2 2 (12) 1 Introduction FMV will on behalf of the Swedish Defence purchase a mobile tactical cable system for use in the Swedish Defence. The cable system is named SiMTaCS and consists of a tactical field cable based on single mode fiber connected to a tactical expanded beam lens connector. The cable system also consists of cable reels, test equipment and repair material. Other parts in the SiMTaCS assembly are methods and systems for laying- and retrieving equipment. This document serves as a product definition to define each component in the SiMTaCS system from a product point of view. The three versions of SiMTaCS expanded beam cable links and patch cables are defined in chapter two. The specification in Appendix 2 to enquiry, defines the SiMTaCS system technical capabilities. Chapter three describes the different articles that are part of the SiMTaCS system.

3 3 (12) 2 SiMTaCS cable design versions 2.1 SiMTaCS2 SiMTaCS2 is a two fiber tactical cable with two hermaphroditical connectors (LECO2) at each cable end, as in figure 1 and as specified in Appendix 2 to enquiry AI The cables are winded on two versions of cable reels: cable reel 1000M, as defined in paragraph 3 cable reel 105, as defined in paragraph 3 cable reel 300, as defined in paragraph 3 Figur 1 Cable with connectors mounted The length of two fiber tactical cable (SMTC), as specified in Appendix 2 to enquiry AI842679, on reels defined below SiMTaCS2 1000M 1000 meter of two fiber SMTC cable shall be mounted with a LECO2 connector at each end of the cable. LECO2, LECO4 and LECO12 connector as specified in Appendix 2 to enquiry AI842679, is mounted on the SMTC2, SMTC4 and SMTC12 with LC UPC connector in the other end Bulkhead LECO2 LECO2 bulkhead is connected with two cables with LC UPC connectors. 6 6 (12) 2.5 Fan out cables The fan out cables of SiMTaCS will correspond to the bulkhead versions, with the exception that a cable version of LECO is assembled to the SMTC cable. The fan out cables will exist in three versions: Fan out LECO2 Fan out LECO2 is defined as a LECO2 connected to SMTC cable an with cable length from 1 10 meter connected to LC UPC connectors, according to the specification in Appendix 2 to enquiry AI Fan out LECO4 Fan out LECO4 is defined as a LECO4 connected to SMTC cable an with cable length from 1 10 meter connected to LC UPC connectors, according to the specification in Appendix 2 to enquiry AI Fan out LECO12 Fan out LECO12 is defined as a LECO12 connected to SMTC cable an with cable length from 1 10 meter connected to LC UPC connectors, according to the specification in Appendix 2 to enquiry AI Patch cable Patch cables exist in both multimode or singe mode versions Patch cable single mode The patch cables are produced of cables with LC UPC connectors according to the specification in Appendix 2 to enquiry. 7 7 (12) 2.7 Opto distribution field (ODF) panel The opto distribution field is used for interfacing of optic channels to a SiMTaCS12 system. The panel is shown in figure 3. 8 8 (12) 3 Cable reels The cable reels in SiMTAC system exists in four versions. Reel 105, reel 300, reel 380 and reel for 25m patch cable. 3.1 Cable reel 1000M The cable reel 1000M does not exist today in the Swedish armed forces. The design shall follow the drawings, as for the cable reel 500M, with the exception that is shall contain 1000 meter of SMTC cable. 3.2 Cable reel 105 The cable reel 105 is used today in the defence and is in accordance with the drawing in this appendix. 12 12 (12) 5.2 Cleaning kit Swedish military stock number M RENGSATS OPTOKABL/S. The cleaning kit shall contain following equipment in a case: 1 piece of Clean air spray 50 pieces of Connector cleaning sticks 2 boxes containing 90 sheets of clean wipes with one fiber optic & connector cleaner spray. 25 pieces of outdoor clean wipes. The equipment in the cleaning kit shall be able to be transported by air. Those products are intended to solve special communication situations that could arise in the Swedish Defence.
