sound on the computer to play clips and songs during every class, and there were many occasions when the sound was turned off and was set to where I could not turn it back on. It was difficult to teach with a partial smart room, having to bring a laptop everytime, an extender cable (because the hookup was so short), an adapter for a mac, and speakers to play audio. Not very user friendly Post additional instructions for use of the equipment. for example how to control volume, so that people do not resort to their own methods, such as unplugging cables. The projector needs to be more reliable. The speakers are blown in the front of the classroom and sound isn't reliable in this classroom. Pens for writing on computer screen are unwieldy and unreliable. SCEN 407 allowed one side of the white board to remain free to write on when the screen was down for the Power Point. It is very important to be able to simultaneously use both. I would replace the unit so that the turn on switch is not this little button in the back of

Nothing to do with the "smart" side. The light switch is way down at the bottom of the auditorium. Occasionally when we've come in the light has been off so you have to nearly kill yourself in pitch black to get down to the bottom to turn on the light. I have to bring my own PPT remote -- checked out from WCOB; I really don't know what you mean by "smart" classroom The projector is awful. It is not bright enough, given the lighting options for the room. My slides and photos look way to dark and it is very difficult for my students to see images. If I want them to be able to see images, I have to turn the lights completely off. Then I am toggling between lights off and the lowest light setting option. The lighting seems rather fixed in this classroom - there doesnt seem to be a way to highlight the white boards The audio equipment in my room was very unreliable this semester. Would frequently not work and had to use external speakers on several occasions. The speaker system in this classroom seems to be a little unreliable. The older systems in the other WCOB classrooms are much easier to operate and more reliable. There is way too much technology going on. We should just have Macs. remove the smart board; project directly on the white board This WCOB classrooms seem more user friendly and reliable. I especially like that every room has a phone in it to call the tech center if there are problems. I think all the rooms (especially JB Hunt) would benefit from having a phone (if you don't have your cell phone with you, you are in trouble if the technology isn't working). get rid of smart board. takes up valuable white board space and has to be calibrated everytime, not that efficient or valuable Again, audio quality... Multiple machines are WISE machines with no hard drive. This caused serious problems when they were all down during an ERP simulation in-class activity. Also, I give exams and quizzes in Blackboard (on five different occasions this semester). I only have enough computers for the number of students enrolled and, each time, there were 1-5 computers down, even when I requested service ahead of time to prevent this. The machines are just simply unreliable in this classroom. Use the same technology in each classroom or assign me consistently to a classroom having the same technology a book of step by step instructions on how to use features in every classroom centralized controls for equipment I would get rid of the Smart Board. better lighting, switches near podium Since multiple people use this room, it is always messed up. Turning off the lights usually requires that I flip through all the options before getting to the one that's right--it'd be easier if it were labeled more descriptively, instead of numbered. Would be nice if the up/down control for the projector screen was on the same side of the room as the teaching podium I prefer the layout of the Smart technologies in the WCOB rooms. this is an absolutely horrid room to teach in...terrible environment for students; worst room in our wjwh/wcob inventory

21 20 WLKR301 (Trading Center) WOCB 235 Touch Screen would be nice but not essential I like this class room Additional Comments: WJWH 403 WJWH WCOB 431 WCOB 339 WCOB 336 WCOB 250 WCOB 236 wcob WALK 124 SCEN 604 SCEN 407 SCEN 401 SCEN 201 SCEN 0613 SCEN I find the Smart technologies in the WCOB buildings to be integral to my teaching. I like the smart rooms. Instructors need to remember to turn off the projector, though--i constantly turn off the projector after other instructors if I'm not using it because I know it burns out the bulbs. i like smart room, but it seems many of them were designed without consultation from teaching faculty and/or students. To make using technology worthwhile it needs to be available in every classroom an instructor is assigned to in a given semester. It doesn't make sense to spend my time creating one lesson for my non-tech classroom and another for my tech friendly classroom or one version for a SMART classroom and another for a Promethean classroom. Thanks for providing timely support for a situation when I needed to play a video from my camcorder. The connections were not intuitive! I am new to the UofA, teaching for the first time this semester. I really enjoy having useful technologies available, such as the Echo lecture capture system. The support has been fantastic but I do think it would be helpful to standardize the systems across classrooms. We should have Macs. Document cameras are important for my teaching. Thanks! The Smart Room support staff are awesome. AWESOME! Support was really quick and helpful when I needed them. The computer and projector set ups have improved greatly in terms of reliability since switching to the trimmed down, variable height tables rather than the larger Smart Room set ups. DO NOT ALLOW individuals teaching in the smart rooms to make changes to the settings of the software. I.e., don't let them turn the sound off. PC means 'Personal Computer', and in that sense Macs are PCs, at least when they have a single or primary user. Perhaps 'MacOS or Windows' would be a better choice. :) Also, I find that MS Office has trouble opening my OpenOffice documents; it would be nice if the machines in the smart rooms had OpenOffice. Of course these are vanishingly minor suggestions- you all do a fantastic job. Thank you for - in a short time - vastly improving the equipment and user-friendliness of the equipment in so many Fulbright-used rooms AND improving the speed and courtesy of the assistance. Really a dramatic transformation in a short time. THANK YOU! I don't really know what SMART classroom means

22 21 Reynolds 427, Tyson 146 peah 307 (peabody hall) PEAH 307 PEAH 204 & 206 PEA 318 NWQB B108 MEMH MEEG 212, BELL 2282 MAIN 421 MAIN 417 MAIN 3XX MAIN 208 I don't know what half the equipment you asked is for -- I may be using something but don't know brands, etc. There should be a phone or at least a phone number in every room indicating who to call if there is a problem. To arrive to teach and to be missing technology can be devastating, and there should be a quick way to address the problem. The smart board we got 15 years ago works better than the promethean board we got last fall. I would expect technology to have gotten better, not worse. Also, Echo 360 is a nice system, but the camera needs to be mounted closer to the front of the classroom. I know the equipment can be used successfully. I'm just not familiar enough with it to make it work. It frequently does not work. I think training on the technology would greatly benefit the staff. Personally, I wish I were more proficient using the available technology. It's there, and I would like to be able to make the most of it. So many interesting ways to use the technology within the classroom exist, and I am only proficient with some of the more basic/intermediate methods. Also, many problems that I encountered with the technology I fear could have been caused by an individual not understanding how to use it properly, such as shutting the computer down improperly, etc. Also, it needs to be CLEARLY communicated to all who to contact if the technology within a classroom is not working. One time when the computer in PEAH 318 was on the fritz, the individuals within the office in Peabody were unaware, but the tech department knew about it. In situations where a computer is totally kaput and unusable, it needs to be communicated to the instructor so that when I arrive to teach, I am not caught unaware. A simple letting me know that the computer was not working, that the classroom technology would be unavailable for my class that week, and that I would need to make other arrangements if I had planned on using the technology would have been wonderful rather than arriving and finding a message scrawled on the whiteboard, "Computer not working." Great support here at UAF. I assume the ranking question on the first page wanted number 1 to be the highest rank, 4 lowest. We need more than just one smart classroom in the Mechanical Engineering Bldg.... but i shall be teaching somewhere else (several other rooms I have no experience with) next semester. So not a useful questionnaire This semester I was teaching only the one class and it was scheduled in a classroom with the minimum capabilities I mentioned above. In past semesters it's been difficult to get switched into a smart classroom (at least one with a projector, screen, and laptop connection) if I wasn't scheduled to be there already. Internet connectivity, a laptop connection, and a projector/screen are the most important elements for me. I use Macs. Most classrooms require that I switch to Microsoft. Please consider expanding access to Macs. I wish there were more Smart Rooms available, or at least an option for set-up in classrooms that don't have the equipment.

Good to have projectors even where there are no PCs. Support has been great. Help comes running. Nice - but I would rather have more faculty and more classrooms. Technology is merely accessory. I really appreciate all the tech help. The techs came to help in less than 5 minutes. Good job! In KIMP 313, can we have a clicker thing so that I can walk around the classroom AND advance my PowerPoint slides? Having an interactive smartboard would be great Markers are really needed for my classroom especially the first few weeks of the semester. I saw quite a few professors looking for markers around. just terrible Thanks for the opportunity to give feedback. The preceding question asking me to rank qualities I value from 1 to 4 was ambiguous. I ranked reliability at "1" because it is the quality I value the highest. I have an interest in integrating turning technologies clickers in the future, but have not yet created an adequately integrated curriculum. Teaching in the business building was wonderful because the support team there is far superior. I received training on how to use all the features in the room. When I had a problem with the room, someone was there within minutes to correct the issue. Thanks for all the great technology. Keep up the useful training classes, they have helped me out a lot. The Tech Staff have gone above and beyond in setting up our systems! Thank you. We're very lucky to have so many smart rooms and to continue getting more access in buildings like Old Main. Please keep up the good work! I use Blackboard and PowerPoint s almost every single day I teach, so Smart rooms are essential and much appreciated. Overall they've always worked very well, without too many technical difficulties. I think the Smart Board works for some people but others would much prefer to have a large screen. it would be nice if people were allowed to choose this option when they request a room. overall the smart classrooms are very good -- no major problems this year. I know all of the tech staff works very hard and we appreciate what you do!!! I'm not even sure if I teach in any smart classrooms, so I'm probably a poor subject for the survey and should be screened out. More Mac products I've heard that there's an effort to standardize the smart classrooms across campus; since faculty members are now more likely to be teaching in an unfamiliar building, having one type of smart classroom would be very helpful.

24 23 HESC 0028 GRAD0113 GRAD 115,113,309 ENGR403 eng 307 CHEM 132 Bell2282 BELL 2282 BELL 2282 BELL 2282 Bell 203 AFLS 107E AGRI 0115 is apparently listed as seating 60 but there are really only about 55 chairs. Thus on exam days, when the full class was present, there were not enough seats for everyone and the room was much too crowded for comfort. I have designed all my classes to present on the smart classroom features - I am not confident when I have class that the technology will be up and running properly - I have had to cancel class because I could not get it to work right and had no one available to assist me at the time I needed them All the classrooms in GRAD work the someway. They are reliable. I guest lecture across campus and the new standardized system is great. Thanks. I'd appreciate a better place for my laptop. There isn't a provision for it on the podium area. For the first question, I don't use some of the features listed, because they aren't available rather than lack of interest. Thanks to all the people who help out with the smart rooms and clicker technology (and trying to get it fixed) Shorter surveys are better surveys. Any classroom I use needs a pc, projector, and SmartBoard equivalent. I need to annotate, for the handouts have deliberate gaps that the students complete as the lecture progresses. I need OpenOffice installed and functioning with the SmartBoard (both Writer and Presentation). The SmartBoard just recently updated in BELL 2282 is more reliable than the earlier unit. The earlier SmartBoard unit in BELL 2282 and now in ME212 crash every 10 minutes or less under Windows 7. They were reliable under Windows XP. In JBHunt 144 the microphone does not work very well. The Smart Rooms have improved over time. My biggest complaint about Bell 2282 is that the microphone is not stored locally. Love a smart room I like the smartrooms very much as I use PowerPoint every single day. I also show video clips occasionally and play music. I wish they were all more uniform. I have used smartrooms in Kimpel, JBHunt, SCEN, Walton Business, AFLS, etc. and they are all a bit different. I dislike having to go to training nearly every semester just to learn what makes one room just a little bit different from the others.
