6 FOR OVER 100 YEARS IN ANN ARBOR COMPLIMENTS OF Men's Apparel STATE STREET AT LIBERTY PACKARD PHARMACY 1224 Packard ABOUT THE DIRECTOR - KENNETH HUGH MacDONALD \Ve of Civic Theater arc very grateful to i\jr. i\lacdonald for the way he has stepped into the director's shoes and guided what we think will be one of om greatest comedy successes. T his play 11 as originally cast and under the direction o[ Bill Mehegan, whom we thank again for his marvelous, yet. touching, " Home o[ the Brave." Bill's personal business necessitated his being out of the city during this week, so was unable to be with us. Kenneth a~-,tj-ced to take over, and consequentl y changes had to be made in casting, setting, and so on down the line. Ken's backgtound, which touches on the prol.ession, si nee he played in a Moss Hart production in 1\ew York City, along with many other successes, gives him many qualifications for this undertaking. \ Ve hope you all enjoy our cast in "Born Yesterday." Among the plays too ntnncrous to list, is one of his favorites that we will all remember. Ken's portrayal of Lieut. Roberts in the production MT. Roberts, won him the Oscar for the Best Actor. Kenneth is a past president of the Theater and was very active during J1is :three years on the Board of Directors. Our appreciations for Ken's contributions this evening arc twofold. Besides his portrayal of the character of Harry Brock, be has been the able director of Born Yesterday. Kenneth, while salcsmanagcr for WPAG, does not end his contributions with the aid in building a more successful Civic Theater but also in helping to make our community a better place in which to live. JOAN CONOVER (Billie Dawn) is making her first appearance on sfitgc with Civic Theater tonight, however she has been a back stage worker. Joan has appeared with Gilbert & Sullivan here in Ann Arbor and also in Riverhead, Long Island. we arc sure you will enjoy her portrayal of Billie Dawn. * ROY BERRY (bm /Jer) is probably most fitted for his part tonight as he was one of Ann Arbor's foremost barbers, now retired from the trade. Roy has. been a theater fan for years, however tonight he becomes a doer instead of a viewer. THE ANN ARBOR CI VIC THEATER wishes to thank DEY STUDIO For the Photography Work they did last Spring that helped to make the presentation of "Mr. Roberts" such a great success
